imagine if you just do this occasionally as a way to support the library and give yourself a fun lil treasure hunt 😂
hahaha wait that's so fun
Haha, this would be perfect for books you're not sure if you want to keep anymore or not. If they're ✨ meant to be, ✨ you'll find them at the library book sale.
@@BooksandLalayou should donate 10 TBR books (or whatever books ) and then you have to read the first 5 you find
Liam has grown so much since I’ve first started watching you. It’s crazy.
just the title of this………. oh kayla, i’m scared for you
This is literally the plot of that episode that every sitcom has 😭
I love the reading blurbs to a book you disliked and being like ABSOLUTELY NOT about most of the descriptives used for said book. A very relatable experience, sometimes the blurbs are truly insane and feel like someone did not read the book before blurbing lmaooo
It was so validating to hear a rant bc June has been such a bad reading month for me and I needed to see someone else hating too
I can't believe you found them! I would have walked in, saw all those people and walked back out 😂
I would refuse to only have 10 minutes in that sale 😂 I would need to go through each box meticulously 😂
the video concepts just fall right into your hands at this point 😂
THE EXO LOGO ❤
Omg! My friends live in kelowna, and say I should move out there, and I swear the other day I was thinking 'but if I move I won't be able to go to my mechanic, and it's so hard to find one tou trust that doesn't do things you don't need' and then I watch this!?!? KAYLA! what are the chances you randomly recommend your mechanic!!?!?
Omg it's KISMET ✨💞
I am so unbelievably sure that patterned shirt you've worn a few times was mine. If you got it at a value village, I think it used to be mine!😂
What a crazy video concept, I love it! 😅
I actually saw you at the library book sale on Saturday! It was way too crowded to say hi though lol.
omg wasn't it CRAZY? I can't believe they run it out of that tiny space, I almost walked right back out the door when I saw how tightly packed it was. I'm sad we didn't get to say hello!!
Treasure hunting for your own books - This could be a whole new vlog series - LOL! I so enjoy you!
The Mary Kate and Ashley books! I lived for those growing up!
Go Liam! I once had to buy back a piece of furniture that my mom donated to the thrift store. I found out when I was shopping in the thrift store. Lol!
The best way I found to avoid allergy causing products was to look up the ingredients list of all the products you know have caused a reaction and see if there are common ingredients. Then look at the ingredients for products you don’t have a reaction to and see if they are there as well. If they aren’t in the good products then there is a chance that’s what’s causing it.
I did this for my sister who was having awful rashes/chemical burns and we narrowed it down to a preservative called phenoxyethanol which has become more common after companies stopped using parabens.
After a trip to Hawaii where you have to use "reef safe" sunscreen, in other words, mineral based, I am sold. I don't know why these are not more popular. I like it better and seems to prevent burns better than the chemical based sunscreens. Give it a try!
Unfortunately some people are allergic to mineral sunscreens as well, and the pot she has is a mineral based one. 🙁.
My son was allergic to sunflowers and reacted to sunflower oil in cosmetics, and my daughter is allergic to coconuts and reacts to coconut oil in products- it may be a simple ingredient like this that’s causing the reaction. Both are in many products like lotion, lip balms, shampoo etc (foods too of course so you can cross reference how you do with them in foods). You may also try different types of sunscreen - maybe it’s the chemical kind that bothers you, and the physical kind may work better, or Korean sunscreen have different blockers that work better for some sensitivities. Allergies suck and are confusing 🫤 Good luck ❤
The way I wanted to start crying at the title because my unhauling cannot be stopped and this is my worst nightmare 😂
hi! this is totally random but my brother also had allergies to certain sunscreens, and the only one he wouldn't get a reaction to is any from Banana Boat. the chances you both have the same allergy is small, but on the case that you do, maybe try that brand on a small patch of skin?
I AM SO GLAD YOU LIKED NEVER SAW ME COMING! I read this when it first came out and thought you might like it. I really enjoyed it-agreed the ending let it down a bit, but I just loved the overall vibe and the super subtle humor of the MC.
this might be my favorite vlog you’ve ever done even with the disappointing read
Regarding Allergies: peanutbutter sometimes has shea butter or palm oil added to it, and shea butter is used for skin care as well.
