- In this video I show you how I make ditches from duct tape and yacht varnish. It's a typical Dutch view: a railway track passing flat meadows. You can turn on the subtitles to see my explanation and tips.

I love the "untidy" look. The multitude of grasses and the impression that it's real nature, not a carefully groomed model railway. Respect!
Realism to the core..Excellent work.Greetings from India
Nice to see a Dutch channel for a change / Wat leuk om een Nederlands kanaal te zien voor de verandering
Tichy makes some nice stuff
Boomer!!! Cheers!!
I love creative people, this is amazing.
That is crazy realistic.
That's great, it's just as dirty and murky as real water is now. Astounding realism
The paintbrush trick is genus.
You sir, are an artist! Totally enjoyable viewing AND very useful. Thank you for posting.
An excellent video. Hello from the Tracy Mountain Railway in Colorado. ♡ T.E.N.
Wow, just perfect. I want to see more of this
Looks gorgeous, I am planning a small creek flowing into a large river on my module, and is a good inspiration to built it!
I have worked on the railway for 20 years and this diorama could be a number of places I have walked past a thousand times and it is all but picture perfect, well done sir and I must commend you on a fantastic skill set you have.
I hope you have good memories of that 20 years. Thank you for your kind message!
Very nice Job, a good idea with the Yachtlack 👍
greetings from germany
Un Lavoro pazzesco! !!...bellissimo ...complimenti! !!
I would love to see someone do this kind of detail on old tracks that are less used and almost abandoned, but slightly warp the tracks so the cars jostle around like they do in real life. I don't think I've ever seen that before.
Absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for a great technique!
Really enjoyed this video, thanks.
[thank, you for you're great video]👍
Lovely and so effective!
Wow, that’s amazing
Unbelievable work great sir
Outstanding work, thank you ( dank u ) for sharing. That video will inspires me when modelling the scenery on my belgian vicinal steam tramway micro-layout.
Always nice to hear that a video inspires others. Good luck with your micro-layout!
Great video. Thanks for posting this. Have a nice day.
INCREDIBLE!!!!!
sieht wirklich SUPER aus
Top idee! Ga ik gebruiken in mijn kerstdorp :-)
Wow learned something new, would never have thought to use tape like this. Tip for the varnish, use a large syringe instead of the stick to apply the varnish. Can be a little neater and not have to worry about it dripping where you don't want it to. Might even be easier. I build RC airplanes with dope and fabric covering, and mixing dope can be a pain, the syringe makes things so much easier for measuring small amounts and transferring to a mixing cup. I also use a smaller one for applying glue to parts. They come in real handy. I use the needleless ones that are used for injecting into IV's and such.
Very good, thank you.
Mooi! Lukt dit ook voor grotere wateroppervlaktes?
Geweldig idee man!!
Wow, wow , wow!
Super gaaf gedaan, een 10
Beautiful 😉😊.
Really good video. I love this one and your realistic ballast and realistic bushes videos. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for your nice comment! I hope to upload new videos within a few weeks
@@spoorinmodel OK, that sounds good. It appears that there is long time intervals between you uploads. I am looking forward to see what you are working on!
@@mr.e1944 That's true unfortunately, the videos are very time consuming to make. And because it's just my hobby I have to do it in spare time. The new project already takes 7 weeks, but it's almost finished. Thanks for the support!
@@spoorinmodel I am sure it is a lot of work and time. I have never made a video myself. I don’t know how to do it even with any success!
Very nice. What is the white shaker you were using and it's purpose?
It's a good method with great results. Only one snag: the smell of the varnish while curing is terrible. I made a wharf scene with a good ¾m x ¾m of varnish 'water' and couldn't work in the layout room for over a week. I used International Compass polyurethane yacht varnish, perhaps the smell depends on the brand ?
very nice!
Wow
Just the technique I was looking for to create a small waterway on my layout. How wide have you made the waterway?
Great video. How would you make the water look a blue colour?
U kunt heel goed modelbaan items maken 😱
its cool
I would call that my friend a genius cause there's no way I could do that even if I had everything I needed to do it I have a Christians village and have a light house a waterfall and a boathouse and have been trying for years to make something that looks like water so my hat is off to you awesome work
Very kind, thank you! I think that everyone can make this, it just takes (sometimes a lot of) practice. Please keep trying if you still like doing it!
Also have a look at the channel of Luke Towan, he has several water & waterfall diorama's
what is the green powder you spread over your static gras?
Thanks a lot for this tutorial ! What kind of varnish did you used, please ?
ask Polyester, commonly used in photos placed for glossy frames
I'm a huge fan of the spoorinmodel.nl tutorials but i like to add one small comment.
The paint used in this tutorial takes a long time to dry. Therefore i like to use epoxy wich i colour with pigments. The drying time is only a few hours and the surface is easier to regulate when deeper areas have to be filled.
Just my two cents ;)
Nice! New sub. See ya next time.
Where do we find cars and rails used in it ? In UAE or India any idea or link so we can buy
a great demo and great skills, regards Paul at Sandling Junction
Super zeg
YEY MEHANO!
kan het ook met bootlak?
Are you not affraid that at long term the duck tape will unglue from the support?
I applied this method to one of my earlier model layouts and that remained good for years (until I broke down the layout). The tape is also covered with a layer of wood glue on the sides, so I think it stays where it belongs.
The madow is missing a black and white cow, grazing the grass
Black and white cow at 0:06
Which static applicator are you using?
The RTS Greenkeeper 35kV.
How long did you leave the varnish to dry?
About 5 days. Then I applied the second layer and also let it dry for 5 days.
@@spoorinmodel is the varnish water based or oil?
4:03 - Is that a tire in that ditch??
yes
Amazing.
Wat is die pot lijm of verf
Did .............. Em !
Makes me look like a idiot compared with my idea’s
Ps : as a canceled.
Tip don't use a brush
Use a bottle-washer
Amazing!!!!
