I have heard of people using smaller scale minis and still using the Sludge ruleset so I think it's definitely doable.

Good Question! They are definitely a kit-bash. I think the horses are Games Workshop fantasy battle horses from a long time ago. I am not sure what the rest of the models are. I think probably some sort of historicals.
