I stopped needing deodorant/antiperspirant a long time ago. I realized that I had body odor whenever I ate yeast bread products or drank soda pop. My fix was to stop eating and drinking them. It worked! Other members of my family won't make the change so thank you for this diy recipe.
Thanks! Just got done making this and we love it!
Can I just say that I absolutely love that your videos are short and to the point! Of course I could watching you forever but the part of getting the task accomplished is what busy moms need☺️
I love this video. I have all the ingredients. I’m going to make this as soon as I get the tubes. Thank you!
I made this today I’m super excited
I really love your deodorant spray recipe. Can’t wait to try this one too. Thanks!
Just wanted to let you know I tried this recipe and have been using this deodorant for 2 weeks and live in hot Arizona where it's been 100 degrees out and it works! Occasionally I reapply it once during the day if needed but I couldn't be happier. Thank you!!
Lo hice lo probe y me encantó ese desodorante no necesito nada mas!
I absolutely luuuvv that full body wrap u had your baby in.🤗🤗🤗
Love this and can't wait to try it! But please be careful with citrus oils!! They are photosensitive oils and can cause SEVERE sunburn if you're in the sun after using on the skin.
I have been looking into something like this lately! We can’t do baking soda so this is perfect timing.
Hey I just started following you I love your CZcams channel
I think it is a good idea to re-use the plastic containers to help protect the environment! Its a lovely recipe though
@@simplycolossal5140 they obviously mean if you already have it to re-use instead of just throwing it away
@@ouroilyhouseNext time, please use cardboard or metal! You said yourself that you like to just throw this out
I'm giving this a try switching gears great video hope it works for me...
Thank you for this.
I used to use baking soda but it irritated my skin, until I discovered the secret. I put lotion in my hand and sprinkle baking soda in it. Then, mix it together. I've never had any more problems with irritation or odor.
Thanks for this recipe. Wanted to find out if zinc oxide can also be added as well. I've seen lots of people recommending it for odour prevention.
*Much Appreciated KudOsW...* 👌👌👌
So glad to get this recipe. We are baking soda sensitive and I had to quit making the deodorant we were using. I have all these ingredients, so guess what I will be doing tomorrow. :)
Thanks you
Would you happen to have a recipe for non citrus oils? I typically sweat when I’m outdoors…
Hi first of all thank you very much for the video. Is it okay to put maca root? And if not then what root to put?
Thank you
Options for my sweet little stinky 6 y.o princess brought me here. Thank you!
Hi loved the video can you use manuka honey as an ingredient?
Could this recipe also work with adding a probiotic capsule or two to help combat odor along with a few tablespoons of magnesium oil? Ty ❤🙏
Hey Dear, Thanks for this Amazing video, I've been using this deodorant for 3 years, please trust Me, it works!! I was wondering if You should keep extra deodorant in the fridge?
I want to buy the arrow root from Amazon can you link it. Thank you.
I'm so glad I just found your channel and blog! Where can I buy a whole box set of oils like in the video? I'm very interested in doing everything essential oils. Thanks again 😊
Hey thanks! I sell them, email me at laura@ouroilyhouse.com and I can give you a link to get them wholesale!
What can you use in place of the coconut oil
So what’s the ingredient to keep the orders at Bay because that’s a whole point of using bacon soda
Hi. I live in Chennai city where the coconut oil no way can be solid due to hot climate. Please tell me some other substitute instead of coconut oil.
I know this was 3 years ago but I hope you see this message 🤞🏾 So I’ve just started making natural home products. I made deodorant with and without baking soda but the problem is that it does not work well in the summer for me- sweating, the humidity, etc the deodorant isn’t working as well as I hoped. Do you have any recipes for a stronger deodorant to help people who live in hotter climates?
I am allergic to coconut oil. What can I use as a substitute or can I add more of something already in the recipe that would work?
Would it be good to add some magnesium oil in this? If so would I add equal amount of Arrowroot powder so it doesn't change the viscosity of it? Also does this recipe glide on like regular deodorant or is it harder or softer? Thanks bunches! ❤ p.s. does the deodorant work better with or with out the baking soda?
