- I've been using and testing Brightwater's S-series and S-mini for nearly two years now, but is it really worth this much testing? Why do I like it and how does it stand up to your typical ceramic ring?

I use the Brightwater S mini in all my filters and love it.
Thanks for the video! Love your content. Cant wait to see an update on the aqua sky lights
Great review. I will look for this media before I set up my next tank.
I absolutely love your reviews. Best in the biz, IMO
thank you for the review, I dont have anything I can use this in yet, but i am saving this review for when i do. =D
Dang!!! Wish I knew this on prime day... thanks for the review, I'm replacing my media in my canister shortly. It's come in handy! 💕
Thank you Bentley for another fine review.
imo I think all ceramic medias will work and you should just use what works for you. but I might try this one in the future. I love the videos bentley keep it up :)
Thanks for the review. I was tempted to buy some during prime day but I really didnt need it.
Bentley, good review.
I have had some in my canister filter for about an year and a half. I have had good success, no deteration of the media.
Tried to buy some on prime day for my sump but they didn't have them on sale anymore.
Thanks for sharing ✍
I use the mini in a fluval 107 and water is great. Pulled some out for a aquaclear20 for a friend and water was great as well.
I've been running brightwater for a while now. I bought a bulk bag on Amazon a year or two back, like 10 or 20 pounds, I don't remember. Have it in fx2s, fx3s, aquaclear 110s, and tidal 110s. I really like the stuff.
Thanks for sharing Bentley! - Little Bobby
Looks like very good stuff. I am currently using something similar, but for the life of me I cant remember what it is called. Its been so long ago since I bought it. It also has very porous looking round ball form media. Also came in a block form for sumps. Was very dusty though I might add. If that stuff you have goes on sale again, I will buy some and try it out. I Love your product review videos BTW.
How much more capacity would you estimate vs. ceramic rings? ~20%? Thinking about upgrading a filter instead of adding another to my grow out 150 gallon tub. Love these types of reviews :)
Likely more around double
Looks like a good product, is it available, in the uk , I wouldn’t mind trying this 💯👍👍
Hey Bentley!
Thanks for the review/follow up
I am considering replacing my old fluval media with this. (I've always looked at the biohome stuff). Maybe you can do a comparison in terms of your thoughts on those two products, maybe even Collab with the pond guru?
Ok so, I have tidal 75s and a smaller tidal 55 and a smaller tidal 35 for a Betta tank. I want to replace the media. The small looks fine for the 75s, but might be too big for the 55 and smaller? Do you know if brightwell has anything of similar performance in smaller size? Pea size or slightly larger.
I know they have a few newer options, but not sure if it's smaller than mini
@@BentleyPascoe I'll check it out, thanks!
What can you say about the Aquario Neo Media? They have 3 types: Soft, Pure & Hard. Haven’t heard much about them.
Never heard about them until you mentioned them.
@@BentleyPascoe hope they send you some for you to try. I’m curious about the product. 🤓
Tell them to hurry up an start selling in the UK!
Looks a very interesting product.... Would also like to give it a shot
I use something called bio home ultimate a CZcamsr called The pondguru makes it. I don't know if it's available outside the UK.
What results have you had? Specifically any nitrate reduction?... And has that adversely affected your plant growth?
is there really any significant difference between this and Matrix? I've got a Tidal 75 on a 20g tall. with the original course sponge, a little bit of poly-floss, and as much Matrix as it will hold. I'm guessing that's about 1&1/2 liters + or - .. I've got good flow and plenty of oxygenation. the only difference I can see here is the shape. other than that they appear to be pretty much the same thing ??
Matrix is made from pumice, this is a ceramic media.
🥇
Hi Bentley, is that a road fish in tank behind you?
Danger Noodle, the dojo loach
it's unavailable right now, where do I get it ?
I talked to Brightwater a bit ago, they were having some supply chain issues and it looks like they still are
I know it's not nearly as porous but I use a lot of round black lava rock in my tanks and you can put them in filters too but they look good inside the tank which is how I use them so that my filter only pulls particulates out. Efficiency or laziness not too sure which one 😂
hi
Looks like a copy ofbiohome biogravel just bigger but does it support anaerobic bacteria best media is kattylittre n redclay in a bcb basket lasts forever takes ammonia out the systems u don't get nitrite and nitrates
Biohome gravel is more of a copy of the eheim pebble media, which is significantly different in structure and size.
@@BentleyPascoe I disagree there biogravel may look like eheim substrate pro but in fact is very different it's made from different size particles of sand and pressed in a kelm to go solid because its made from sand its very poris and is full of od tunnels water that travels through it slows right down and it supports anaerobic bacteria as for eheims substrate Pro that's made from glass ceramic partacals and won't support anaerobic bacteria where as biogravel will biogravel the same as biohome pellets the reson they made the gravel is to pack out small filters to the max I bought 6kgof biogravel years ago for £106 and I use it in my a few of my canister filters because by using biogravel I steed of biohome ultimate u can fit say 1.4kgin a tray I steed of 1kg of ultimate that makes a huge difference
@@matyodea1058 I love mixing biohome ultimate and biogravel in my canister, usually I pack one side of the tray with ultimate and the other side with biogravel then next tray I switch their side, that way it make the water flow everywhere in the canister while creating area where the water flow slowly.
It does not affect much the overall FX6 flow as I have the FX spray bar kit and the water come out like crazy. 😀
just get white pumice, if you want smaller size smash it down. much much cheaper than branded stuff
also if want it dust free, get a bucket at dollar store, take it to backyard fill it upl w/ tap water n open ur dirt/media/rock package submerge
