Im no panthers fan but that try they awarded wigan was outrageous 😂
I was also surprised.
From a Wigan fan I can say the ref played a good part in our win tbh
Your not a Wigan fan stop lying now haha your from Australia hahaha
Doesn’t mean they can’t support the other team
(Panthers supporter here)
Still, than Panthers are the best in the world. To beat them with ref calls going your way, is still impressive.
an honest man you are mate
@@JamesWillis-yy5px they attempted to be the best in the world and lost the world club challenge yet again, 3 out of 4 attempts lost lol
The sting was in..no Penrith supporter but ...decision-making was of a home town flavour.
Penrith had 30 minutes after that and bombed 3 legit chances, also - The ref made the decision, have respect for the ref as the NRL said last year when players and staff questioned them we are told they are beyond reproach.
Penrith have ruled the ref the past 3 years, Cleary goes missing again...he has only had one good 14mins of play ever in the gf last year and they reckon is is the best ever, failed in more big games than any other half in history..well done Wigan overall outplayed penrith
So now double movements and short of the line count as tries? Might as well make it rugby
No point in even watching these games if they are going to allow this behaviour
ruined the game
@@yikez8157 forward passes I can overlook because they are called in real time with the perception the ref has available. But when the video ref can’t get an obvious double movement call right, that’s a different story
@@marcus86tiger video ref saw the double movement but refused to call it...
The double movement didn’t even get him to the line, he had to slide it forward on a third attempt
Fact: the referee officiating that match is Wigan born. No joke
This is what the Warriors experience every week.
get over it
The fact that it was that close for the ref to have that much of an impact is a joke to the nrl..
waa waa keep crying
Majority of the trys where done from video ref who is from Leeds
Sheesh. Knights supporter here. Forward passes? Double movement? Wowzer!
Yeah I can not stand Penrith, but they definitely got the short end of that deal

There is no way known to mankind that Wigan scored that try. Short of the line by 6 inches.
Oddly enough it was given 🤔
More like 6 metres
And Penrith's 2nd looked held up, but what can you do 🤷 some go for you, some against, not like you Aussies have never benefitted from poor decisions over the years, swings & roundabouts - try again next year 👍

Being in the middle of it all as i was is insane. The noise and vibe was pure fire all game long.

Super League Is Good To Watch.. This Is Why Cleary Ain't The ''GOAT'' He's Not On SMITH, THURSTON, AND CRONK LEVEL He Needs LUAI By His Side
Wigan scored a try with a couple of boderline forward passes & another was either short or a double movement.Liam Martin did a ball steal when the other two players dropped off & got penalised. Some proper dodgy decisions tonight...
@markfoster2033 it was actually a triple movement, as for the forward passes, the 2nd one was a good couple of metres.
That Wigan try was a triple movement that didn’t even get the ball over the line. Courtesy match played by NRL away every year during prime Super League season. And what’s with the soccer field line markings
What a way the uk run the rugby league way too dodgy
Thats why CLEARY ain't the ''GOAT'' He's not on SMITH, THURSTON, OR CRONK LEVEL he needs Luai By His SIDE

Panthers got a taste of their own medicine , most of their matches in the NRL the Refs always on their side 😂😂😂
Aussies always make a great game, even when they lose, it's never by much. Well done Wigan. Respect from NZ
Penrith had it all against them. Horrible decisions from officials, many of which aren’t even on the highlights and every ‘50/50’ call went Wigan’s way. The fact that they were in that game til the final seconds was testament enough to how hard they played. This all coming from someone who’d love to see them get knocked off the top in NRL 😂

Forward pass 1:20, clearly not grounded 2:30, 3:26 foot infront of kicker. Thats just in the highlights.
Based on the double movement try interpretation, the last Penrith try should have been awarded
Moment and camera isn't in line its behind the ball. Did ground it but probably double movement. Yes he was offside hence no try.
@@jamespopcorn11 provably a double movement? The ball was grounded short of the line and he raised it to promote it closer. The only way that’s not a double movement is if the rules were changed before this game
Not a forward pass, the camera is behind the players and was passed on the line 1:20, could have gone either way due to the on field decision being a try and there being no good angles 2:30, 3:26 If you didnt realise the try was disallowed because he was slightly offside, fixed your excuses for you lmk if you need me to be your caregiver to help you more.

Whenever Penrith loses, the rugby world wins.
Since Penrith always have the refs on their side its time for the refs to be against them so they know the feeling

Shut up 😂
I'm from NZ but you guys always crying about the refs are so annoying.
Wardle's try was never a try.
Camera angles play tricks: First angle I thought it was rolled over in one motion but the final angle it was "no way". I think tbh 2d screen and on-field process is probably the reason for the try being given not any given serious blunder or conspiracy theory as others leap to.
@@commentarytalk1446 insufficient evidence but he awarded the try.
Thats because the ref called try so he doesn't have the evidence to say otherwise
After it was awarded as a try the replays used angles the ref hadn't and they showed the ball more clearly. What's that about?

