This is the raag Vilayat khan taught Ulhasji when the latter had visited him in Princeton, US where Vilayat Khan had been living for a number of years. This anecdote is beautifully related in Vilayat Khan's biography 'The Sixth String'.
The conceptualization of this raag bears a strong lineage of Jaipur Autrali raagas especially those revived by Sangeet Samrat Ustad Alladiya Khan. This super subtle raag such as this can only be created by someone like Ustad Vilayat Khan saab. Khan saab however has aptly and judiciously chosen Pandit ji as the torchbearer of this complex raag. The recording is an example of how a master handles a new and complex raag....🌼🌼
Panditjhi I have Khan sahab's immortal recording of this ...it's 78 minutes of sheer creative genius...it's didn't know Khan saheb had also created bandishes for vocal performance...have you recorded this on CD ..aur London kab aoge.. I missed your concert at Saptak this year as the previous night the concerts did not finish till almost 0230..
nice perfection of each and every sur with his imagination truely i always dislike "Giant Voice" like bhimsen....... the sur is "what you are" it represent the charactor of that man in the form of raag. best of luck

Indeed, of Ragas Behag, Yaman, Hem, and some other modes of Kalyan Ang.
