Great video, this ac control valve is something nobody else covers. Everyone else just talks about the ac clutch. I got a harness pigtail from a junkyard car and used a 9v battery to test my ac control valve. In the junkyard the control valve would audibly click when releasing battery voltage. My ac control valve would not click at all. The control valve resistance was measured at 58 ohms where it should be between 2 to 7 ohms. Thanks a lot for this video.
Can I put oil or rust preventative on the the outside of the valve so it won’t rust while in the AC compressor? I seen the RKX ones rust that are sold on amazon reviews and that’s the one I bought.
You can also use a tail light bulb jumpered into the flow control valve harness connector and turn the A/C on and if the bulb lights up then you know that the computer is controlling the circuit
I’m looking into running a 12V compressor in parallel with this style of compressor to run while the vehicle is off. Would any backflow from that processor cause an issue with this style of compressor? Any thoughts on this setup? I’d like to install check valves at each discharge line but I can’t find anything other than NPT hydraulic style check valves.
I am working a 2020 Rav4 gas engine. I replaced the A/C condenser because it had a hole damaged from rock chip. After vacuuming 45 mins and recharge 1234yf freon with 2 oz of pag oil added, 1/2 can of freon. The low side read 70 psi and high side 80 psi. I just don’t know if the a/c could be the problem.
2011 highlander new compressor expansion valve condenser charged to proper level using a professional robinair machine at idle compressor and fans come on a few seconds then stop. If u rev above 1000 rpm compressor and fans work ac works fine whether driving or sitting
I have impala 2015 LT, its ac starts throwing warm air if car stops on signal for long time. And after 5 mins it again starts cooling down. Also FAN keeps on mpving at high speed, shaks my whole car. Can you suggest something.
So does the little valve inside open a lot or just a little bit? I’ve done this test and I can hear the click and I have 3 control valves two brand new and one used off the old compressor. None of them allow air to come out of the ballon and I can see the little valve inside but it doesn’t move a lot.
So disconnecting the wires should stop the gas flow from closing up, right? and allow gas to flow to allow compression right? My standing pressure is 120 psi. Compressor clutch works and compressor seems to try to do its job. But low side drops by a few psi and vibrates very noticeably but sometimes not. . High side stays at 120 and vibrates sonetimes but not as much. Im thinking blockage rather than bad compressor. Perhaps control valve? What do you think?
@@TheTurbomopar Yes. My clutch clicked forward but rusted out in centre at centre bolt so it was not actually turning the compressor. Replaced clutch parts. All good now. Cost was about $125 us. Im in thailand.
Thanks for all your videos. I have a problem with the AC on a 2005 BMW E87 116i. It didn’t work, so I got it serviced and refilled. It blew out the AC gas and the garage told me I have leak in the high pressure line. I changed it, not a funny job to do. Car was then serviced at BMW and I told them to do the AC as well. It worked for a few KM, then blew the AC gas again. BMW checked the system, and told me I need a new compressor. Cost 2000 € + for the complete job. Not going to happen. As the high pressure line was changed, the high pressure switch is new. So I bought a AC compressor solenoid switch, which you know, BMW does not sell or change. My question is this, is it possible to change the compressor switch while the compressor is in the car? Or do I need to take it out to do this job?
@@armandobroncas9147 That was sort of my question. Is it possible to access and change the valve with the compressor in the car. Do it from the top or from under the car.
3:06 “what’s important is to not touch the two wires together because you’ll burn it immediately” Can you help me understand this comment? Do you just mean not touching the battery wires together? Or do you mean the terminals on the solenoid itself? If the solenoid, how does touching the wires together damage it?
In the end it was another part of my compressor that was faulty so had to get the whole thing replaced so not sure if the solenoid was a problem or not, sorry

Can a new compressor have a faulty valve?

I looked everywhere to understand the role and testing of an ac compressor valve. You added several key parts to my understanding. Thank you!
Same here
Thank you! And Happy Father’s Day 2024.
You guys are amazing. Thanks!
Great video, thanks, I needed that 👍
Superb video. Thank you so much!
Thank you very much great job

How can I tell if my BMW AC compressor control valve has a diode? thanks! Great video as always so helpful!!!!

Can i make the compressor work without connecting the control valve? m57 on landrover
My Chevy Cruze AC works sometimes, and then it turns off, do you think it is the solenoid? -40F appears on my radio sometimes
Hi ...Actually in my 2010 Sentra 2 litre the fans are working , but the Compressor does not engage. Do you think it is the AC compressor valve.
Браво.Може ли да се тества докато е на компресора?
How does the bad one sound? Can get a quick video reply ?
Hi please can I replace this valve on 2004 X5 without disassemble the enteir compressor from the car?

What is the resistance reading across the 2 terminals. I'd like to test it before I pull it
We measured 12 Ohms and it was bad on a 2015 Nissan Stanza. Good one measured 24ohns
does removing this part allows the freon to be release in the air? does this require a full freon recharging?
Yes
OMG you made it so fucking easy to understand.
Hi can this valve be cleaned using carb spray, amsoil foam spray and wd 40?
No

Valve modulates. To control pressure
@@2nickles647 so I ended up just replacing the compressor

Compressor can still be on the car, as long as you can reach and able to work on it. Although freon must be discharged first

2019 hyundai kona ,ac clutch kicks on for a few seconds but solenoid valve doesn't activate ,is it that the climate control is bad ,?
👍👍👍👍👍
My corolla clutchless ac blows warm air at idle but above 1500rpm it blows cold air. Does it shows bad solinoid
Could be low idle , low on refrigerant or the compressor is not pumping efficiently.
Could this cause my ac to sometimes blow cold air and then sometimes blow hot air ? . When it works it kicks it out when I turn down the ac speed ?
check your thermistor inside the car.
Can the ECV be taken off with the system pressurized?
No
No
Can you take this solenoid out without evacuating the refrigerant?
No

Do not touching the battery wires together.
Mine works the opposite way. Without power no air escapes, but then I add power and air does escape?
Chevy equinox with this test is doing the same as you said. Backwards. Now not sure if this is the problem or if it’s normal…. What was your solution?
