Decade is one my favorite riders. He says things as they are; he doesn't sugar coat them. He also shows, just because you were born evil, doesn't mean you have to be.
You know I just realized something after watching ZI-O. Decade used 50% of his power to make the Decade ride watch. Then he lost his remaining power when Schwartz took it becoming Another Decade. Then Tsukasa got his other 50% back when Sogo gave him the ride watch. I can only asume after Schwartz was destroyed he got back the 50% he took returning all Decades power back to 100%. After analyzing this I realized that we never technically saw Neo Decade at 100% so for all we know he could have a new complete form that overshadows Violent emotion and is equal to Ohma-Zio.
However Violent Emotion has the ability to use ANY card of ANY rider without having to transform into said rider. Main or otherwise. Imagine neo decade violent emotion

To be honest the first half of Decade (until the end of the first nine worlds) was not bad at all in my opinion. I recently rewatch them after 10 years and the episodes still hold up to date: the VFX, humour and character chemistry,...The story is about Decade travel to A.R Rider world and kinda handle their trouble, each world gives him a lesson in one way or another that develops him more or less. Though it felt different as we didn’t see the original actors return, the A.R Rider concept was handled quite well. This period also raised huge curiosity inside us with all the mystery about Tsukasa’s past and other foreshadowing scene. However after that they kinda went all over the place. I did feel like the production team didn’t know where to go after that and just throw Tsukasa into random whatever world ( Amazon?!). And of course every questions from the beginning was kinda badly explained and the show ended like a mess, which was so sad. Luckily Inoue’s performance did make up a bit for it.

I dont quite remember where where read these but there are 2 very common (but a little conflicting) rumors I've come across over the years: 1. All riders vs. Dai-shocker was originally intended to be the series finale 2. Before the series got cut short, tsukasa' sister sayo was originally intended to become a recurring character in the show after the events of all riders vs. dai-shocker
And some of the writers left because he felt the storywriting that the other writers doesnt fit to Decade as Leader of all of the Heisei Phase 1 Riders...

The one thing I've never liked is the end of Decade isn't even close to where the movie starts. The lack of connection is so jarring it really takes you out of the movie even as it starts
I have a habit of listening to History of Kamen Rider when I’m at work and I have some different thoughts on some seasons. I haven’t gone to the comments to say “you’re wrong” but it does make me want to make my own videos on Kamen Rider. Go trough a season and explain my thought on the strengths and weaknesses of a season. I think it could be a good way to put forward an alternate viewpoint on Kamen Rider as a whole.
I think the plot explanation for the sea cucumber is in one of the stage plays for decade, where a rider called zuccoade comes and he has a sea cucumber motif

Yep, that’s the one. It features Decade Complete, but the 9 cards on his chest are Decade Complete cards, the same on his forehead. Hell, why not have the real Tsukasa use Violent Emotion. And yes, it means that Sayo is talking to a clone of her brother the whole time. Now that I think of it, the final boss of Decade should be the real Tsukasa as Violent Emotion Decade.
Regarding the Kenzaki Kazuma that was out of character, I think one of the rider trivia books had a pretty good explanation as to why he acted that way since the Joker undead influence had changed him into being ruthless. This isn't too dissimilar to him in ZI O as well.
Thanks for making these. It's been years since I watched Decade. I'm currently on my 10th KR series but I've been jumping around in the Heisei Era randomly. So far I have seen Kuuga (one of my personal favorites), Kabuto, Den-o, Kiva, Decade, W, OOO, Fourze, Wizard, and now I'm on Gaim. I'm planning on going back to watch the older ones (Agito to Hibiki); and then going through newer ones (Drive to Zi-o) in order this time. I really want to finish the Heisei Riders before going to the Reiwa Riders.
I watched the Rider season in THIS order: Den-O, W, OOO, Decade, Kiva, and now I'm at Wizard. Next up I'm planning to watch Fourze, Build, Drive, Gaim, etc.
Tsukasa life looks very similar to Peter Parker's life. For 5 reasons 1.They can travel both to the multiverse. 2. They're both photographer's 3. They're also have both sisters. 4.Theyre both have a dark side. 5.They are both having the longest appearances.

