Bachmann is pleased to announce an update to the HO Scale USRA 0-6-0 utilizing new and existing tooling and featuring enhanced details with roadname-specific features such as prototypical tender styles and headlight arrangements. This reimagined classic also comes factory-equipped with dual-mode Soundtraxx® Econami™ DCC featuring a selection of whistles and bells, realistic chuffs, air pump, dynamo, and cylinder cock effects. Upgrade your steam-era switching operations with the new USRA 0-6-0 from Bachmann.
Wow, they FINALLY have front couplers
And cracked gears with no parts available
I'm really just waiting for the underframe (w/ coupler mount) to come out so I can fit it to my other 2 USRA's that I have
@@fiercetrains4052 I might do the same tbh
I have a sp 0-6-0 with a Vanderbilt tender without a front coupling tho
These are a big step up from the ancient USRA 0-6-0 and 2-6-2. No more chunky, moulded-on details. It even has a front coupler, at last!
So happy to see a genuine front coupling on it
Right? So baffling that they didn’t include that from the start, it’s literally mostly a shunting locomotive.
@@tempertantrum6464 one of the reasons why I’ve hardly bought one lol
@@AppalachianRailfan99 fair enough tbh. They cheaped out on it when they first redid the chassis and made it a modern locomotive. The bell was absolutely terrible, the drawbar was badly engineered, the lack of a front coupler was lazy, plastic tender wheels was cheap, etc. And then when they finally give it the updates it desperately needed they make it DCC only and exclusive to only like 4 roadnames. Frustrating tbh…
@@tempertantrum6464 I would’ve personally preferred an N&W one, without DCC
These are great models. They're really a step up from what they were before!
@@Conrail76 they’re what they should have been to begin with tbh, that drawbar was ridiculous, even for a budget model. The bell too. No DC offering is also crazy considering the 0-6-0 is their default budget steam locomotive.
@@tempertantrum6464 Yea lol I see what you mean. I have the original one and it's not even close to this new one. DC with no front coupler. Might have to buy the newer one.
Now we just need an update on the 2-6-2 prairie
A classic reborn. 😎
Your pfp looks almost exactly like leokimvideo 😂
@@JohnSaavedraLikesTrains yeah. His is a little edited though 😅.
@@JohnSaavedraLikesTrainsI thought the same
Wow that locomotive looks Amazing! Truly A Bachmann classic
FINALLY IT'S BEEN RELEASED!!!!!!!!
It’d be so cool if we got these in the train sets!
For the time being, our starter sets will continue to feature our legacy 0-6-0s to keep their prices competitive for newcomers to model railroading.
@@BachmannTrainsUSAcould u add SOU 6133 to your HO FT line?
They finally got a working front coupler on the front of the 0-6-0! Being modeled after a switching locomotive, it should pull trains while running backwards.
Wow Bachmann is really stepping up there game
Ill absolutely have to get a PRR one at some point, glad to see you're really getting your stuff together lately Bachmann! Love it!
Hope to see another release with the Union Pacific sloped tenders like engine #4442
Finally they out. I would like to get my hands on one. I like the Pennsylvania Railroad locomotive
Very nice. I had seen the announcement for these in a model railroad magazine, and while I do have an older Bachmann 0-6-0 (that I had converted to DCC) for use as a switcher on my layout, I may eventually spring for one of these more recent models.
Finally metal wheels on the tender. I do wish we had a sloped back tender though
I’d like to try to get my hands on one of these engines someday! I plan to fill up my collection of model trains in the future. 😊
I really like the Union Pacific and Jersey Central, I may have to get one one day.
now we just need them to do road specific details on their mikados and pacifics
That’s what I was thinking. Maybe Bachmann should make Pennsylvania Railroad L1s Mikados
Broadway Limited made them, but they can be hard to find@@isaaccope8580
Good job Bachmann 🎉😊
As exciting as it is to see these, I am shocked to see that the whislte is *still* a molded piece into the dome and not separately applied.
Fantastic looking model! I hope you guys make another production run of the spectacular Bachmann H1/H2 Atlantic from the LBSCR since the replica Beachy Head is undergoing final testing runs!
