NOBODY will ever sound like the SONGBIRD! I would give this 150 thumbs up! Both of his brothers said he had the best voice! He is also underacknowledged as a songwriter. "Cryin' every day", "Heart like mine", "Fallen Angel", "Rings around the Moon"....heck, all stunning. His ad libs even when not singing lead lifted the songs to another level.
That versatile style, again takes their music to a level no one can ever match. Their innovation, genius creativity with wider sounds changing as heard here in many sophisticated ways that has made their music so very popular.
Their Voices r the Best.
I love their voices and their style as no one has. I need To listen To the Bee Gees every day, specialy in the night, when i am alone. They miss me all of three.
I think that their story, since Begining, is really magic and wonderfull. What a beautifull career ! Over 60 years ! The best group of singers for me, whith Thé Beatles and Elvis, of course.
They miss me, and hopefully, we have their wonderfull songs.

@@lynnchivres4425 - Yes, Robin co-wrote almost all....@90%....of the songs after @1966 when he turned 15....both for the Bee Gees and for other artists WITH Barry (and some alone like "Massachusetts" and "I started a joke") but people think Barry wrote everything and Barry never discouraged that idea. Maurice also helped write many of their songs (and an LP of his own) by finding the right chords and putting Barry and Robin's lyrics and melodies to music. He was the master musician. Robin also wrote 2 LP's in 1969 and 1970 during their split. Robin and Maurice wrote 3 solo LP's for Robin in the 80's, another about a decade later. Robin also wrote a beautiful LP which was released after he died and an orchestral piece "The Titanic Requiem" played by the Philharmonic. Barry said Robin was a very good songwriter.

Never understand why Mr Natural wasnt a massive hit,a brilliant album adore Robin's beautiful ethereal voice so full of emotions i feel every word he sings, i too wished he had sung Falsetto more, it was so smooth, Bee Gees took a lot of flack back in the day, but hey a new generation is still listening to their songs their music is timeless

Ah man, Robin’s voice was out of this world. There are some singers with good voices, some with great voices and then you get the odd handful which are so distinctive and unique that they are mesmerising. Robin was in that latter group. Oh, and Mr Natural (both album and song) are criminally underrated.
I'm a big Mr Natural fan. Kind of the last hurrah of the typical early-70s Robin.

What a great compilation! Two of my top 3 Robin lead songs are on here--For Whom the Bell Tolls and Mr. Natural. On both songs, Robin's chorus is just the bomb! Someone quoted that Robin has the best white soul voice ever. I totally agree. He can sing anything, even his falsetto is fantastic. He should have done more falsettos. What can Robin not do? Oh my. What a talented man he is. Truly the best!

She said that Barry's lead voice, although very good and powerful, would not have been enough to pull her in. That it was Robins stunning voice that drew her to The BeeGees! I Completely AGREE!!😍😎
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 - The same with me. Barry's voice was good but Robin's was absolutely unique among his peers and when I heard his voice in 1967, I went out and bought the Bee Gees LP. When the group split in 1969, Colin Peterson said the group would not be able to make it without his voice. Interestingly, Colin was fired shortly thereafter.
@@susieq9801 During the Split of '69 I heard that Barry tried to get their manager to *replace* Robin with a dude by the name of Peter somsthing-or-other??🤔 BUT..Stigwood was Smart enough to show Barry and that dude the damn freaking Door!!😉 NO ONE could replace Robin and Stigwood pulled back on his strong-arm tactics to try and force Robin back to the band. He left Robin alone and let him return in his own time and choosing. Smart move on Stigwoods part!😎

@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 - Peter Mason. Stigwood stopped it. The band with Vince and Colin was a tight little rocking unit. Loved that incarnation. Of course at the same time DJ's were coerced by Hugh, Robert and "others" not to play Robin's solo work but one DJ, ex Aussie Alan Freeman, did and he had a hit. Robin wrote a tribute to him on "50 St Catherine's Drive" and, in his capacity as President of the British Heritage Society, had a blue historic plaque placed on Freeman's home so we know the stories were true. Dirty dealings against poor Robin.

