Float Fishing Action: I Love it! (+ Huge Carp in a Hotel Pond?)

  • Graeme heads off for a bit of float fishing using a variety of hookbaits and groundbaits. By persevering with this method he gets a wide variety of fish on the method by constantly changing depths and baits. Then it’s time for the "Random" section, where as usual you get a real mix of interesting topics. First up he is off to help Mike with some Forestry and Bushcraft work in a pine forest. Then he does a tour of a classic old hotel, discovering an unusual air raid shelter and some giant carp in the hotel pond...then to close out he takes afternoon tea and cakes inside the Hotel...which includes pink bread? What is that all about? No wonder he calls it the Random section....Enjoy..

    Those dried pine needles in the woods make a great mulch for Camelias and Rhododendrons. The acid washes through into the plant roots and keeps them healthy. From turning yellow and mottled.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  Před 9 měsíci +2

      I wonder if the pine needles would work for Hydrangeas ?..I seem to remember digging something over the root area made them go from blue to pink ? or maybe it was vice-versa...Was it copper sulphate ??.Someone might know.

    Nice vid mate, ever noticed how fish are a lot lighter in colour out of commercial fisheries, but then on wild venues, like lakes, canals, reservoirs and rivers, the colour of the fish are a lot darker and patterns more bold. I had a hypothesis that it is because of the lack of predators in the commercial fisheries, but in the wild, there are predators, like pike, otters, kingfishers, herons even trout and chub, so the fish would need to be more camo to avoid the threat. On commercials the water is usually very coloured, so unless the fish are on the surface, birds are not really a threat to them, and i assume on most carp lakes there are no pike or trout.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Interesting theory ,and yes,some waters are a sort of milky ,I guess to the high density of stock fish.

    • @DjDolHaus86
      @DjDolHaus86 Před 9 měsíci

      It's actually a lot more simple than that, fish simply tan in the same way we do when exposed to sunlight. In commercials there are a lot more fish within a given area and as such a combination of sediment being stirred up and an excess off nutrients (fish poo) feeding the algae leads to cloudy water that the sunlight can't penetrate as well, the result of this is a paler complexion because the skin isn't producing as much melanin as they would in gin clear water (melanin production being the skins response to being bombarded with UV radiation from the sun). Fish do of course go pale in stressful conditions in a similar way that we do as all the blood in the skin is diverted to the muscles for a fight/flight response but this is generally temporary, an hour of de-stressing is usually enough to regain most of their colour following a capture or similar event. Living in a commercial is actually pretty stressful for a fish, they might not have to deal with as many natural threats but there is huge competition for food, water quality is generally less than ideal, disease/parasites are rampant and they're under a lot of angling pressure and this certainly won't help them look their best.

    • @TAFishing
      @TAFishing  Před 7 měsíci

      I guess an average would be about £10...others spend a lot more. If you use baits like supermarket frozen sweetcorn and discounted bread it gets really cheap. £3-00 or less. i think discount bread and frozen sweetcorn would be the cheapest I could find. Or dig your own worms for free.