Tell Bachmann UK since they’d be the ones doing it! I’ll send them an email since I think it’s a good idea and personally I’d buy one!!
If only I hadn’t bought 3 without road specific details
Epic 0-6-0 comeback! 😁
You should have done cnj 113 instead of 115
I would’ve been tempted if it was cnj 113 and tons of others would have because the 113 is still around
Well.. 113 is a very different breed than the usra locomotives so maybe the numbers are based on real ones
113 isn't a USRA 0-6-0 though. It's a much heavier 0-6-0 built to a different design.
Hope to add one of these to my collection
Finnaly an accurate UP 0-6-0
Will there be a version of this new model without the DCC included? Not everyone can afford a DCC equipped model.
Indeed. Bachmann is very inept at keeping the poor modeler in mind, from what I’ve seen.
Everyone has a right to enjoy these locomotives.
Ok I need one of these now
Nice
Haha
I just saud that too
Finally
Another run of Southern 4501 & 630 with maybe a few more prototype specific details would be rather swell
I’d get a DC one!
Finally! Took long enough
Have to get the nyc and pennsy
1st of all, Bachmann should have used TCS "Wow" Steam for a decoder choice!
So now that your making "Road Specific" models, why don't you folks redesign your Berkshire models, and bring out a Wheeling & Lake Erie(Leased by the NKP as their 800 series), as well as the W&LE 6400 class. And don't forget Erie, they had 4 different classes of 2-8-4's.
What about doing some C&O L2 Hudson's since you made some NYC Hudson's? The C&O L2 Hudson's were the heaviest ever built by Baldwin, and also the L2A with Poppet valves instead of Baker valve gear.
You could also make the Pere Marquette N-2's with a combination of the Berkshire molds you already have! LL Heritage took my suggestion I gave them back in 2003, and finally produced them in 2006 with the help of Art Million also (PM HS). However, Walther's (LL Heritage) Berk's had a number of mistakes, that didn't match the prototypes!
How about it Bachmann?
Sincerely,
Joe Bliss (C&OHS #72; SRI #88: & NKPH&TS #3612)
Brother I need this immediately
They may be updated, but it still has that old Tyco/ Life-Life vibe. The molded-in details look too feathered into the body and do not "pop" out. The details such as the air pumps, compressors, power-reverse sets, cab-hatches, and domes are too plain with the basic shapes and do not have details to make it crisp and clean. No builder's plates are on the smoke box, and there are barely any boiler bands. Even an MTH Railking of the USRA 0-6-0 has more detail.
I was excited when I heard that these were going to have TCS WowSound in them, but not sure what happened to cause the change-up. I may end up passing on these, as I run TCS exclusively.
Can we please get a Nickel Plate Road and/or a Wheeling & Lake Erie version?
More roadnames are certainly possible in the future
Long have I waited for this locomotive’s arrival. I started getting desperate and gluing broken spare ez-mate couplers to the fronts of the pilots.
I need this….
I wish I had the up 4754 one
I would Buy one.
Gotta add these to starter sets
For the time being, our starter sets will continue to feature our legacy 0-6-0s to keep their prices competitive. We may look to upgrade them in the future, but there are no plans as things currently stand.
@@BachmannTrainsUSA will you be adding more steam locomotives to starter sets? (Ie something a little bit bigger like a usra 4-6-2?)
Will you eventually make these DCC-ready for people who can’t run DCC?
I need that UP tender in N Scale
Good Work. ☺️👍🏼
And yet Bachmann is STILL 20,000 YEARS BEHIND THE COMPETITION
No, not really. They’ve made a lot of stuff that’s never been made before, and their newer high-end stuff is pretty good. They earned the bad reputation from making toy quality stuff in the late 1900’s. All my bachmann engines run just fine.
For the next rolling stocks for Bachmann Thomas & Friends, could you please make the Breakdown Train, Judy and Jerome?