This may be the nostalgia talking, but Decade remains as my favourite Kamen Rider of all time. The season is the first season I've watched in full (probably because it was so short) and got me hooked on everything Kamen Rider. I think the fact that it was so fun and features all the past Heisei riders AND some Showa riders made it feel like you're going through a brief overview of the whole Kamen Rider history.
Great video man and I have enjoyed your History of Kamen Rider videos so far from Kuuga up until Decade as i'm a newbie to the Rider franchise so far but i'm really enjoying the hell out of it (and i'm a HUGE ass Ultra fan btw). The best parts of Decade were easily the Kabuto & Hibiki arcs as well as the Dai-Shocker movie IMO 🔥
From a story perspective, the way Decade ended is kinda sad. What happened between Tsukasa, Natsumi, Yusuke, and Kaitou for Tsukasa to be traveling alone the next times we see him?

Perhaps similar, sure, but he does fulfill that to a certain extent; in fact, I'd argue he's BETTER character-wise than the original Yusuke. In terms of usefulness though.... ehh....I'll give em this one.
Exactly. Onodera is an actual character with flaws, development and personal struggle, which is more that can be said for Yusuke "Gary Stu" Godai who has no flaws, no development nor personal struggle. He's perfect in every way and that's *boring.*
@@horaciosi Godai? No flaws? What about that one time he went berserk on the Porcupine Grongi? Also, Godai is still arguably a better character. Why? Because as the series progresses, Godai’s smile became fake because of the Grongi’s attacks. He may not show it, because he knows he has to stay strong. And you can tell that Godai isn’t really smiling. Then during the final fight, Godai was crying because of the fact he is doing this, while Daguva is laughing because he wants Godai to snap. Sure, Godai could have been done better, but I still stand by my point that he is better than Onodera, even though Onodera has potential.
@@horaciosi Hell, he isn't that flawless, as besides what I said, Godai never truly healed from what happened with the Grongi. Why do you think he was traveling around the world again in the final episode? To rediscover his smile. Those scars from the battles with the Grongi will never go away, and he had to travel to at least heal from them.
Honestly would've been more intresting if Decade really was a destroyer of worlds. A gray morality Rider who destroys heroes and villians would make for a really different story for any Rider
How would they even adapt something like Decade. Dragon Knight and Masked Rider are the only ones adapted in the west, so are they gonna go make up new heroes? (That would actually be cool, even if undermines the aniversary aspect of Decade) And then you have to consider the option of having a completely different Ryuki adaption seeing how Dragon Knight is not owned by Hasbro (now that I think about it, did Saban sell the rights for Masked Rider too?)
If feel like, the story of the legend riders in decade are not an episode but a season that got condense into one episode. That's the reason the story seems off.
I will say this A friend of mine showed me 'at the time' the most recent Kamen Rider Series which was W. He loved it and wanted me to get into it BUT the last time I watched something like that was Power Rangers Lost In Space as I thought 'I got to old for it....yes I know big mistake' I loved the idea of W and in the USB Stick it had the movie and he told me 'skip Decade part' but I thought....why. Watched it and fell in love with Decade right there. The Sound effects, The Cards, That Clock Up/Invisible/Final Attack Ride at the start was to me epic plus the idea of 1 Rider vs all sort of like what if the Green Ranger won in the end in Green With Evil. After that movie I then sought out the rest of his story as I just enjoy the idea of him traveling and photography 'which I can relate to quite a bit' If I had just watched W I would probley have just stuck with him and thats it BUT thanks to Decade I decided to watch every Kamen Rider series and give them a try and thus fell in love with Kabouto, Wizard and Ex-Aid so I owe it to Decade for making me stick with Kamen Rider as a whole :)
Decade was the first rider show I watched and I was watching it when Build was airing. I thought the concept of the show was great, a rider able to change to past riders. It showed me what the heisei riders before Decade were like. Now the story does off the rails after the journey through the 9 worlds. Decade is a mess but a guilty pleasure
Even if its not the best and that it had a lot of problems throughout the story and behind the scenes, i still like this show to Tsukasa himself and the idea of the Ar riders, now it's time to learn the original ideas that this show had before the shift. and the glorious memes for Kamen Rider in the Hesiei Era
Kamen Rider got me back into Kamen Rider and rest is history. Suck it got cut half to series. I’m very surprise of actor who play Decade got involved in so many special cameo in later movies and series. That is why Decade will be my one two favorite Heisei Riders.
Ironically, when Wataru said that in the movie, he meant that Decade's job was to support the other Riders' stories and help them develop into heroes. However, since that meant Tsukasa got virtually no character development or plot, people use that line to describe Decade as a whole.
I watched all the season in the chronological order and when I got to Decade i really enjoyed the series. I never had an issue with multiverse switching things up and I don't expect everything to make 100% sense in a fiction. Tsukasa is one of my favorite protagonist in the whole KRU.
It might not be a popular opinion but I actually think Decade is a great first season to watch because of its multiverse aspect You get the gist of what the rider worlds are about without outright spoiling them and also get a taste of their powers and skills too
I was quite surprised that I've actually saw all of Decade, without knowing it. Weirdly enough Decade was my very first season if I wanted to not count Dragon Knight, I initially thought Dragon Knight was connected somehow but finding it something entirely different was a shock to me, but has sent me on an interesting journey through the Decades. Though I'm lacking in the paying attention department of keeping my attention on the actual story of every season as I watch it. If I could find a proper place to watch each of the shows I would most likely watch them all over again.
you hit on what makes decade both very fun and a slog to get through at the same time at 20:31. It has a lot of great fanservice and awesome moments, I'd say every episode has at least one scene worth seeing. but the journey to get those moments is just dull. a very feast or fame show

