You don’t choose Christine… Christine chooses you…
Sadly she chooses u lol
"Driver don't pick the car, the car pick the driver"
That's my brother's wife's name. Yeah, he's f-kd too. Lmao
The car chooses the owner, Mr Potter.
In other words, she's a cat.
I like how the door is open. Like an invitation.
Yes. I just noticed that. How inviting indeed.
I could put this movie on repeat and watch it everyday!! Never gets old

Have read and re-read this one so many times. Love it.
Really 🥱

KICK ROCKS!!
It's just fair.
Arnie is so sweet and innocent in this scene. It's like he suddenly spots a ragdoll girl. And despite her tattered clothes and unkept hair, he realizes in an instant that she's the girl of his dreams.
As I read your comment, Rag Doll, by Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, fired up in my head. 🤣👍
I'm nearly 60 and have never seen this movie!
That's how I met the monster truck of my dreams. it was messed up and angry sounding but I fixed everything and now I could just hug and kiss it every day
I purchased a ragdoll van from an auction. I showered her with love and affection....she returns the favor by breaking down on me in a highway. I guess I should thank her for having enough in the tank to get to the shoulder.
After that experience I went to a dealership and purchased a vehicle.
“Whatever it is, it’s not enough” - negotiation 101
@kas8131. Arnie would be a car salesman 's dream customer.
The scene in the movie when he brings Christine to the HS football game is great. The car looks incredible!
I liked it when he first brought it to Darnell's garage, "Shut it off, shut if off.......[bleepin'] shut it off."
Every scene looks great, not a single bad shot in this movie.
That's because the boy had good hands. Good hands.
When lebay saw the look in arnies eyes... it was the same look his brother had. Its like "here we go again"
It’s like she called to him and chose him as he was passing by !!
She did !!!
I thought that too.
cause she was.
She's bad to the bone
@@Bubbles99718 beh-beh-beh-beh-bayahd?
Christine knew EXACTLY what she was doing.
The old man was perfect in this role.
He is also the neighbour of Kevin McCallister. Mr Marley
He was also in Flashpoint.
He was. Good character actor. His dialogue was great in this scene.
Old man marley in christine
@@brownandwhitebull4262 it’s funny how he doesn’t look that much older like 8 years later in 1991 or whatever When the first home alone came out
I mean the exchanges in this scene are just pure gold.
I fricken love this movie, underrated gem
Oh?
It's rated pretty highly by just about everybody. A classic
I have seen this film so many times, I could recite it from start to finish without getting a word wrong. It just never ages.
😂 I just did that with Robert Blossom’s character. I haven’t seen the movie in it’s entirety in several years.
Me too 😂😂
The soundtrack and score are just as vital to this movie making sense - perfection.
It's the combination of the perfect score plus perfect casting that makes it a masterpiece.
When you hear the plot it sounds wack, but when you watch the movie it’s a masterpiece
I have an infatuation with 1958 so probably not cool for my psyche
The books even better
Absolutely correct. I put off watching Christine for thirty two years because "Eh, it's an evil car? Sounds stupid. Next." Then I was in the middle of a John Carpenter retrospective and I was blown away when I got to it. Fantastic film.
Same with the book.
The book was great. And this would have been better if they didn't do heavy editing that made the plotline skip quite a bit. Like Arnie just suddenly showing up with a perfect car and a perfect girl that his pal tried to ask out.
We need a prequel w the brother Roland first buying Christine. That'd be sweet. Would be interesting to see how the brothers life unfolded w the car in his life. I'm assuming from the age of the other brother, Roland lived to see his older years...unlike Arny.
The book tells alot more then the movie!
@@exxxz1999 valid point. How about cgi destruction only?
There's plenty of back story in the book. Not every movie character needs a movie about where they came from or why they turned out like they did. Just leave the story alone and enjoy it for what it is.
Scary to think that if Christine were to come out today (2022), to hearken back 25 years, Arnie would have been driving a 1997 Chrysler Cirrus, and the song on the radio would have been MMMMMBop! by Hanson.
*shudder!!!*
That really does sound like a trip through hell 😂
That's a scary movie.
Yeah, but she still wouda been an antique!
@@Bubbles99718 don't you mean vintage 😆
@@jacobmassey3897 Said antique in the clip. So yep, he's the dork, not me. :)
You can almost smell that musty smell of past it’s prime rotted interior trim. So well done
Keith Gordon was cast perfectly for this roll. Especially the scene where him and Dennis are cruising down the road in Christine… Arnie says…” NOW YOU WATCH THIS!!!….”
I LOVE this old fella's generation, they've seen some hard, real hard times. Straight forward, corny, humorous and sarcastic. No sugar-coating, a day is a day and a night is a night! These were the real men back in the days!
I sure dont
That generation had it better than the ones after it. Being born in the 30s meant they were too young to remember the Great Depression, too young to deal with WW2, grew up in the post WW2 economic boom, fought and easily won in the Korean war and weren't hated for it. And had access to many many good paying union manufacturing jobs with good pay and pension plans.
@@neoasurablame the globalist governments for our current predicament.
And today's generation watching TV-Shows where guys like Arnie restore these classic beauties!
This is and will forever be my favorite movie over everything I could think of... Everything else comes second....
Having bought myself a 2nd hand (or 3rd, 4th, maybe 5th or 6th hand even) 1958 Edsel myself, lemme tell you, the spookiest thing about Christine in this scene is how fast she starts. And that she starts at ALL.
she purrs like a cat when started because she knows arnie loves her
She'll start...
Why would you do that? An Edsel was one of the ugliest cars ever made.
@@fframer1 58 edsel maybe, but not christine