Loos great !!! At what temperature do you let your liquid cool after coming off of the double boiler ? Thank you ❤️
do you have a link for that stove burner thing
Can i use cornflour instead of arrowroot
Any advice on clean diy baby wipes
What powder do you use please? It's not listed between the ingredients and i don't understand when you say the powder you use.
Do you experience a cooling sensation under your arms using essential oils? I've used as little as 5 drops and still feel that cooling sensation. I'm trying to find an essential oil that doesn't do that.
Is there any specific benefits of using mango butter instead of shea or cocoa butter? Are the melting points much different?
My experience is that it is pretty forgiving. You can always swap out with a similar oil to oil, butter to butter.
Mango butter won't clog your pores (it's non-comedogenic). Coconut oil helps ward off bacteria, and mango butter comes in and adds yummy vitamins and fatty acids for your under arms to enjoy. Coconut oil + mango butter is a powerhouse moisturizing duo. They carry antibacterial properties that effectively zap underarm odor.
Okay okay, are you related to the mama from Our Farmhouse On Boon? You guys favor each other in both your facial features and your voices and the way you talk. If not, I'm mind blown. LOL
what is a safe baking soda to use for face cream?
All I saw is the Baby in the intro.
Anyway will the scent remain the same as time passes by or will it expire?
Arrowroot powder doesn’t prevent odor, zinc oxide will.
I know this is extremely old buuuut. I have arrowroot and zinc oxide, would I replace the arrowroot with the zinc or would I cut the arrowroot in half and replace the other half with zinc?
@@trixie8052you can use both of them, 1:5 one of zinc and 4 or 5 of arrow
"I did about 10 drops of the lemon and lavender and 5 drops of the rosemary" me counting st least 18 drops of the lavender 😂. I bet it smells amazing I'll have to try that blend
Nice video! I am living in Hong Kong and it's quite hot here so I need to use more beeswax to make it more solid? Thank you :)
I've been making the one with baking soda and I used essential oils in it and it would sting my underarms. I took out the oils and it did well. I found that shaving my underarms that I would get a reaction. So, after seeing several videos I'm sure it's the baking soda. What about the cornstarch? I use that too! But I do use coconut oil. I have seen other videos when people used beeswax. I have it also. But no mango butter. I will order some but I'm going to try the shea until I get it in the mail.
@@ouroilyhouse I made this and I still stink. Literally. I sweat and stink too. Should I put cornstarch in or add more arrowroot? The recipe that I used with baking soda works but it stings my underarms.
@@wlsweat1 The issue with baking soda is it is very alkaline. I have heard/read one person who recognized this as the issue with baking soda. Magnesium, I believe is even more alkaline. So I guess trying to balance the ph of the deodorant. What I found really worked for me was Schmidt Activated Charcoal and Magnesium deodorant. The issue is that it just went up at Target from $6.99 to over $10. That is unacceptable! There is another Magnesium deodorant that was recommended. Magnesium oil does work for odor but your arm will sting after you shave. Also, depending on your Magnesium level, this can sting your arm pretty dramatically until your levels rise.
I’ve had trouble with my deodorant container leaking , any suggestions ? Also seen a bit greasy and leaves that on clothes any advice?
Which containers dud you use? Maybe you filled them too high? You can try storing in the fridge to make it firmer.
Baking soda deodorant leaves my armpits smelling good/odour free all day until the next regardless of sweating, will this do that also?
If I want to reuse an old deodorant container, how do I fill the tube without it pouring through the holes. Most tubes don’t have a solid base that you can just pour the mixture directly into, so how would you adjust for that?
I think you can put some into that bit and then put it in the freezer to solidify it, pour the additional stuff into the tube and put it back in the freezer (I hope that makes sense).
Thanks for sharing this video! It's very informative!
Store bought deodorants do not prevent me from being smelly.
So I'm back to DIY, I currently use baking soda with coconut oil, and cornstarch.
