To people criticizing the clean vocals or how much of a "pop" sound this has, if a progressive metal band can write a such a catchy song with odd time signatures, polymeters, key changes, and dynamics, while convincing you that they have gone mainstream or "sold out," then they have succeeded beyond measure.

While studying Accounting, I came across the word "peripheral" in a definition so I googled it. The definition had the word "periphery" in it. I thought "That's a strange word" so then I googled periphery...and here I am. I guess I'll thank stupid accounting for helping me discover this cool band.

Even though i generally enjoy clean vocals in metal (Opeth, Amorphis, Katatonia...), i simply can't stand this kind of ''post hardcore'' vocal style. The singer is obviously highly skilled, but it's my subjective opinion on the matter, nothing pretentious about it.
Paying attention to the lyrics, this song has a lot of meaning. Many of us, at least I myself at times, live my life feeling perpetually inadequate. A thought always persists in my head - "There's something in you that's missing, something makes you inferior". It's difficult to address your thoughts, process them and ascertain what it is that you want. Occasionally, what you want proves to be superficial that is related to an unresolved past insecurities. This song talks exactly about that. We're always bleeding on the inside due to the chatter in our minds. However, it may so happen that our reflections help us become the greatest version of ourselves - "What little time we have left to grow, separate mind from me, but I've got no adamant will to leave". You have to separate your ego from your authentic self and let yourself grow. Gosh, this life is a mystery and experience to be lived..... :)

I also find it interesting how Periphery manages to tell multiple stories with only one release.
The way i see it, the first is the story of the Juggernaut protagonist, the member of a vile sect, who struggles to escape from where he is now in life. In that way, it kind of speaks about not letting his past and his limited choices stand in the way of inner liberation and being able to appreciate life. The second is that the song can be detached from the Juggernaut universe and stand alone with the message that we always want more and yearn to know "what could've been if", which in turn destroys us and kills even the opportunities that we do have. These two layers kind of resonate. Then the third meaning is the one introduced with he music video, which is very ambivalent: on one hand, it too is about making peace with the past, but on the other, it does so via changing the past, exploring the alternative outcomes.
This is so beautiful, i wonder if these six guys realize what greatness they created.
The song is actually about a guy who was born into a cult, he gets morality one day and wants to leave desperately hence "it's always better on the other side of it".

Time signature change in the middle of chorus is quite bold and I like it.
Remember that timeless feeling that some music has? That feeling that the hooks and the notes are immortalized and do not belong to a specific era and will last forever? Periphery is so damn good at writing music that they have achieved that for me. They are the only band with hardcore vocals who have achieved that to this degree. There is just something really special about periphery's music.

This album and song in particular is starting to grow on me. I wasn't a huge fan but a few songs off the new album (I haven't heard Omega yet) but after reading the story and the lyrics I really admire the new direction Periphery went. They are maturing not only lyrically but musically.

But seriously, at the beginning of the scarlet video, you see the main dude in this chilling on the mustard spaceship, and it's never explained. I mean, all of their CG music videos (make total destroy, scarlet, alpha, maybe even jetpacks) are connecting into a strange, separate world from what the lyrics mean, or the concept of juggernaut, and I think that it's hilariously cool.

I'm so glad that I came across this band. What I absolutely like in it, not only they have great lyrics, but also from melodic prospective they songs are not repetitive and are very amusing to listen to. Top 1 band to listen while doing calculus or other mathematical stuff!
When the instruments come in suddenly at the beginning, I have this weird air-drumming seizure that I find very difficult to control. It's just such a powerful, epic start to an amazing song. Alpha will forever be in the top 10 list of my all time favorite songs.
I really enjoyed this song I have no idea why so many strange people think it's odd. Periphery can make songs heavy as saggy scrotums, AND tunes that make you feel fabulous. I enjoy it all

This is a masterpiece. You don’t have to enjoy it but anyone who says otherwise is probably not a musically inclined person. I’ve spent years and years writing and I couldn’t come close to this level of complexity. And the video: really makes you think.
It's not often you see a progressive metal/djent-core whatever band put out a good music video (unless it consists of a boy being chased by a girl through a forest - which has been done a million times). This video has the feels and a good message, I really liked it.

It could actually be, a lot of this looked to be about mind control and attempting to break free from it. Repeating traumatic scenes of life also seems like it's a form of torture as well. I could be wrong though.

They wanted to be subtle with the messages. On a closer expetion of juggernaut you could see some of the messages they are trying to parallel here. Being a product of society, conforming. As well as never having a mind of your own. The main character of juggernaut is reborn into a new world with a clean start like the ending of this video. Just depends on what you get from it.
I live for Spencers cleans. If any of you fuckers dont like his cleans, dont fucking listen to the band. Don't try and change something just because it doesn't fit your desires. These past few months its been nothing but Periphery i listen to at least 1 album from them every day and i never find myself wanting to skip a single song ever, this album Juggernaut is so masterfully done i cant even, each song makes sense when it comes to the story, it is dark but it will pay off in the end. I have all of their records irl besides the clear lp and i don't really buy albums anymore which is sad but i always have to pick these guys, they can do no wrong