My friends said this reminds them of me. I got my license in 1981 and my grandfather died 2 weeks before my birthday. He left me his 65 Cadillac...what a car. I named him Copeticus, the Concrete cruiser. We went through hell and back. What a car. Miss it every day.

She was a 58 all new cars for the next year was made in the current. Plus if she was a 57 she would been built in 56.
where's GERMANY when you need them?
Stephen King is a literary genius. I remember getting goose bumps reading this part.
One of the best car movies
2:36 I always thought that was a test from the old guy,Christine wasn't actually able to start, but she would for someone like Arnie.
That's a good idea
yea, my thougt as well, that's why the old guy refuses to say a price. No point selling christine if she doesn't want them. The wrong owner probably couldn't have started her.
Correct. christine had felt the love, and acted upon it.
I saw this movie when it came out in 1983-1984, and that point didn’t even cross my mind.
From that day on: Arnie’s life changed dramatically
A car called Christine. A name of no insanefiance. But a car of loyalty. She needs the love
I disagree that is the name of an insane fiance, ask me how I know.
That old man was a great little performance.
In a way he was the real villain in this flick
same old man from Home Alone lol.
He was in a number of movies including Heat of the Night, Close Encounters, Last Temptation of Christ.
He should be playing his dead brother spirit, who actually does all the things happen. IDK why this character was supressed from the script.
When Dennis kicked Christine you can see a dog way back in the field. Looks like a St Bernard "CUJO" in the grass field in the back. Over 30 years watching this movie and just noticed that.
His movies and books are full of that stuff. I love it.
I love this part of the movie it takes me back when I got cars out of junk yards and fixed them up to be really nice cars
Same! Those were the days!
We all did back in the day.
Still doing it. Driving a 65 Chevy II wagon pulled out of a barn 2 years ago. Nice car.

I always come back to this i just love that score when he first encounters the car so creepy
what a great scene....fine acting...loved this movie..
2:46 Christine's engine sounds like a beating heart (or even a cat's purr) when Arnie first starts her up. Could show how happy she was that Arnie wanted her.
Who misses that first car we all had?
1987 Chevy Sprint Turbo, I miss her dearly.
My 1st car was a 1980 Toyota Tercel. Senior year in HS, '86.
Worlds of difference between that and Christine but yep, I loved that 5 speed little hatchback scooter
I'm in the process of giving my first car away to the appropriate car club, it's a 1959 Ford that I got when I was 18 years of age - ALMOST 53 years ago. It still hurts.
@@david.m.304 That's awesome you were able to keep it that long though.
My first got got totalled but I still have my second car after 38 years... It's a joy to drive, like an old glove. Analog all the way.