I'm planning on going back to watch the older ones (Agito to Hibiki); and then going through newer ones (Drive to Zi-o) in order this time. I really want to finish the Heisei Riders before going to the Reiwa Riders.
I watched the Rider season in THIS order: Den-O, W, OOO, Decade, Kiva, and now I'm at Wizard. Next up I'm planning to watch Fourze, Build, Drive, Gaim, etc.
Imagine if Inoue is like Odagiri. The amount of decade movies and crossovers that wont exist...

This may be the nostalgia talking, but Decade remains as my favourite Kamen Rider of all time. The season is the first season I've watched in full (probably because it was so short) and got me hooked on everything Kamen Rider. I think the fact that it was so fun and features all the past Heisei riders AND some Showa riders made it feel like you're going through a brief overview of the whole Kamen Rider history.
Great video man and I have enjoyed your History of Kamen Rider videos so far from Kuuga up until Decade as i'm a newbie to the Rider franchise so far but i'm really enjoying the hell out of it (and i'm a HUGE ass Ultra fan btw). The best parts of Decade were easily the Kabuto & Hibiki arcs as well as the Dai-Shocker movie IMO 🔥

From a story perspective, the way Decade ended is kinda sad. What happened between Tsukasa, Natsumi, Yusuke, and Kaitou for Tsukasa to be traveling alone the next times we see him?

THANK YOU for being someone who defends Yusuke Oondera Kuuga! Seriously, people dog on him WAY too much, when he's just not supposed to be the original Yusuke. Perhaps similar, sure, but he does fulfill that to a certain extent; in fact, I'd argue he's BETTER character-wise than the original Yusuke. In terms of usefulness though.... ehh....I'll give em this one.
Exactly. Onodera is an actual character with flaws, development and personal struggle, which is more that can be said for Yusuke "Gary Stu" Godai who has no flaws, no development nor personal struggle. He's perfect in every way and that's *boring.*

What about that one time he went berserk on the Porcupine Grongi? Also, Godai is still arguably a better character. Why?
Because as the series progresses, Godai’s smile became fake because of the Grongi’s attacks. He may not show it, because he knows he has to stay strong. And you can tell that Godai isn’t really smiling. Then during the final fight, Godai was crying because of the fact he is doing this, while Daguva is laughing because he wants Godai to snap.
Sure, Godai could have been done better, but I still stand by my point that he is better than Onodera, even though Onodera has potential.
@@horaciosi Hell, he isn't that flawless, as besides what I said, Godai never truly healed from what happened with the Grongi. Why do you think he was traveling around the world again in the final episode? To rediscover his smile. Those scars from the battles with the Grongi will never go away, and he had to travel to at least heal from them.
Honestly would've been more intresting if Decade really was a destroyer of worlds. A gray morality Rider who destroys heroes and villians would make for a really different story for any Rider

