*Fun Fact* When this album first came out I had to immediately learn this. Not many Tool songs I can play start to finish so I posted it on I.G. I tagged Adam Jones and against all improbability he actually saw it, took the time to like and comment "Nailed it!" Definitely a top highlight being a mega Tool fan and a regular musician.
The solo you hear at about the 9:20-9:40 is actually a bass solo and the synth you hear at about the 10:11 mark is being played by Danny with small mallets on a wild keyboard type thing suspended behind him....they pull this off live at absolute album quality....thanks man , love the TooL reactions
It's crazy how it sounds better live in person than a digital copy with expensive headphones. During Culling Voices Danny was playing the 2nd guitar part during the first half of the song before the drums ever came in. Blew my mind.
Adam is one of my absolute favorite guitar players; I'm glad to see him get his time in the spotlight, especially with his work on this record, that his fellow bandmates have each gotten on past records. His wonderful guitar tone and tasteful riffs have always been the soul of Tool's music for me. Great reaction, as always, Brian!
Tool typically has a pretty strict no-phones policy at their shows (excluding maybe 1 final song at the end of their setlist), so it's not common to find live recordings of their shows out there. That being said (having just gone to my first live performance of theirs in their Fear Inoculum tour this year), if you get the chance to see them live absolutely jump at the chance. They are even better live, and their stage show and effects are so unique. Danny's Chocolate Chip trip solo was particularly awesome, splicing in a series of overhead cameras and POV from him behind the drum kit.
There's some good live videos of some of the salival performances. Definitely recommend that version of Third Eye after you listen to the official audio
There is a video of the band playing Lateralus. One of the best ones from 2001 - 2002 Lateralus tour. The title of the video is something like Lateralus Last 2002 concert and maynard is dressed in all black. In the beginning Maynard adresses the crowd with an inspirational speech and then the band is captured giving a great final song of their tour Laterlus. This video depicts maynards theatrical performance side. This tour was my first time seeing T00L and this video brings back that moment. Hope you do a reaction video of it. Thanks.
"I think this may be my favorite record"... BOO YOU!!! Just kidding (sort of, to each their own, of course). AEnima is the pinnacle and epitome of Tool. Not that I don't love everything else, because I do, but nothing has quite been an example of their evolution like Aenima. This is not coming from nostalgia either, I don't care what anyone says. Both Lateralus and 10,000 Days have masterpieces, of course, but unlike Aenima they are not a complete masterpiece in and of themselves.
Ok " Lateralus138"😂 I see AEnima as the last angry album with the transition to a more positive energy. Historically Lateralus is considered to be Tools Masterpiece. I think each album perfectly shows where they all are in their musical journey as very few artists can.
@@guylewis477 "Historically", lol, there's nothing official about opinion and angry tool is the pinnacle of Tool (IMO). "Angry" is what I associate with the most and what is needed, especially in this day and age of weakness. I love Lateralus, and it is a masterpiece, but so are all of their other albums with the exception of this lackluster last album for which I like maybe 30 seconds of each song. Still, none of them even come close to Aenima (IMO). And my username is just a gaming name I changed to when the album came out because I found the word cool...