I have strong underarm odor. I would be hesitant to try a baking soda free version. What ingredient in your recipe prevents odor? The essential oils won't probably cut it for me. If this leaves me stinky, what amount of baking soda would you recommend I add to a 1 stick recipe?
Want to try the receipt you mention but in my country it is hard to find baking soda my question is. Does baking powder works?
curb meat intake to 10% of your total daily intake and avoid dairy; curb sugar and alcohol as much as possible; coffee could b another culprit making you stinky. once you eat a plant based diet, your odors will be gone, even your poop will have little or no smell either.
@@Lauren-vd4qeThe same could be said with a meat based diet. It’s simply not true that meat makes you stinky. I’d say processed foods and rancid seed oils contribute to body odor.
Curious, what if your really musty and need something strong?
Hooray 🎉 Where can I purchase your deodorant products for men ? I didn't see where you can purchase your products. Thanks !
Is it a cold processed coconut oil? The one that can hardened when it's cool enough or put in the fridge?
don't see measurements for arrowroot in the recipe?
I have loads of Shea butter on hand. Can I substitute that for mango butter?
Hardcore bio-chemist here. This is a great recipe but it’s more like a perfumed balm rather than a deodorant.
Because it has no deodorizing ingredient in it.
Deodorizing happens when an electrolyte-mineral interacts with the enzymatic system of the sweat. Sadly, an anhydrous formulation like this really wouldn’t act like a deodorant.
If you want to keep it safe and aluminum/alcohol/baking soda-free, there are lots of safer salts/minerals like “zinc ricinoleate”, “zinc oxide”, “magnesium sulfate” and/or esters like triethyl-citrate, oils like ethylhexyl-palmitate to help catalyze the sweat to supress the bad odour. An organic solvent with those ingredients in a stable emulsion with a PH range 5 to 6 would do a brilliant job!
As a bio chemist, if you were to make an all natural deodorant, what ingredients would you use to make it? What would be your recipe?
Edit: also would pink Himalayan salt be considered a deodorant substance?
@@chrismarr4234 Baking soda is generally not an irritant, though individual reactions can vary. Some people may have sensitivities to triethyl citrate. I don’t believe aluminium is inherently harmful either; much of the concern comes from the 'clean beauty' movement's fear mongering. For example, kaolin is a natural clay that 'green' companies often use and chemically speaking, it's just hydrated aluminium silicate.
Thank you for your reply. I was curious about something you may know. We got rid of aluminum cookware b/c heating it adds toxins to out food. But what about using tinfoil and disposable tinfoil pans? Maybe the amount is so small it wouldn't have much of an effect?
Recipe sounds good and I'm glad more and more people make their own deodorant of natural products.
However I must say I'm honestly a bit disappointed that she said she 1) buys from Amazon who is the worst treater of his employees and 2) just tosses the containers, it is not very sustainable for such a natural product.. :/
I really hope she'll change that too..
I said the same thing, at least about tossing the container. I hope she recycles instead of throwing them away.
The beauty of this is that you have the option to do what you feel is best for you 😊

If I got no Brezhnev wax can I use soy wax
LOVE your lip balm, so smooth. Now it's time to make a deodorant stick without baking soda however, can I switch the beeswax to candelilla wax?? What's the difference? The smell or something else.
So I made the deodorant and it feels sticky. How can I change the recipe to prevent that.
Are there any containers that are made from recycled material or paper, instead of plastic?
Is it okay if i use a kraft push up paper tube for the container?
Its made of paper lined with wax.
www.amazon.com/2-37oz-Kraft-Paperboard-Deodorant-Tubes/dp/B07DYPH87B
Im thinking that maybe the oils will have a tendency to melt (im from a tropical country) and might leak out or seep thru the paper. Or maybe i could just increase the amount of beeswax, make it harder?
Where do you get your men scents??
Question, so I notice most people use a few drops of vitamin E like you did. Is there a reason why you only use a few drops instead of using one or two droppers worth? Like does it have a negative effect if you did use that much, not good for your skin or something of that nature? That way I will know for future recipes. Thanks Laura! Xoxo
You can use more if you want! I like using it as a natural preservative and you don't need much.
