Also a used market EUC (say an older tesla or likewise with a battery still up to the mark) could be an option. I cant think they would cost more than maybe 500$ given they were 1000$ new and they are really fun wheels still today (I still ride my Tesla v1.2 in the city as its so darn nimble and you are not allowed to ride faster than 40km/h.in the city streets either way)

    With an IP55 rating and the knobby tires I'm thinking this would be a great replacement 2nd vehicle for the commuter that doesn't quite need the range of a veteran sherman s, but wants to be able to still ride on those snowy days. I've heard this myth repeated by a few media influencers, but a higher battery voltage does not drain the battery faster.
    Power is measured in Watts, and all that matters is the Watts stored in the battery and the Watts used by the motor.
    A motor which consumes 10A@50V, or 5A@100V are both consuming the same amount of power (500W) and will both drain a 1000Wh battery in 2hrs.
    The benefit of the higher voltage, is that you can transfer the same amount of power with a lower current (Amps), and produce less waste heat. You can also then use thinner and lighter cables.

    • @darkstar4494
      @darkstar4494 Před rokem +1

      It gives you the potential to drain the battery faster, but as you said, the same motor output at any voltage takes the same amount of current out of the batteries.

    • @busybody1474
      @busybody1474 Před rokem +1

      Not worth mentioning thinner cables, ridiculously heavy wheel and the higher voltages haven't done diddly-squat to make these wheels lighter

    • @grb1969
      @grb1969 Před rokem +2

      This is basically true as a rule of thumb but a higher Voltage motor is slightly more efficient but this is mostly negated by the heavier motor needed for those higher speeds. 😮 In the end, speed is what drains batteries in the fastest/shortest time but its worth it if you’re not going far or want to get there quicker. More is just different but not always better value.

    • @OWGAC

    It’s seems like a really nice wheel…however, the current design trend for the industrial look leads to an EUC with a lot of sharp edges that protrude from pretty much every corner of the wheel…I’m thinking front and back carry handles, the suspension mount at the back, kick stands etc…many of which are metal, with hard edges. My concern is that in a fall, particularly a higher speed fall, a wheel of this design and weight could become very dangerous indeed if it hit the rider or a bystander. Those hard metal protrusions would not be causing a few nasty bruises, they would be breaking bones..and very easily!

    First I love your content.. thanks! So this is a great proposal for me, this wheel. But to keep comments shorter only one question: I noticed wobble? The stance you used is too far forward and I have to ask is that due to the adjustable jump pad being too far forward that (for it to be comfortable and usable) you need a slightly forward stance then you might otherwise need without the jump pad?

    • @OWGAC
      @OWGAC  Před rokem +1

      It's easier to wobble for the same reason why it's so agile, the Patton is design with most of its mass closer to its centroid so its easier to pivot, so less momentum to keep it on axis but it's well balanced enough that when it does happen the wobbles are predictable and easy to control. But again, at higher speed this becomes more of an issue but I suspect that not a lot of ppl would really ride above 40mph regularly.

    I think my only concern is the material it’s made out of, lightweight aircraft aluminum is sturdy but also soft. I’ve seen reviews saying you can easily strip the threads easily just by trying to take a few screws out when trying to swap tires 😬😬 I’m just thinking of the wear and tear it’ll have to endure with everyday use and what that might mean the longer you have it

    Beautiful presentation, nevertheless you compare it to the classic Sherman which is not part of the same category or use... at no time do you compare it with the Begode T4 v4 which is much more improved than v1 and above all much more comparable as 16 inches. It's a shame because this is a real dilemma for many people. The two best 16-inchers have a very different price and weight and it would be really interesting to compare them. Personally it's complicated to spend more than 3000 dollars for a 16 inch which is not used to travel too long but to have fun and to be very fun and handy and I think that many users will agree with Me.
