I love the "there's a seat for every passenger" remark. Wow! How generous of Hoverspeed. Glad nobody was forced to stand all the way across! Great to see those old cars like the Ford Granada rolling on board. The SRN4 hovercraft shown is the Sir Christopher, named in honour of the inventor; Sir Christopher Cockerell. Note the Thanet telephone number for brochures. This was at the time when the company still had a base at Pegwell Bay near Ramsgate. So nostalgic. And little trace of any of it left sadly.

I wish we could return to simpler times like this.

This is why I will forever associate "Fanfare For The Common Man" by ELP with the cross-channel hovercraft :)

Ahhh yes, the ever important lunch reservation at Maxim's de Paris. Can't be late for that. Thank goodness for the speedy hovercraft so you won't be late.

Ha that businessman and his secretary of course before Eurostar there was the coach or rail services between London, Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam using the hovercraft for those that didn’t fly taking most of the day.
