Ensiferum Two Paths - the making of the vinyl master

- Finnish folk metal ambassadors, Ensiferum, recorded the basic tracks and mixed their new album on tape. As we already know information is lost during analog to digital conversion so the vinyl version of the album was done from the tape without any AD & DA conversion. Here's how this old school method was done shown by mr Anssi Kippo @ Astia-studio A (Lappeenranta, Finland).
The tape used was RTM SM900 1/4", 15ips +6/320nWb/m, IEC eq, no noise reduction on Studer A812.
Drums, bass, rhythm guitars and Petri's vocals were recorded on RTM SM900 2" tape and kept there untouched so there's no editing used. All drums are one take and on several songs bass was played live along with drums without any overdubbing to capture the amazing live energy Ensiferum has.
We hope you get to enjoy the album on the same sound as we did at studio which can be done by listening the vinyl.
Please feel free to share this video.
With best regards,
Anssi Kippo / Astia-studio. - Hudba
I love all the insights here.
And to me analog recording does have a nicer sound! Listening to 80s albums even 128kbits stuff on free Spotify sounds more "alive" than nowadays majority
Very much looking forward to Two Paths! \m/
👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋 Great !!!
Imagine getting that as a master tape copy.
That’s what we’ve been delivering since 2017. 😊👍
@@Astiastudio are you kidding me?
Where can I get a master tape copy?
I mean a real reel to reel tape 🤟
@@SupraTompan Not kidding. Master tape is used to make an analogue signal path vinyl and sometimes cassette release. Naturally we do deliver files as well but they are for CD and streaming release only. Most artists and bands we work with are releasing their music in analogue signal path format. I recommend checking our website for more info. 😊👍
the album seems a bit involved in traditional heavy metal
