I agree with you guys, Colman going lead really damaged Glenn Close’s campaign. Colman will eat into Close’s critics awards and we know Colman has got the BAFTA in the bag. So if Gaga wins GG, Close better hope she wins SAG otherwise her chances are not looking great. That split between Colman and Close could also make way for Gaga. SAG will be the most interesting precursor for sure. We have star power (gaga), oscar winner pedigree (kidman, davis) and underrated/overdue actors ( close, colman , mccarthy ). I think SAG will determine who walks away with the oscar.
I have yet to see The Wife but I saw The Favourite and she is definitely a front runner
@anthonyok We haven't seen Vice yet but if Amy Adam's delivers one of the best performances of the year she'll be nominated again although next year she'll win an Emmy for her amazing role in Sharp Objects. I could see an honorary go to Glenn Close and if she wins for the Wife they may treat it like that.
Bradley worked his ass off, voice lessons 18 months, Lukas Nelson (Willie's son) taught him guitar, Willie and Kristoferson let them film their concerts, because on a $40 million is not alot. They wouldn't be able to pay (700,000) extras...The music is wonderful. BUT I want Viggo to win best supporting actor

Roma, from Cuarón, is a máster piece! Even though is a foreign film (Mexican) it should win best picture and also best director
Agree, it should but lets be honest, the academy are not going to award a foreign film for best picture.
Honestly would not underestimate that possibility. This could be the year. A Star is born has a lot of people saying it’s just good. Whereas Roma has every pretentious Oscar voter raving. Plus, it has the political factor that A Star is Born seriously lacks. I think that’s why Moonlight beat La La Land, which by the way, was also a movie no one would imagine winning but look what happened.

Very surprised at no mention of First Man as probable BP nominee. I don't think it will win, but it's nomination seems inevitable to me, as Damien Chazelle getting best director nom as well.
A dull film with an actor giving an intense performance as an extremely dull character. Not a chance.

The films they mention are the ones they think could win, for the moment First Man has lost momentum thanks to the bad box office and apparently no one thinks could win.

No mention of Willem Dafoe for At Eternitys Gate? That's arguably the best performance of his career.
The problem of Dafoe is that his film is a small one, "At Eternity's Gate" will not have the reflects of other films like "A Star is Born" or "Green Book".
@@gule55 Well The Wife is a small film too and Glenn Close will most likely be nominated. The Oscars are known for nominated some big films but also a lot of smaller indies.
Of course Green Book is getting added. It's not Avatar. It won't be showing everywhere.

Original Song should go to A Star is Born and Costume/Production Design possibly Black Panther, but I could see The Favourite winning both as well
I seriously doubt Bradley Cooper is gonna leave this race empty-handed. I’m predicting him for best actor, Colman for actress, Sam Elliot for supporting (mainly because Mahershala won 2 years ago in this very category and voters tend to spread the love), and Regina King for supporting actress. Lady Gaga gets her Oscar in the best original song category with Shallows.
Colman in the lead actress category is a joke. Stone and Weisz deserve to be in lead actress contention. But that’s Hollywood politics for you. What a shame. Fox Searchlight wants to spend their Oscar campaign money to promote only one actress and they chose Colman because she is the IT British actress right now especially with her getting the Queen role on Netflix.
Mexcars are turning into joke. Give some oscars to asians.
Stop being a hater, just because the academy awarded mexicans frecuently in the last five years in one category (directing), do not mean the oscars are mexicans.