I'm sorry you had to buy a bad book two times, but the vlog is amazing
You in that royal blue top TOOK ME OUT! That color looks so stunning on you Kayla! 🤩🧚🏼♀️
The biggest plot twist in this vlog is a mechanic shop not screwing you over
really excited for you to read the glutton i picked it up at my work (also a local bookstore that people bring their books to to sell) and never got around to reading past 30 pages
Mineral based sunscreen usually causes less reaction for more people. So in the ingredients look for zinc oxide as the active ingredient for the sun protection. Hope you find something you like :)
Liam is really good at baseball!!! 2nd is great! also this video concept is amazing haha
I would have totally made the trip if I knew about this! If you are in Chilliwack August 24th the Rotary has a big used books sale and then another in the fall.
Hi Kayla,
Caudalie VinoSun Protect sunacreen products does not contain oxybenzone, octinoxate and titanium dioxide, all of which could potentially be irritating. Instead they use new gen filters (primarily korean).
Lots of love from Turkey ❤️
I loved this goofy concept
nooo ive accidentally donated my books once and it still haunts me haha, glad you got a book back but it sucks that it didnt end up being a fun read :(
i really recommend going in for an allergy test for the sunscreen, my friend had this issue a few years back and she was able to figure out what caused her flare ups through a test! could it also be a fragrance issue? most sunscreens have fragrance in them which can cause bad reactions as well, would switching to something without any possibly help? the cetaphil you pointed out has no added fragrance (i think?) which is why it might not bug your skin :)
edit: a good way to test skincare before buying it is doing a little patch test on a small section on your arm!
I love the Dear, Klairs - All-day Airy Sunscreen, as someone with really sensitive skin, its a dream. Great Vlog as always!
This is a so much better video than the original! Have actually done this so fun to know I am not the only one.
My mother started getting severe allergies in her early 30s out of nowhere. We have no one in our immediate family with allergies. She had to eat the most basic meals ever to see what was causing her hives. Come to find out that she is allergic to nuts, shellfish, and some preservatives (found in food and skincare/makeup products). She journaled everything she ate with the time/date. I recommend doing the same and maybe using only dermatologist recommended products! Hope you find some answers 🤍
Same for me. After my 30’s I developed an allergy to strawberries, mandarin oranges, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cashews. There’s something else that’s making have a reaction that I eat daily and I can’t figure it out.
@@ashleys_space Isn’t that so crazy!! Right now, she can’t eat some fruit (like watermelon and strawberries) during certain seasons because that’s when her allergies tend to flare up. Immune systems are so weird! I hope you’re able to figure out what’s causing your recent allergy reaction 💛
25:48 you wearing and MTV tshirt and saying “ridiculousness” just brought back memories 😂
This is an aside but I have rosacea and react extremely to sunscreen. I reacted horribly to sunbum. I also have no idea what causes my reactions but I recently switched to korean sunscreen (specifically beauty of joseon) and have had no issues so far. Korea has some of the best skincare in the world and they are much more sun conscious and use different ingredients than American companies. If it’s available to you, I highly recommend trying Korean sunscreen!!
Lala I love your videos so much, truly one of my favorite CZcamsrs and your vlogs are my favorite type of video that you make. But I would love it if you got a stabilizer of some kind for your vlogging clips. I suffer from motion sickness and the shaky camera work makes me nauseous 😔
Come to Nanaimo Rotary Book Sale on the island!!! It’s an entire mall, my life revolves around it
Not sure if this would help you, but I developed an allergic rash response to something in American sunscreens bc the FDA doesn't regulate whichever chemical it is, but I've found Korean and Japanese ones are just fine. My favorite is Japanese brand skin aqua. You could also try ones labeled "sensitive skin". I hope you find out what to avoid and get to wear sunscreen again!
I sold books to a used bookstore for the first time recently, good titles in good condition, they also took 20 but I only got $29 in credit. I was already feeling a bit scammed but $70 is amazing!
Oh my goodness, I did this exact thing with four brand new Captain Underpants books I'd just bought for my son. They had already put them into circulation, so while I did get them back, they had library stamps and stickers on them. 😮💨
Ask your library to reserve possible donations from the book bin for a week before processing them. That's what we do at my library. Toddlers sometimes put random books in the library book bag when someone's looking the other way.
@@nanimaonovi2528 They actually do... I just hadn't noticed the Captain Underpants books were missing for several weeks. 😅 And I can't blame my kids, it was 100% me who put them in the library bag. 😅😅😅
I'm collecting Nancy Drew too! My grandmother bought me the first 5 when I was kid, and now as an adult, I am working on getting the rest. I'm also collecting The Hardy Boys for my kiddo. He's been enjoying those at bedtime.
im halfway in. she says she didnt like the book. so now im wondering, can she donate it again? 😂
ur so slay like for real dont ever let anyone tell u otherwise
I too love baseball. My daughter played soccer for 18 years (which I grew to love) and a few seasons of baseball. The baseball is forever in my heart as some of the best days of my life.
