“Save Me” and “Spring Day” are older songs and were great choices to sing during this pandemic time. “Save Me” written is an ambigram with song “I’m Fine” used to address depression and anxiety, and it's like having a secret message and illusion, because people can say to others “I'm fine" but in reality that person internally doesn’t feel that way and should be saved at all costs “Save Me”. The beat of Save Me is upbeat and happy (external appearance) but lyrics are sad (true internal feelings). I’m sure allot of people are going through deep depression during this time and need someone to listen to them and offer comfort. And “Spring Day” a song RM wrote about missing friends and loved ones (with supposed inspiration of Sewol Ferry Tragedy). The hundreds of kids that died that day would have graduated college this year. It’s a nice song to perform to honor their memory as well 😢. Spring Day is a sad song but there is also hope, because lyrics say even if it feels like winter in summer (August), after the “winter” there is new Hope and beginnings in the blooms of Spring.💜 BTS is art and create music with intention and explore deeper meanings of humanity.

    • @AngelaSealana

Thanks for giving this comment. Yes, just in case C & T aren't aware, the Sewol Ferry Tragedy was a South Korean accident involving school children that turned into a nationwide scandal, contributing to the impeachment of the then-president of South Korea. BTS' song "Spring Day", but especially the music video, is said to have been inspired by this disaster.

I was try to figure out who was who and never got it right. She would laugh. she loved that I kept getting them wrong. So one weekend I was determined to learn them and surprise her. I watched dope over and over again because they all have a solo part where I could study each face. By the end of the weekend I had fallen into the BTS rabbit hole and now I’m in this BTS shit for life. Being army is for real. I’m not some young fan girl I’m a grandmother of teenage girls. It is interesting how English native speakers have this kind of prejudge or dificulty about to listen music in other languages. Me as a native Spanish speaker had listened to music in English since I was a kid, and all people around the world whose speak in their own languages listen to music in English as well. Pretty much ever since we discovered YT, we've done weekly searches. Someone shouts out a country, someone shouts out a music genre....we've found some AMAZING groups and artists. Scandinavian Metal, Indian Jazz, Irish Folk Music...the list goes on. That's actually how I discovered BTS back in 2013 - Korean Pop was one of the searches my family did.

Lo cual es erróneo, pero siento que las cosas se han ido abriendo un poco por medio de la musica. Es un pequeño paso a que nos entendamos entre diferentes culturas y lenguajes y siempre es muy placentero aprender cosas nuevas. @@ashleyder9164 Have you watched this? czcams.com/video/FrT4a_Fw6pE/video.html
It is much more 'believable' about the MV being a tribute to Sewol. I think there is often confusion between the *song's* meaning and the *MV's* message. That must annoy you! Of course the song and MV can be interpreted many ways because they are art, but the references to the disaster in the MV are incontrovertible, as that video shows. It makes BTS so much more amazing to be facing political controversy in a subversive way. It's what made me ARMY. 💜

    • @ashleyder9164
      @ashleyder9164 Před 3 lety +9

@@flyushkifly Oh, I am sure the MV intended to reference the tragedy, but I do get *very* annoyed by everyone's blind insistence that this is what the *song* is completely and totally about. RM has been very clear about his inspirations and even once their donations to the victims became public knowledge, when asked, he stated he wanted to leave the interpretation of the song and MV open/undefined so that each person could draw their own meaning from it.
Consequently, I find it disrespectful to go against his wishes and swarm every. single. reactor. with that one theory video as if it is some God given truth and tell literally everyone that the song is about the Sewol ferry tragedy. It's fine for people to personalise that meaning themselves if they want to, but they shouldn't be pushing it on others.
It not only goes against the explicit wishes of the artist, but it potentially robs people of the ability to connect meaningfully with the song in other ways for other reasons.
Additionally, the most popular theory video that every treats as incontrovertible truth has some aspects to it that I actually actively disagree with. Not in the larger context of the MV memorializing the tragedy, but in some of her specific interpretations of specific symbolism. And I have watched one too many reactors have genuine and earnest connections with the song and interpretations of their own and literally been told by ARMY, "No, you're wrong, it means something else entirely," and then had that "explanation" video shoved at them.
It wouldn't bother me nearly as much if people were more open about it being a *theory*, but they aren't. They call it an "explanation" video and act like nothing in it can or should be questioned.
I honestly feel like it is less about the song for some peope and more about wanting to get others caught up in the "emotionality" of the tragedy.