Congratulations Wigan
What a game , well done Wigan
What a shame.
To all the Aussie fans - i can recommend a great restaurant where they are serving sour grapes
This is true ref rugby. Well done.
Bevan French's disallowed try was a brilliant piece of attacking rugby that Penrith never produced on the night. Their first try was from a lucky bounce off a Wigan players head after a 'last resort' bomb. Wigan's defence was excellent all night and given the possession that Penrith had, they showed very little attacking rugby.
Congratulations to the Wigan Warriors 🍒🤍 🏆👏... Peter from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Aside from the double movement, awesome match up
And the forward pass. And the Penrith try at the end which wasn't called.
It's so funny. Just rewatched the last years game... Every Penrith try should have been disallowed from obstruction.....I didn’t hear the Aussie's crying then
Absolutely ridiculous that Wigan was allowed that try !
You can never trust a man in blue but one team had more spirit than the other.
That ref deserves a Medal, this is the same dude that won man of the match in a couple of the PNG Kumuls World Cup games.
Nathan Cleary has now pulled off the Trifecta - State of Origin, the Pacific Cup and this. Sure, three premierships for the Panthers but ffs, how about some consistency ? I'm a very long way from the Bronco's biggest fan, but when Darren Lockyer ran onto the field you knew you were watching a superstar. I'm tired of commentators referring to Cleary as 'the greatest player in the game' : it's the kiss of death IMO.
He didn't play in the Pacific cup
I stand corrected - still doesn't give him a pass. Maybe he'll turn it around this SOA.
Consistently going to the GF for 4 years. Idk about you but that does sound like consistency to me.
@@mcnamarapogla sure, but I expect that sort of talent to shine for his state and his country.

The Way I See It Is Penrith Didn't Deserve To Win Anyway 😂
English coaches and halves are serially underrated
Unfortunately most of them can’t make it big time in the NRL though. They are great game managing halves though no doubt but they’re not quite there yet in being in the upper echelon of Halves like Cleary, DCE, Munster, SJ etc.
Harry smith has become more consistent 6/10 (a few years ago that was missing)but his ceiling is not close to being high enough for NRL. Nowhere near
Referee man of the match
The video ref definitely won't overturn that decision! 😂
Good game. Wigan scored some great tries. Shame the Panthers are in preseason mode. I’d say they would win a return leg by 30 or 40 points.
The English League season only began about a week ago, so not much difference.
NZ Warrirs fan absolutely despise penrith but that was some shocking refereeing. Forward pass try, short of the line try, then the final play is on field decision no try, whereas the same wigan scenario was on field decision try. Let these athletes play without the refs putting a grey cloud over everything. From watching the game I though Wigan looked like the better side but they were robbed of a definitive victory by some blatantly bias refereeing.
French and field 🔥🔥
I ❤ Wigan Warriors 🍒🤍
When the player landed short the ref was ingoal but by the time he came around the ball appeared near/on the line so he called it as such. Video ref looked and said there was no promotion of the ball so went with the on field call- which was based on when he came around to his side in view
Regardless of a couple of dubious decisions which we see in NRL every week..the fact Wigan even stayed in the game is a credit to how far SL has come recently. Panthers brought their 1st team. Some salty aussies here 😂
Well said mate. If Penrith are so much better than Wigan, then how come we are arguing over 'ONE' try decision. surely Penrith should have been out of sight!!! Great shame French was a millimetre offside, you don't see tries that good in the NRL.
One try decision can change everything mate.
@@Ammisay Has Penrith never had a decision go in their favour? Most Aussies thought they'd win by 30. Arguing over one try shows what a great game it was.
@@davidhart7792 First of all it was TWO tries that were dubious not one and the winning margin was 4 points. So even if it was only one try it was literally the difference between winning and losing.
@@benjaminhunt6235 Wigan's defence was awesome from the first minute to the last and they produced the much better attacking rugby with limited possession. Under SL rules, Bevan French's try from a brilliant move would most likely have been awarded.
Unlikely panthers advocate here as a broncos supporter, but that was pretty suss.
To be honest it’s an international game it should be a international referee, An NZ/French referee?

Penrith had it in the bag and blew it. Cant blame the ref for a choke like that.
So I guess u can score a double movement try
Can you add in dates of when the games take place in the descriptions or titles?
Every year the Panthers bleed talent with their stars leaving. Last year was no different, off to a bumpy start yet still managed to secure the premiership. Can only wait and see how they go this year.
I have insufficient evident to determine if this game was fairly officiated.

Double movement try gave them the advantage to win the match. I have seen England Rugby League and there are many rules they don't follow, such as this. Well done Aussie Panthers.
Good game. That Wardle try could have gone either way. One thing I do know though is Bevan French is too good to not be playing in the NRL
French's early career issues at Parramatta were that he suffered from repeated injuries, plus a attitude problem (that he's since admitted to) when fit.
Wigan's patience with him for long periods of unavailability have been part of making him the player and adult person that he now is.
If he goes back to the NRL, he'll be better than if he'd stayed.
He did play in the NRL then decided to come to Wigan instead, seems like the right choice seeing as they beat the best aussie team
