This song isn't that bad at all. Also I want to make it clear that Namjoon has never said he regretted this song. He said that there are songs in the past that he's worked on that he regrets but he's never been specific. It's just that some fans think that this song taints this 'perfect Image' that they think Namjoon should have.
But then you also get some fans who request this song because they get some sort of kick out of hearing him use that kind of language.
I prefer to view this song from a more mature view. A lot of ARMYs do- RM made this cover when he was 17(18 Korean age). He made Korean lyrics that still kept the flow and vibe of the song, which is impressive. This song and a few others have been removed from soundcloud though we don't know the reason why, but some assume he himself took them down and is 'ashamed' of them.. but again, he's never said that. It's just fan rumor mostly started by those who rather he have this clean image.
I totally get behind this comment! I wanted to mention that it is an adaptation to Pharrell's song "Take It Off". I wonder why do armies think him singing this was a joke? (Is there something I missed? could be...) I see it as him trying new things. It wouldn't be the first or last time for that. Some tries fail and some produce good results. It is what it is. he was a young man and a rapper and I'm pretty sure the sterile image we have of him is not that accurate :DDD
i agree with you that its not really a big deal. but at the same time i feel like if its deleted from soundcloud, that probably means he's not the most comfortable with it anymore
his first mixtape "RM" is still on soundcloud and that has mature themes as well. so i think Expensive Girl being taken down is because he doesn't want to be associated with it anymore
Great comment!!! Absolutely agree with everything you said. Some really don't take this song for what it is. He was sharpening his skills with an existing song. If know the song then it's not as bad as people making it out to be. However since he is now an Idol people want to comment on his image as it relates to the lyrics. Also, he did this as a teenager, puberty, HELLO!! LOL
To be even more specific, it's not that the song is bad, it's the chorus part and in a particular lyric video as he sings the English chorus, a collage of wholesome Namjoon images passes by which makes the contrast too funny to bare 😆.
Namjoon did say he regretted it though. He took it off Soundcloud because he didn't want people to listen to it anymore. I don't think it's bad or embarrassing or anything, but he obviously does. So I don't think it's very respectful to ask people to listen to it or to search for it when he deleted it himself.
The "Ooohh" got me, his face when he said it..
The double standard though. Everyone knows when a western artist puts lyrics like that in their song, which a lot of them do, no one bats an eyelid. Why is rm being held to a different standard?

Also theres a difference in artist imagery in general, if someone like Ed Sheeran were to do a song like this or Taylor swift were to sing something from Megan repertuare, it would make people uncomfortable too. Simply because of how they market themselves.

It just always feels like as soon as one of them does something or expresses themselves in a way that isn't what we've come to expect from them, then there's all these judjements and finger pointing. As you say, it's down to the way people market themselves. None of the members are known for this kind of lyricism so I can see why people think it is cringe. And I'm not saying there wasn't a moment of where I did a double take for that exact reason. On the other hand, I'm a pretty Liberal person and I'm used to music like this so I don't find it as cringy as others do. Also, it wouldn't be the norm for someone like Ed sheeran to do a song like this but I don't feel like he would get half of the backlash rm has gotten. Which is pretty sad really.

3. It's a particular video with wholesome pictures showing as he sings the explicit chorus that shocks army because we are usually fed a more squeaky clean image of the group.
4. Not all army dislike this song we just find the contrast funny but acknowledge the song is a good cover.
5. It's mostly that chorus that sets us off with the giggles. And played with the wholesome pictures of Namjoon smiling innocently. 😃
I'm pretty sure he is ashamed or at least doesn't like the song since he deleted it off Soundcloud. I think it's a fine song, but I think we should respect RM's wishes and not ask people to go out and look for it when he deleted it for a reason.

Namjoon isn't dumb, he knows people will view it even if he deletes it from the main source. I personally don't know if it's out of shame, mere embarrassment or politics as to why he has deleted it so until I here from his own lips on the matter I'm Switzerland/ I don't care/ it's not that deep.

It's like if you deleted a picture you don't want on your instagram anymore. How would you feel if people kept bringing it up over and over again? It doesn't matter that he didn't say why he deleted it or the reasons, it's the fact that he deleted it in general.
