Closed source systems must be assumed to be compromised. You can claim this, that, or the other, if no-one can check it, it doesn't really mean anything.
And it doesnt come close to making the amount of money an open system does and thats the problem. They could have done this forever ago but it doesnt make the rich richer.
No such thing as a closed source system. Someone has to program it and the bigger part is to constantly patch it because no system is secure.
Then all it takes is for some Gov agency to compromise one of the programmers or worse is able to back door the system and hide for years undetected.. You are better hiding in plain sight. This closed source system has to becon on some network someplace and you will stand out like a roman candle in a dark room.

Your privacy phone must have a removeable battery, or I'm not interested.
Until you realize theres a capacitor inside the phone that holds just enough juice to handshake to cell towers
With removeable battery, at least I can remove it and Faraday cage my phone, or wrap it in tin foil to shut down all communication. If battery forced to remain, Faraday cage or metal foil shuts down comms, but phone uses up battery attempting to establish handshake comms, and especially trying to determine and transmit its gps location.
Btw - gps location is accurate within several feet, while location by cell tower triangulation is much less accurate.
It will be interesting to see where things go when normal android phones can transmit/receive to starlink sats. Elon must be doing a lot of thinking about countermeasures against deep state aspirations to control (or at least invest) his starlink network.

As far as im concerned. Anything with bluetooth/wifi will never shut itself off because they design them by intent, to not do that.

The Fairphone has removeavle battery - so at least you can remove battery and wrap phone in metal foil. (Metal foil necessary because phone may be able to pick up enough emf energy to calculate its GPS location and transmit it to cell tower or even satellite. Think about the old crystal radios, which go back to the early 1900's and have no power source. They picked up enough energy from radio waves to produce audible sound.)