How to recognize them by their voices!
    Vocalists:
Jin (oldest) has more nazily, very honey sweet voice, he learned how to sing and dance after joining BTS💜
Jungkook is the main vocalist and has very breathy dreamy and veerry stable voice! His techniques are really amazing💜
Jimin is the lead vocalist and has the highest pitch. Very easy to recognize him. His voice is angelic, light and beautiful 💜
V has the deepest voice among the vocalists. Though his vocal range is crazy, he can go very low and very high. His voice is deep, soulful, breathy...ideal for r&b vibes!💜
    Rappers
RM (leader) is the main rapper, his voice is very deep and more raspy. I think u can recognize him easily as well💜
Suga is the lead rapper. His style of rapping is more aggressive though he can do it also calmly😁💜don’t know how to describe Yoongi’s voice🥺he’s unique...
J-hope is the lead rapper also. He started rapping after joining BTS! His glow is amazing🙈he can also sing very well though💜

The balance of their Group is that all the members sing and rapper in each song, that's why in their concerts, they have solos, then You can see their individual skills. RM is the leader and Jin the Oldest member. In each Group of K-POP are differents roles and everyone respect and support. That role is for skills, Jungkook is the Main vocalist for example. They live together for 7 years , they respect each other so much and cheers each other improvement. If You know them You can have one favorite you will love all of them... Really!!!

Thanks for your reaction! Here's a tip for learning who they are. Because they change their hair so often, you should go with their mic colors! They haven't always had those, but it's been at least a few years. From left to right on the screen, their names are: J-Hope (red mic), Suga (black mic), Jungkook (purple mic), V (green mic), Jin (pink mic or more recently white), RM (light blue mic), and finally Jimin (gold mic).
In K-Pop, the leader is always mentioned first, then you go from oldest to youngest. Many asian cultures are big on hierarchy, including South Korea, so this is why Jin theoretically could make the younger members do what he wants, but he does not. There have been instances in other groups where the members were not such good friends and the oldest members mistreated the youngest. In BTS, RM is actually the middle child! If we put all the members in order of age:
    Jin (1992)
    Suga (1993)
    J-Hope (February 1994)
    RM (September 1994)
    Jimin (October 1995)
    V (December 1995)
    Jungkook (1997)

“They make great music” yes they indeed make some good af music, I know some songs that I’m sure you’re gonna like and hopefully you’ll get to listen to more!
I’ve seen you like Jimin’s voice and I’d be so cool if you could listen to his solo song “serendipity” plus the live performance.
He’s such a captivating performer and the song is so good, I’m sure you’ll like it!
Also fun fact since you’ve been confused with who is the leader and who is the oldest.
As widely known in Asian cultures older people have more authority and they have to be respected by those younger.
So even if you’re an year younger than your friend you still have to be respectful to them and in certain cases even use honorifics. Asian cultures put a lot of value on respecting the older people.
So if you have a group of people, usually the older member is the leader of said group as they, traditionally, have the most authority, but in the case of bts they don’t go by age and decided to pick a leader who truly has the characteristics of one.
RM has the characteristics of a leader, he’s very levelheaded and trustworthy

I work with university international students and those students and my adult kids are jazzed that I, too, love BTS. It's okay that it takes a while to be able to distinguish between the members. But once you get it, you'll have it. I don't have a bias because each member contributes uniquely to the group. Keep watching. The amount of content these young men have produced is astounding. It is good music, diverse genres, and inspiring. And Army is amazingly supportive of the boys/men. I support them so that they can continue to send out positivity into the world. They support good causes as human beings and I'm all about that, too! I recommend "Magic Shop" and "Epiphany", "0:00 O'clock" and "Lights". I have many favorites, but with mental health being such an issue, these are really good.

The MV for Save Me was shot in one-take. It was a cold ass rainy day and they ran through a bunch of rehearsals then shot it in one take.... in sand o_O. The song Spring Day was written about missing people/childhood friends, but it has become synonymous with the Sewol Ferry tragedy that occurred in S. Korea where 300 people (mostly high school students) drown. Spring Day was released in 2017 and has never left the Korean music charts. The MV for Spring Day has a LOT of references that relate to the tragedy.