Thank you for all the work you put into making this wonderful!! compellation of some of Robin's most beautiful soul touching vocals. All of their albums are works of art and I have several favorites but Living Eyes is at the top of my list. I mean the masterpieces that are on that album, such as Robin's Don't Fall in Love with Me - I Still Love you - Crying Every day, and Barry's Be Who You Are (epic masterpiece!) and Nothing Could Be Good (Barry's chest voice at its most beautiful to my ears, he sounds like a horn instrument.) Living Eyes was the brothers' most sophisticated refined album and I think that it might take a refined ear to fully appreciate it, which may have been beyond the times it was made in. But It KILLS me that Living Eyes wasn't the worldwide phenom it deserved to be due to the fall out with Robert Stigwood and lack of his promotion team and the backlash, but that's the universe we live in... And it just goes to show the level of the brother's genius that even their albums that didn't soar the charts, for whatever reasons, are masterclasses in songwriting and musical genius such as Living Eyes and Mr. Natural.
This reminds me of those days when I taped robin’s songs in one cassette (and subsequently also on writeable CDs). A legend who can never be matched

I don’t like Robin’s early voice at all. But both it, and he, matured. And I like his voice later on. I am a Barry fan, but it simply is true that Robins voice is the winner in some of their songs. And in some song, Robin’s voice really puts the long over the top. For Whom the Bell Tolls is a good example. It is Robin’s voice that makes that song what it is. It was so haunting. Simply fabulous. It’s sad to think that we lost the Bee Gees so early. Together they were lightning in a bottle.

Хотелось бы чтобы это прочли те, кто начал разговоры о Робине, обвиняя его во всех грехах, недостатках, о его провалах, о его невыразительности и амбициях, не достигших цели.
Робин - суперзвезда, стоящая на одном пьедестале и на одном уровне с Барри. Робин больше, чем его внешность, чем его осанка на сцене и больше, нежели его эксцентричность, его искусство вне времени. Ему удалось сохранить свой неповторимый, уникальный голос до конца своих дней. И как это ни удивительно, но у Робина прекрасно получалось, несмотря на его кажущееся внешнее несовершенство, приковывать всеобщее внимание к себе, а не исчезать в тени своего великолепного брата. Взгляд зрителя скользил мимо самого красивого, и уже не мог оторваться от незаурядного. Представьте, такое тоже может быть. Через два года после смерти Робина в одном из интервью, Барри сказал, что петь песни, которые пел Робин, он не будет из уважения к памяти брата. Он не может петь его песни, потому что его голос потерял своё молодое звучание. И он не будет их петь, потому что он, вообще, никогда бы не смог этого сделать, не прежде, не теперь, ему это не дано.

Why did Robin get to sing so few of their songs? When I see the Bee Gees in concert Barry sings every song. No wonder Robin left the group for a while.
Thanks for your comment! Robin sang lead a lot, more than most people might think, and more than I included in these videos. One reason it might seem like Barry is always the one singing at concerts is that the greatest hits tended to be sung by Barry. But when you look at the albums, there is a much more even division of lead singer. In their official releases as the Bee Gees from 1967-2001, Barry sang 80% of lead vocals, Robin 48%, and Maurice 17%.
Stigwood's favoritism of Barry for lead vocalist is certainly a contributing factor to why Robin left. Barry had a more universally marketable sound, while Robin's voice is not for everyone. The record-buying public taught the Bee Gees throughout their career what proportion of BRM leads they preferred, from 100% Barry in Spirits Having Flown to 62%/62%/46% in Idea. Before the breakup, the lead vocals were shared more equally (70%/58%/ 18%).
It wasn't a matter of Robin "getting" to sing the songs; the brothers often said that they just naturally felt who was best to sing a particular song, without any ego involved. That said, there are instances of a change in lead vocalist from the demo to the final product, and we can only speculate why. We are all fortunate for the hundreds of Gibb songs we have at our fingertips!
