    The railway items are part of a fledgling railway preservation attempt that seems to have stalled in recent yrs.. the viaduct was part of the Somerset and Dorset Railway that closed in 1966.. it ran from Bournemouth to Bath through the Mendip Hills.. cheers for an interesting video.

    • @Jimbaloidatron
      @Jimbaloidatron Před 2 lety +4

      It is still in use; after just a little digging (no quarry pun intended) you can find out that the quarry is a site of special scientific interest (fossils) and that the light railway system within it is privately owned, hence the railway cars being worked on, the tracks being maintained, and those big nuts being all shiny and new. If they'd gone in through 'the front way', they'd have been met by active workings, new industrial units, big gates and lots of CCTV cameras.

    What a fantastic - beautiful place - thanks for the upload. Would be great to know it's history. Sad about the trains just left to rot. Love the way it's become nature's domain again and you're right the bridge is spectacular. Local town library or townhall or nearest town/city may even have a museum - with even online. Who built that bridge for starters - got to be records.

    Man so much is in such good shape built that place well out of some thick concrete, that storage facility has such preserved machines makes me wonder if they got restored and with that place built like a fortress it turned into a great place to keep them in good shape. Definitely not a completely forgotten place. Wonder what's going into the ground by the conveyor coming from the hopper at ground level. Looked like there was a huge pit with grates over it too between the hopper and storage building...cool place

    Re- Your prev video with Full Throttle with lots of Rovers. We had our Rover 25 written off & purchased a new Ford Focus MK2, 05 plate, which was a recent new model. The Ford dealership enquired if we had a trade-in, & we explained our write off Rover. Around this time Rover had gone into receivership (think Chinese were interested), Salesman advised us that head office had requested all Rovers be removed from forecourt and no Rover to be taken as trade in. When we finally got the Rover write off cheque the Insurance loss advisor advised that if the accident had happened 2 weeks later, the pay out would of been less than half what we got, but we were fortunate the accident ( and therefore valuation date) was prior to Rover cars valuation price crash. Could the amount of Rovers at this forest be aligned with dealers desperate to rid their forecourt of Rovers at that time?