My favorite Stephen King story/film. Fantastic!
Even though this classic, fantastic, film is 40 years old this year (2023) it’s still one of my all time watchable films everytime. I can’t say for definite how many times but it’s in the thousands.. it never gets old and never will. Just a pity they didn’t do a sequel to the film back in the mid 80’s.
A lot of 80's movies were One-Hit Wonders and should've been left alone as far as a sequel. There were some terrible sequels in the 80's. There's a rumor Hollywood's doing a remake.😝😝
Ugh. I miss the days when you could have bought a "decent" car for only 250 bucks!!!!! Much less a possessed one by the devil!
Christine wasn't possessed, the car just grew a sentience, and every person she killed was someone that treated her wrong, or beat her up
@@samuelhaverghast2442 so very true I agree treat a car with love n kindness n the car will be loyal to it's owner 😁🤩✅👍
My fav scene is when Christine gets destroyed by the bulldozer in the final ending but still refuses to die but eventually the dozer wins 😁👍😃
I bought a 2002 Honda civic for $500 a couple years ago. Aside from oil changes and gas, haven't spent anymore and she runs killer. I will drive it until it won't go anymore. Still some deals out there.
My first car was a 1970 Plymouth that cost $375 in 1986.
Of course I was only making $3.35 an hour at Burger King ...
Every man alive has fell in love with his own, Christine!’…. 🦉

Hey Christine, if you put your mind to it you can accomplish anything. Remember...your a Mellon!
First watched this when I was 12, back in 1987. Was fascinated with the story. Always had a bonding relationship with the cars I've owned. So mutch so that I still have the first car I drove, and the second, come to think of it , out of 15 cars, I've only sold 1. Mind you some of them I bought as donors to keep the others going. Most of them I will rebuild. The difference between my cars and Christine, mine aren't evil.
You can't just say you have that many cars without elaborating. I was born in '87 and only have 6 (5 running) so far. What all do you have?

You can buy a decent car for that money Arnie!! Not even in 1982 was that true.

The vehicles, at least, never fall out of love with you xd.
Still a good romance movie in my opinion. It’s just a shame that girl and his friend were so jealous of his car that truly loved him.
Wasn't the fact they were jealous it was more that they saw what the car was doing to Arnie
That 68 Charger the jock drove was the nicest car in the whole movie.

Great movie. John Carpenter’s classic. Love this idea about the car.
He came out with a movie similar to this one called Trucks.
You realize "the car" wasn't John Carpenter's idea right?
The old man is roberts blossom from the movie home alone. He plays old man marley.
I literally just found that out when I looked up the actors in this movie. I was shocked.

You said it!!!. No-one chooses to get completely "hung up" on on something or somebody. The world 🌎 just ends and you're a different person❤️
Always wondered about the timeline. If the Lebay guy (former owner) died only 6 weeks prior, how did Christine get into such disrepair like that? Unless they 'parted ways' for years before his death, but that doesnt line up with what various characters said. I know its a Steven King deal and he lacks a lot of consistency and common sense, so thats where I end up at.
In the wiki it says she was paid for the day Lebay picker her up. He owned her for 21 Years. Explaining how she got in such bad shape. I think they changed the timline a bit for sake of the screen Play and movie script.
This movie ages like fine wine! Arnie's true love for Christene... "whatever you're asking, it's not enough!"
Arnie is the biggest dork and turns into a psycho killer. Great movie, classic!

Given her Wolverine-like healing power, she really let herself go until Arnie came along.
He couldn't afford to buy the car if it looked to be in decent condition.
@@spaceflight1019 No, it was to see if someone really was interested. Remember, you could "buy a really decent car" for what Arnie paid for Christine.
@@twoeightythreez In 1975 I bought a used 1971 Fury police interceptor in Columbus, Ohio for the princely sum of $600. It had a U-code 375 horse 440 Magnum. It was in way better shape than the Christine car. But...
If Arnie had, behind the scenes, done his homework and learned that the Fury only came in gold and white, meaning that it had been repainted, and that it had its original, numbers-matching drivetrain including the dual-quad hi-performance 318, or the Golden Commando 350, then $500 was a screaming deal...assuming that the frame wasn't rotted through.
@@spaceflight1019 It was special ordered red, you could do that way back then.
@@robertmorris8997 Interesting. Since everything I can find about the Fury indicates that the white and gold paint scheme was standard a special order could make the car a one of one.
The alternate ending has Arnie making bank after the car pulls six figures at an auction...
I had forgotten what a great movie this is.
I am certain that when I saw Christine at the Cinema, there was a scence when Arnie looked in the mirror and there were two skeketons in the rear view mirror, I have now bought two copies of the movie, one of them a directors cut, but they don't have that scence in them!
Are you sure
Im still amazed by Keith Gordon's transformation from dweeb to stud in the movie, you really don't realize the changes until you remember how the character started. Good acting to be able to slowly reshape the character throughout the movie
"How much do you want for her? I mean whatever it is, it's not enough." Great negotiating tactics.