If you decide to watch the music video, it is imperative to watch explanation videos on the music video to gain a complete understanding of the lyrics and meaning of the song. A decent chunk of us are American, so I know what you’re talking about about listening to their songs. When I was new, I loved listening to their songs before I looked up the lyrics, because I definitely wanted to know if they matched what I was feeling. Listening to them feels like I know what they’re saying. Music really is a universal language, because it feels like they’re speaking my language (because they are singing/rapping from within. Their sincerity comes through in their music). But when I look up the lyrics, I was blown away 🤯 It’s always deeper, nuanced and complex but relatable than I thought it was gonna be based on the song title and how much of bangers they are.
RM is the leader, but in terms of age, he’s right smack dab in the middle of all of them. The reason is because he is the original member that the label signed him, because he’s so dang talented in not just as a rapper (from underground as you know by now) but what he raps/writes about is something that interested the CEO. He wanted to surround RM with talent that are along those lines (especially when they were supposed to be a hip-hop group at first). Anyway, that is why RM is the leader, then after him the order of age starts with Jin, then so on until the youngest Jungkook. The fan chant of names goes in that order. In their culture in general, whoever is the oldest has the most authority. So RM may be the leader of BTS, but he still respects those who are older than himself which is Jin, Suga, and J-Hope (though they are born the same year). They trust and support him in his role, which I know RM appreciates and they all are just such a good team and good bros. The guy you guys seem to like with the high voice is Jimin, he’s the third youngest lol. In terms of age order regardless of role, it’s Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook.
As in the first song Dynamite, it literally came out over two months ago and is on radio right now :) It #1 on the Hot 100 for first two weeks (three weeks overall), beating WAP and Dynamite just never left the top two of that chart for about two months. So this performance is actually recent. Save Me and Spring Day are older songs, but they are really good songs. Spring Day in particular is a special song, you’ll soon find out later on in your journey getting to know them and their music. In special performances like this (non-tour concerts), they tend to include songs that fit the current situation. So we are or have been in hard times this year with all that’s been going on, so other than that they’re good songs, they fit how we’re feeling right now and they’re just trying to be a light and encouragement to those of us who need it.

In order from left to right (A little help to better identify them) :
J-Hope (almost always smiling - sunshine - or dancing ... remember, he is the main dancer, his voice is similar to Suga in some songs, but his flow is more slow) ; Suga (fast flow, serious expression - not always, sometimes he gives a sweet shy smile - softly, swag); Jungkook (usually sings most of the choruses - main vocalist -, tatoo, most of the time he has black hair, sometimes he is very shy, the vocal is more stable in the choregraphs); V (deep voice, square smile, always saying very sweet things - especially about the Army - Jimin's best friend - it's almost always easy to see him by his side, hugging, joking, etc. - he is very excited in general); Jin (high and emotional voice, laughs and smiles a lot, very sincere, broad shoulders - really -, older with a baby face), RM (You are doing well with him, but as an additional help, he likes to change his hair color a lot , so keep an eye on the older mvs) and Jimin (baby face, high and sweet voice, contemporary dancer, so remember the difference in your dance moves, they are usually very smooth, complex and acrobatic). I hope I helped

What has been helping me a lot lately in trying to learn member names in different kpop groups (currently working on Seventeen and I'm STRUGGLING) is watching fan uploads of their MVs with names, so for example "Dynamite MV w/ names". It literally has their names just pop up over their heads while they sing. It helps a lot with situations where you're like "I THINK that's such-and-such" to actually see if you're right or not.

Don't know if you guys know this or not. But it was revealed today that Suga had shoulder surgery on November 3rd and has to to take a break from group activites. I hope he has a speedy and good recovery. It must be a bit difficult for him considering they are releasing a new album in 2 weeks and are due for many year end performances so lets show him a lot of love. The music video for Save ME is a 1 take music video and in the behind the scenes footage you see it was really cold and raining on that day when they were rehearsing it. Spring Day is called the "queen" because it hasn't left the Korean music charts since it came out over 3 years ago. People feel that Spring Day is partly about the Sewol Ferry Incident in South Korea. The ferry sank and hundreds of high school students died. The captain and many crew members survivied because they escaped before it sank after telling the students and teachers to remain in their rooms instead of helping get off the ferry. It's a very sad story. This tiny desk concert is from this year. Save Me the song is from 2016 and Spring Day is from 2017. But that was the first time they performed Dynamite with a live band, but they've played with a live band before numerous times. It's kind of funny how people all over the world in mostly non english speaking countries have no problem listening to english songs and will learn the english lyrics, but for whatever reason in the US it's still a very foreign thing for a lot of people. But I see that slowly changing because I truely believe music is a universal language. Jungkook the youngest has the tattoos on his hand. RM is the leader, but Jin is the oldest. Don't worry too much about it, you'll get their names eventually and wonder how you even mixed them up to begin with. Thanks for reacting.

Someone probably already mentioned this, but Suga's verse in Spring Day (the last song which makes me cry every time I hear it) is probably about an old friend of his who took up drugs, was sent to jail, and when he was released still couldn't get past the drugs and even wanted Suga to do them with him so Suga had to let go of the friendship. The lyrics of that part are heart-breaking to me. Suga's lyrics are always so real and he shares so much of himself.

If you have never tried to speak in a foreign language, BTS gives a good idea of what it's like. Sometimes it feels phony. Sometimes disorienting. You can see that internal struggle when some of them talk.

Just a fun fact, the last song they performed, Spring Day was released in 2017. It was their first song to get Song of the Year in South Korea and is still charting in the biggest music platform in their country even after 3 years. It's deeply meaningful, there are lots of explained videos here on youtube. It's one of my favorite song ms from them.

Enjoy the BTS journey. I am about two months counting appreciating their songs. I usually listen first and search the English meanings of their lyrics and I am enjoying their music more.