People with blood pressure issues should be very careful with vitamin E. There is a such thing as too much topically for any body when it comes to vitamin E. The heart doesn’t like it.
@@shawannadowning7952 holy crap i had no idea!! thank you for that vital information, i'll definitely have to make note of that and look into what amount becomes unsafe for those with blood pressure or heart problems. i'm just starting a business and i have a small customer base but a lot of the people are from my grandma's neighborhood, they're older so i really have to be very careful with what i put in my skincare products (&how much) so i truly appreciate comments like yours.
Is there a substitute for the mango butter, I have an allergy to mango.
Is essential oil good on skin longer? I heard it oxidize and it can be irritating to the skin. Please adv. Thank you
I add magnesium to mine.
I ordered everything listed, but didn't see the arrowroot. After watching video again to be sure I make right, I see you used. Will it effect my results if I don't use?
Hi Laura, Can I use this recipe in the deodorant stick for a foot balm ? it could be good to apply on the feet, in a rush, without using hands to rub it in ? Should I add more oils like avocado oil and cocoa butter to soften cracked skin on heels ?
Yes you can! I also have a foot balm recipe on the channel that you could try.
I'd just use the same recipe, but add peppermint EO instead! lol
do you reckon cocoa butter would be suitable to replace mango buter which i can't get here?
Whats the measurements for receipe
I would love to make this for my son,as he is asking for one even though he doesn't need it 😁.Could you please share your husband's oil combination,if you don't mind?
I have different combos listed in the blog post: www.ouroilyhouse.com/homemade-deodorant-without-baking-soda/
Any idea why my deodorant caves in in the middle a bit after it’s solid? Am I pouring it while it’s still too hot?
I make my own deodorant similar to your recipe but I still have a problem with the oil coming off on my tops. They will not wash out unless you use a spot remover spray or wash a couple of times. I’ve tried a liquid deodorant spray but it doesn’t work for long on me. So I know I have to use a wax or oil recipe. Do you have any suggestions to keep the oil from getting on my tops around the armpit area?
I made a recipe that has more beeswax and doesn't contain any other kind of butter. It's made beeswax, coconut oil, and grapeseed oil. The recipe was a little too stiff so I melted it down and added a little more grapeseed oil. Doesn't rub off ony clothes or cause any oil stains.
Does the air route power help it from falling apart I did not use it put gave the deodorant as gifts and people are saying it's falling apart
If you didn't use the powder and it fell apart, try using it in your next recipe. If you did use it, maybe add a tad bit more wax to keep it solid.
For how many months we cn store this??
can I use shea butter as an alternative to mango butter?
mango butter is better than shea butter as it doesn't clog your pores and provides more vitamins and fatty acids and isn't as greasy.
I am new to this homemade deodorant, so I am wondering I don’t have mango butter but I do have Shea butter. Which she better be a good substitute or is there no substitute recommended for mango better?
Compared to shea butter, mango butter is lighter and less greasy, thus easily absorbed by the skin. This non-comedogenic property means it won't clog pores, making it suitable for people with acne-prone skin.
Hi, can I make this without arrowroot powder or any other powder?
What does arrowroot powder do when applied to your armpit?
Unfortunately this marks and stains all my clothes. Would be great to know a recipe for natural deodorant that doesn't stain clothes
Won't filling it make it get stuck??
Did I miss how much to use ?
Hey how long will this last for? As in how much shelf life thanks for the video 😁
will the coconut oil or vitamin e oil in it stain shirts/tops? because they're oil?
I just made this today and omg this really works! I switched 2 years ago to natural deodorants and always end up w/ a rash under my arms. I was more concerned that it wouldn’t work but it really does! 💯
I'm so glad you like it!
Did you end up getting a rash? Most natural deodorants won’t give me rashes until after the second week
Did you notice if there was less perspiration and/or less odor? Ty 🙏❤️