How would they even adapt something like Decade. Dragon Knight and Masked Rider are the only ones adapted in the west, so are they gonna go make up new heroes? (That would actually be cool, even if undermines the aniversary aspect of Decade) And then you have to consider the option of having a completely different Ryuki adaption seeing how Dragon Knight is not owned by Hasbro (now that I think about it, did Saban sell the rights for Masked Rider too?)

If feel like, the story of the legend riders in decade are not an episode but a season that got condense into one episode. That's the reason the story seems off.
I will say this
A friend of mine showed me 'at the time' the most recent Kamen Rider Series which was W. He loved it and wanted me to get into it BUT the last time I watched something like that was Power Rangers Lost In Space as I thought 'I got to old for it....yes I know big mistake'
I loved the idea of W and in the USB Stick it had the movie and he told me 'skip Decade part' but I thought....why.
Watched it and fell in love with Decade right there. The Sound effects, The Cards, That Clock Up/Invisible/Final Attack Ride at the start was to me epic plus the idea of 1 Rider vs all sort of like what if the Green Ranger won in the end in Green With Evil.
After that movie I then sought out the rest of his story as I just enjoy the idea of him traveling and photography 'which I can relate to quite a bit'
If I had just watched W I would probley have just stuck with him and thats it BUT thanks to Decade I decided to watch every Kamen Rider series and give them a try and thus fell in love with Kabouto, Wizard and Ex-Aid so I owe it to Decade for making me stick with Kamen Rider as a whole :)

Decade was the first rider show I watched and I was watching it when Build was airing. I thought the concept of the show was great, a rider able to change to past riders. It showed me what the heisei riders before Decade were like. Now the story does off the rails after the journey through the 9 worlds. Decade is a mess but a guilty pleasure
Idc decade is the best he had an episode crossover with super Sentai. Best Character ever, literally the most badass and coolest
Plus he fought aganst Marvelous before and if thats not enough Tsukasa his not human.

Kamen Rider got me back into Kamen Rider and rest is history. Suck it got cut half to series. I’m very surprise of actor who play Decade got involved in so many special cameo in later movies and series. That is why Decade will be my one two favorite Heisei Riders.

Ironically, when Wataru said that in the movie, he meant that Decade's job was to support the other Riders' stories and help them develop into heroes. However, since that meant Tsukasa got virtually no character development or plot, people use that line to describe Decade as a whole.

I watched all the season in the chronological order and when I got to Decade i really enjoyed the series. I never had an issue with multiverse switching things up and I don't expect everything to make 100% sense in a fiction. Tsukasa is one of my favorite protagonist in the whole KRU.

It might not be a popular opinion but I actually think Decade is a great first season to watch because of its multiverse aspect
You get the gist of what the rider worlds are about without outright spoiling them and also get a taste of their powers and skills too

It's finally time to journey through the Decade
I was quite surprised that I've actually saw all of Decade, without knowing it. Weirdly enough Decade was my very first season if I wanted to not count Dragon Knight, I initially thought Dragon Knight was connected somehow but finding it something entirely different was a shock to me, but has sent me on an interesting journey through the Decades. Though I'm lacking in the paying attention department of keeping my attention on the actual story of every season as I watch it. If I could find a proper place to watch each of the shows I would most likely watch them all over again.
you hit on what makes decade both very fun and a slog to get through at the same time at 20:31. It has a lot of great fanservice and awesome moments, I'd say every episode has at least one scene worth seeing. but the journey to get those moments is just dull. a very feast or fame show

21:40 there was a theory I read a while back from a video I’ll try to find it and edit this comment but it stated that in the original ending for decade before it was changed in the trailer Narutaki says I’ll reveal my true identity and from set photos you could see him with a camera the same one as decade and the conclusion was that Tsukasa was an AR rider and Narutaki was the original decade
I talked about that set at the end.