You should try Korean sunscreen! They use different filters we aren’t able to use in NA. So maybe one of those will work for you. My faves are roundlab’s and Issintree’s. And the Abib sunscreen stick is good for reapplication.
im allergic to sun creams too! i was told to start by looking for suncream with titanium dioxide in it to try and its been working well for me so far
Omg, you’re stronger than me. I would have lost it 😂.
That's so weird! I've been having sudden allergic reactions to things I've never been allergic to before, and one of them was my sunscreen I'd been using for YEARS. I also swapped over to Cetaphil because it's the only one so far I don't react to (I've tried a few; bad idea, had a reaction to them all apparently), but I still haven't been able to nail down what it is in the other sunscreens that's making me react. It's not just sunscreen, either, I've been reacting to foods I was never allergic to. The allergist just said I'm getting old (I'm 32), but ngl I'm gonna get a second opinion. It was literally out of the blue, all these allergies.
You should check the preservatives. Parabens were safe and well studied. The replacement preservatives?? Not so much. Many are irritating and cause allergic reactions.
@@pithygrapefruit I will, thank you!!
If Cetaphil lotion works for you, they have sunscreen for people with sensitive skin so might be worth checking out
Also, don't be fooled by clouds lol. The sun reflects off them sometimes and you can get sunburnt just as easily if not more easily as if you were in direct sunlight
Your husband did it, it was not your fault, this is a great lesson for him in “when in doubt, ask”
We all need a Rob in our lives, he’s hilarious, and such a good sport. You guys are amazing together, made for each other 🌟.
He was such a jerk at the beginning
Love an unhinged depraved moment, glad there was a win to balance things out!
my mum has skin reactions like this and its the fragrance in the sunscreen and skincare that she react too, try out fragrance free to see if that helps at all ❤
Agreed!
Get one of the stickers they use for makeup swatches, put it on the underside of your arm, then buy a bunch of different sunscreens and compare ingredients. Whichever swatches swell up have the common ingredient you're allergic to, maybe. It's a similar test to the allergy tests they do at the doctor, but you may want to do a little more research so you feel more comfortable. Or just go to an allergy doctor. :)
I am allergic to sunscreen too. I’ve switched to zinc mineral sunscreen and it gives me 0 issues. I have VERY sensitive skin.
I also have a bunch of allergies, sunscreen and I don't get along, but for medical reasons, I have to avoid the sun. So, a few recommendations if you want to try them: I got a UV protective swim cardigan lightweight in amazon that I love and an Asian sunblock, wishtrend sun stick. It is the only one I haven't had a reaction to yet. Let me know if you try them.
Yes, I was gonna suggest sun protective clothing as well. It’s such a great option for people who can’t wear or don’t like sunscreen! I love the brands Baleaf & also Coolibar
I’m allergic to chemical sunscreens. I use mineral ones instead. Oxtinoxate is a common chemical that a lot of people are allergic but unfortunately you would likely have to patch test products.
Use mineral sunscreen! I have such a bad allergic reaction to some chemical in sunscreen but no problem with mineral.
Omg that looked like a huge used bookstore! I wish we had things like that by me 😢
I also have a lot of skin allergies, and am allergic to a lot of sunscreens. I highly recommend the Clinique sunscreens
Go Liam!! He is such a good athlete ⚾
The way my heart dropped!
Liam is an awesome athlete!
Pretty Little Wife by Darby Kane was so good!
Nooo, Kayla soccer is a 4000/10 to watch!!
You might be allergic to coconut - it might be in addition to your peanut allergy!
I read Never Saw Me Coming the same month as They Never Learn coincidentally; it was very revenge women, dark academia, thrillers with the word Never in the title lol
I can't wear make up or certain moisturisers as my skin just reacts and itches. The only SPF 50 my skin likes is Bondi sands ( I'm Scottish and dislike heat lol) nivia anything gives me red patches
Great entertaining vlog! I hope you find out what you are allergic to. I have put a hold on Never saw me Coming but it's a long wait! Not on Everand UK either.....
Idk if you have this in Canada, but I have incredibly sensitive skin and most things break me out, and I can use the Coppertone Water Babies sunscreen. Maybe that or a similar one for babies would be safe to try!
