it could be a number of the rarest trees of Indonesia, hard to tell without seeing the full tree itself intact...but I would guess it to be a Lignum Vitae it is the hardest hardwood on the planet. As ALL of their trees are protected by their government as Natural National Treasures only a diseased or natural death of one of these behemoths would they be able to mill it. The weight of this must have been monstrous as of all hardwoods. The cuttings of wood most likely would be made available in the means of bids for EACH morsel cut and would be out of anyone's price range except the filthy rich! Who knows where the money is spent from this treasure, it surely is not given to the workers who cut it.
if this is what they call big , fir trees were big enough for 12 people to stand in the notch when they were cut down and had to be split to be hauled on a truck

It's called Mahogany and is a very hard wood. The dangerous part being it's size and weight, difficult to handle and the blade guide is almost at maximum height i.e. blade can twist and break.
Holy moly!!! These guys have no safety equipment, the go around with flip flops or bare footed using low tech methods of moving the huge logs around. I wouldn't have their jobs under those conditions. You have to wonder how many accidents they have in a year. Beautiful wood, but from what I can see, is it really worth it? Bet it's low skill level expected for low money. Watched the first three and a half minutes and I had to stop. LOL Nerve wracking. just waiting for something bad to happen.

@@mark3863 Thank you. In Africa, mahogany is black. I mean really black and extremely hard wood. I have seen the red wood in person, in America, I thought this was the same type of wood. I have also visited the petrified wood forest in America.
@@mark3863 Thank you. I was never that interest in wood before, until I came across these videos in wood sawing. I had a lot of brown and black carvings from from Tanzania, where I grew up. Over the years, either lost on moving house or given away as presents. Good day to you.
All the numerous safety measures that are in place to protect the employees, onlookers, and bystanders are simply a beautiful thing to behold, but hopefully are not ever applied anywhere else in the world !!! The world just cannot stand that many safety assurances, especially in places where safety is job one.
The fact is that a majority of "safety measures" would be unnecessary if everyone had good old fashioned common sense like these folks, they are working in a very dangerous environment with primitive equipment built before safety features were necessary because people used to be smart. If you notice, everyone here has all their body parts. Let's take for instance a saw blade guard, this saw doesn't have one but you don't see anyone sticking their hand into the blade. Now days you have to have a guard on a saw blade with a written warning in 72 languages not to bring any part of your body into contact with the blade or you will get hurt. but some dumb ass will still do it and sue the company that owns the saw, the company that made the saw and anyone else they think they can blame for their own stupidity.
like the safety shoes these guys arent wearing?? moving a log that weighs 5 tons or more and 1 person is wearing shoes. ... someone needs to slap these people into the 21st century....
You could put in some safety measures, however, your profit margin would be a negative number. People at this level actually doing the work don't tend to make that much money. It's the people who do the retail who get most of the money for very little physical work.