I just received my prr 0 6 0 im currently waiting for my new york central 0 6 0 and Union pacific 0 6 0 I think you guys should retool your 2 6 2 prairies in ho scale and I have two road names for the 0 6 0 santa fe and southern pacific
It’s nice to see these with front couplers finally, but will the pulling capacity be any better and what about slow speeds? Did the drive system get improved too?
Check 2:19 in the video to see an example of the slow speed operation - we actually had to speed it up a little here as it would have been too slow for the shot otherwise!
This seems like it'll be a beautiful little model, but please tell me there's a way to mute the sounds or a plain DC version because I know for a fact that the chuff sounds were reused from the 2015 run GS-4 and I've heard those chuffs for the past 7 years and I'm a tad tired of them.
The sound can be muted by pressing 8 on your DCC controller.
Road Name Suggestion: CPR 2023 and 2024 (which were never owned by the CPR but are painted in it's livery)
Are the decoders the 21pin version or a fully integrated motherboard? Just want to know for a tsunami2 upgrade.
Only problem is, with inflation being high they are really stepping up their prices! Keep your models affordable Bachmann!
Always make sure to check your retailer's pricing before going off of our catalog price. They will almost always be more competitive.
If there’s a variant with the lamp on the smoke box door, then there should be variant to look like Conway Scenic Railroad Number 7470
plenty of options for the future :)
we got a front coupler bachmann 0-6-0 before gta6
Still can’t do a separately bell or whistle, whyyyyyyy?
Nice
It’s time to add smoke units and flickering fireboxes to DCC equipped models.
Are these available in DC? if so how much?
They aren’t… I’m getting very annoyed by manufacturers forcing DCC…
@@modelrailfan37 I swear I hate modern model railroading
@@modelrailfan37seriously?! So if we want a DC version for a reasonable price we’re stuck with the old one with the ancient body shell, no front coupler, and that awful drawbar?? That sucks!
@@tempertantrum6464 unfortunately… idk why Bachmann does this to us…
@@thetoontrain6073 I particularly agree 😭🤣
Now do them with slope back tenders
$355 for a 0-6-0 is wild
@@RCRF401 DCC for ya I guess. Still outrageous though considering this is still using a body shell from the 80’s.
@@tempertantrum6464 It's not. The shell is newly tooled for this model.
@@michaelramsey82 the difference is honestly minimal from what i can see, maybe ill get my hands on one and be proven wrong though
On Trainworld it’s only 210 dollars
smol fella!
Is there an unlettered version
not currently, but certainly not impossible for the future.
Is it still a split chassis design?
I bet locomotive be Worth 0-6-0 n scale collection
Price $400
I still wonder if Bachmann will do a LB&SCR E2 Class engine in the near future.
Bachman I have one question which is how come every Model you make is either the best thing on earth or the worst piece of garbage on earth you just kind of seem to switch back-and-forth you still make good models though
Will these not have smoke
These do not include smoke units.
I got a n gauge model of these, and I crapped out within 3 months
We're so sorry to hear this happened. All of our models come with a one-year warranty when purchased new. Please reach out to service@bachmanntrains.com to get a repair or replacement started.
@@BachmannTrainsUSA ok
Road-specific details arent enough to get someone to pay $350 for the same rivarossi unit from the 70's.
Honestly, I'm very disappointed. Aside from the smokebox fronts, chimneys, and tenders, everything else is identical to the old and now very dated USRA 0-6-0. To call this an all-new or even reborn product feels disingenuous; Updated, perhaps, but nothing more.
If you really want a highly detailed USRA 0-6-0, you're better off prowling Ebay or train shows for an old Proto 2000 model.
I recommend to wait till they actually come out
The proto ones are more detailed but almost impossible to service and maintain so it’s up to preference.
@@modelrailfan37 also hard to find
Broadway limited 0-6-0 releasing next spring 👌

You ever hear of kitbashing? Decal work?
Their inside components are likely still made of cheese.....
With decades of similar type failure , gears and whatnot . I have bought the LAST botchmann product ever and will continue to advise others not to waste their money on your crap . Never again
We're sorry to hear of the issues you've experienced regarding our older gears. Our current products use new gears made of a different material to avoid this problem. We'd definitely encourage you to give our more recent models a try!