The allergies happened to me! Turned out I’m allergic to glycerin! Can’t use any face products and have to use a homemade soaps
Maybe sunscreen powder? I got some and the ingredients are fewer and more mineral based, might help?
Did you only use the sunscreen once? When was this that you had the reaction? I got full body HIVES from the solar flare that happened. It was insane. Could have coincided when you used the sunscreen?
Sports are so important in the USA and Canada . You all put so much hard work and money in it and it counts
My daughter is allergic to everything except mineral sunscreen. You could try Blue Lizard and you can get it in a stick form (mineral sunscreen is awful to apply).
That's a bummer about your sunscreen. You could try buying some from the EU if you're able, they use different ingredients and different standards than US/CA. I struggle with SPF on my face, but bought some in the UK recently and it hasn't upset my skin at all.
this was outrageous and so fun 💀
About the sunscreens: have you consiered trying Korean sunscreens? They work better anyway, but maybe they also don't have whatever chemical you're sensitive to.
MY PARTNER ALSO DONATED MY BOOKS lolol I had a stack of library books with two of my own books at the bottom. he returned the whole stack instead of just the library books :')
I can't believe how many people have this shared experience 🤣🥲
If those sunscreens are chemical sunscreens, have you tried mineral sunscreen? 2 ingredients such as zinc oxide or titanium dioxide form sun protection from their white minerals compared to chemical sunscreens (the ingredients with names I can't pronounce) work by a chemical reaction inside your skin to create a sun protection. Some mineral sunscreens give a very noticeable white cast and others are formulated different to not have a noticeable look.
Just went through rounds of allergy testing myself and I’m allergic to a very popular skincare/makeup ingredient called propylene glycerol/propolis. I’ve also found it in sunscreen so hopefully you’re not allergic too :(((
Dang never clicked on a video so quick!😭😂
Regarding the sunscreen issue. You can go get tested to see what you're allergic too. A lot of hospitals and clinics have very comprehensive allergy testing
My appointment has been booked for a while, it's still 4 months out 🥲
not sure how sensitive your reactions are to the sunscreen, but if you aren't so sensitive that a little on your body would cause a full body reaction, you could try to find other sunscreens you want to try and/or that have some ingredient differences from the one(s) you're allergic to (especially if it's a larger ingredient in the sunscreen) and do spot tests somewhere on your body where you just rub in a little bit of sunscreen on and see if you have a reaction (throughout the day) on that spot before using it everywhere. I feel for you and empathize as I also have a lot of food and other allergies and sensitivities!
Confirmed that rob didn't get rid of your book, the book Escaped you because it knew you would give it one star 😂
Sods law really came in strong by letting you re-find the bad book!
Unfortunately, neither umbrellas nor clouds block all UV… I’m so sorry this is happening Kayla, hopefully you’ll figure out your allergies soon!
My twins are also allergic to sunscreen, but luckily they have a non allergenic sunscreen. It worked wonders for them.
I’ve done this so many times lmao 😂
There are tests for allergies like they inject a tiny bit in ur arm to see if it causes a reaction or not
Yeah my appointment isn't until October 😅
This was a wild video concept! I'm sorry you didn't enjoy the book you bought back more
For the sunscreen issue, there are companies that make formulas for people with sensitive skin and allergies.
In regards to sunscree, try small chemical sunscreen samples if your local beauty store has any or Target. I was that both sun bum has mineral filters in it which could cause the reaction. I would suggest take an allergen test just to be safe because sunscreen is important.
Now, I can see why the book u donated ended up in the book sale xDD
When the Spouse does something nice 😂❤
Me, seeing the title "Never Saw Me Coming": THEY NEVER SAW IT COMIIIIIIIIIING!!! 🎶
It may not make you feel any better but maybe it’ll make you feel like you aren’t alone. I had Shingles ON MY FOREHEAD around 15ish times from the time I was 20 until I was 36. It went mistreated and misdiagnosed until then. I got a special waiver to take the Shingles vaccine because I was too young. Now I don’t get the Shingles. What I do have is psoriasis (and this fun thing where I sweat while I sleep. I’m not actually hot but I sweat.) I’ve had to change body wash, deodorant, some lotions and moisturizers. So, welcome to the club that no one actually wants to be in. 😂 I do advise anyone wanting to take the vax for Shingles to research first and decide if they actually need it.
You always have the most original video concepts but this may take the cake.
