I'll never understand the US law system....Lawn Darts are illegal but you can basically purchase any type of gun legally. Probably because Firearms are expensive and highly taxed and Lawn Darts are not.

Good lord why is it so hard for people to explain the difference between lawn darts and firearms. Lawn darts are not weapons and are not treated as weapons, kids dont think they are weapons and they treat them as toys. Because they are children they are careless and less coordinated and by accidently hit and injure or kill people. Firearms are for the most part weapons, they are treated with Much more respect than lawn darts. Adults use firearms realise the threshold of danger firearms have and use them responsibly. There is a reason it is illegal for minors to own firearms. Lawn darts are just not seen as weapons so are used as toys, very dangerous toys.

We used to have those saws in technical classes in school, an absolute must if you're doing any precision wood cutting. You can also use a fretsaw if you're a masochist.

The lawn dart set I had as a kid had a design where the head slid along the shaft so that when you swung them, they would slide forward and add a little more oomph. I loved playing with those. Why we got those banned from the entire US and not the bevy of weapons actually designed to kill or maim is nuts.
Your launcher is really cool, it reminds me of an underwater spear gun. I think if you make the dart's fins from sheet steel instead of plastic, they will hold up under much higher velocities.

Your launcher is really cool, it reminds me of an underwater spear gun. I think if you make the dart's fins from sheet steel instead of plastic, they will hold up under much higher velocities.
