    From 17:30 to 17:53
    The scene of the Statue of Liberty, followed by the Lower Manhattan Financial District with the WTC towers piercing the skyline and then a plane landing. This was 1994.

    If you don't know where you are if you know the stars you can roughly work out your latitude assuming it's clear but with longitude you won't stand a chance of figuring it out.

    Fairly good explanation. I will have to find another video as to how they came up with the name latitude and longitude.

      They use the Nelsen flat earth map that has latitude and longitude lines on it.

    GPS put around the world in geostationary orbits? No the satellites orbit lower in a constellation of 24 active units in 6 MEO planes. In other words the satellites move in and out of the receiver field of view.
