How does waterjet work? - Construction and principle of operation

  • hello in this episode i will introduce you to the construction and principle of operation of hydro-jet machines.
    The construction of different manufacturers may differ a bit, but the principle of operation is the same
    I will explain it to you on the example of the Omax machine
    The waterjet consists of three fundamental elements.
    High pressure pump
    Processing table
    cutting head
    First, let's take a look at what components the machine consists of:
    high pressure pump (regarding the construction of pumps and principles of operation, I refer you to one of our videos where we show what are the solutions on the market)
    x axis
    y axis
    z axis
    garnet filled container
    catch tank
    cutting nozzle
    high pressure system fittings (in this case mounted on a scissor system which allows the machine to be placed in low rooms).
    processing table on which a lattice or chamfer can be noted
    control controller
    for the machine to work, we must provide 3 basic media:
    water which carries the abrasive (water itself, when it is under high pressure, can cut through various materials)
    abrasive thanks to which you can cut hard materials
    electricity to start and control the machine
    in some cases air to control valves or the air cushion of the water table
    And how is mains water able to cut through everything?
    it is a very simple way:
    The water goes to the pump which is able to pressurize the water to over 4000 bar and then goes to the cutting head through high pressure pipes. There is an orifice that contains the gemstone Diamond sapphire or ruby ​​and at this point, by narrowing the through hole, the water is accelerated to a speed of 3 mach, then behind the orifice in the mixing chamber, the abrasive is sucked in through the generated vacuum, which in the final stage flows out together with the water in a compact stream through the mixing tube
    The key element in the correct operation of the machine is water quality and certain requirements imposed by the manufacturer must be met, which are:
    water temperature between 7 and 21C
    The amount of micronutrients where the total contamination of the soluble elements cannot exceed 250 ppm (about water and treatment plants, see one of our videos where Rafał explains everything and conducts a test)
    The machine can be equipped with additional devices such as an abrasive feeder, water treatment stations, an abrasive removal system and a closed water circulation system that help to optimize the work.
    The machine itself can be equipped with additional accessories such as a rotary axis, a drilling rig, an optical locator, an angle head and much more.
    The Waterjet machine is the only technology that is able to precisely and repeatably cut any material, e.g. glass, stone, all types of metals, plastics, wood, regardless of thickness

      Technologia waterjet coraz bardziej się popularyzuje. A może coś używanego? Od czasu do czasu mamy w ofercie :D
