    Went to college down the Cape and have vacationed in Brewster every summer for the last 30+ years - definitely a soft spot for it. It does take a special kind of person to live there full time!

    I've seen 71winters o n the Cape. It SUCKS! I live right at the beach in Cotuit. I now go to the Philippines for Jan & Feb. When I see ice in the ocean, I know I've stayed too long! I do a B & B here during nicer weather. Welfleet? I use to fly my hang glider at Whitecrest Beach, mid 70's to mid 80's. Beginning with Thanksgiving though Easter, the skies are gray, the houses are gray, the trees are gray. VERY depressing!

    Hey Tyler! 🎉🎊 Happy New Year to you and Matt. That was a fun video! Yes, Wellfleet Is quiet in the winter! Hyannis ? Not so much! Those were lovely shots of the beach. That’s the best part about being on the Cape in the winter. It would have to be the beaches even though you can’t enjoy swimming. Like you said, you can enjoy the natural beauty of sunrise to sunset over a body of water. I haven’t been out for a whole winter but even the short time so far I have seen closures of different types of eateries and stores, which is weird to me, because coming from Long Island, the only things that closed in the winter was some stores and eateries in Montauk Only! 90% of the island was 100% functional but not on Cape Cod. It’s small, quaint and has many many fewer residents. The thing that I think was most shocking to me since buying a place on the Cape was that there’s no good transit system from the east going onto the mainland! You Massachusetts people did a great job of creating a bus and train system that brings everybody to Boston from the north, west, and south. Out on the Cape? It’s very expensive and very long and tedious to go from the Cape into the Boston area. So if you work, you have to really stay on Cape Cod, because you’d have to bring your own car in to work in the Boston proper. It’s like all the people on Cape Cod are retirees and tourists! That was a little disheartening. Well, thank you Tyler, keep up your Cape Cod videos because I like learning all things about the Cape.

      Maria, you are absolutely right. The lack of public transportation and connectivity to other places in MA can make the cape feel very isolated at times.
      So I have a confession: I have never visited Hyannis except for the mall...I usually bypass that town because of the tourism. Maybe it's time I explore.

      @@livinginmassachusetts25 the mall is great that’s true because it makes me feel like I’m on the mainland. There are some great seafood restaurants on the water that are open even this time of year. I went out to Hyannis last summer and had to wait for an hour for a table at a delicious seafood restaurant. it had a great view but, it was nighttime and dark by the time we got in. Now is the right time to go by the waterfront to get some good food and enjoy the sites. They have a delicious pastry shop that sells all things French called Chez, Antoine. The restaurants are open later over there rather than in some of the smaller towns and I love Bobby Byrnes and Jersey Mike’s. For me? It’s a 15 minute drive from where the house is, but I love and miss city life, having lived half my life in the Bronx and then moved to Long Island, this is a Big plus to have stores and restaurants and they can actually compete with each other on the same block. That’s just my opinion because I don’t like rural life. Even Amherst has a ton of places to eat and shop. And they’re open year round LOL!
      Thanks Tyler it’s nice to see your Point of View too.

      @@livinginmassachusetts25 The thing is if you are going to make a video about what the Cape is like in the winter and you don't include Hyannis or any of the other towns were locals actually live you are reaching a conclusion that isn't entirely accurate. People live here year round. There are places to go and things to do.

      You're not wrong. We didn't have time to stop everywhere on the cape. We are personally located on the outer Cape. That being said...you know that population in every spot is down significantly without the tourism
      You raise a fair point however.

      @@livinginmassachusetts25 Don't tell anyone but some of us like the Cape far better when the tourists are not here. Cape Cod in the winter is stunningly beautiful and you don't have to fight for parking or wait in line for an hour to eat.

    Winters are rough on the Cape, but that’s why they invented Florida.

    We rented a number of vacation homes on the cape over the years and sadly fell victim twice to dishonest home owners not returning our security deposit saying that we left the house dirty which was a complete lie. Watch out renters. I have heard about this rip-off stunt from other vacationers..

    • @livinginmassachusetts25
      @livinginmassachusetts25  Před rokem +1

      Hey no worries at all, your English is good! The weather can get very cold on the cape because of the coastal wind etc.
      Snowfall totals can be MASSIVE for some storms, but a lot of times, the Cape can be a little lighter, it all depends.
