    Seeing you point out the Realistic Electronic Reverb warms the cockles of my black, black heart.

    Pretty cool, man. I was really hoping to hear that circuit-bent Boss reverb :)

    Thank you! Super helpful and mind expanding! You are my hero! I'm looking into the Evantide Powerfactor hub now! Thanks!

    Useful info. Could have probably figured it out myself with a bit of work, but you give some good tips.
    I'm just getting back into Ableton myself. I didn't know it had this feature - pretty cool.
    I know Studio One has a hardware insert or something, but to be honest, I haven't used that either yet. Ableton looks pretty straightforward.
    I need to find a half-decent (cheap) USB audio interface as my Saffire is FireWire and my Alesis Io2 is only stereo (has sp/dif though). Still, as always, it's the process and the concept.
    This opens up another creative path in Ableton which is just insanely creative anyway.
    Cheers.

    This is so dope... I been trying to figure what's the best bang for buck to add depth to my sound. I do a lot of sample based beats/ remix stuff in Ableton Push or my MPC. Been thinking about getting a pair of moogerfoogers for external ableton efx... granted your setup is insane, but you confirmed it def can make it sound warmer.

    as soon as i wann use more than one audio effect with my focusrite 18 20, it doesnt work anymore, no matter which inputs or outputs im using for teh second , third harware. any ideas why ? thx

    Great video! Question what's the best process for recording say an ableton drum bus being sent to a reverb hardware effect unit like an alesis midiverb unit..how would I then re record all this in one go? As in real time capturing the audio being routed through the effect and back into ableton?

  • @MBArkestra
    @MBArkestra Před 6 lety

    Am I correct in assuming that the only way to make the effect stick (IE: not go away as soon as you turn off or unplug the pedal) is to freeze/flatten the recorded track while the pedal is plugged in? Not a big deal if so, though I guess it's sort of a pain since you'll want every facet of that track mixed exactly how you want it at time of recording, lest you have to re-record.

    Im routing a Boss ME-70 multi effect guitar pedal in my apollo 8.
    For some reason audio is not getting into the pedal but FX are coming out (like distortion or flange when when increase the gain enough to hear it)
    I tried both balanced and unbalanced cables to send audio to the Pedal but nothing.
    Why doesn't this work? but when I connect a guitar to the effect pedal it takes a signal going in?
    Thanks

    Are you using a head mounted GoPro? Nice camera handling, if not!

    Can I daisy chain my effects so I'm using less inputs on my audio interface? I have a lot of hardware synths so I can't use an input for every effect.

  • @Mario-nl3mb
    @Mario-nl3mb Před 7 lety +1

    great video - thank you - one question though: Is there a reason why you didn't use a reamp box when routing the eventide h9 to your interface? I thought reamp boxes are required for the effects that are not reverbs/delays - which I know H9 contains many other cool effects. Thanks in advance!

    • @AnalogIndustries
      @AnalogIndustries  Před 7 lety +4

      It depends on the effect you're using. Guitar-only pedals (like the Big Muff Pi in the video) would probably be happier in general with a reamping loop. But the H9, like all Eventide pedals, can run at line level, so there's no need for it. That said, the impedance police aren't going to come to your house and waterboard you if you don't do things the way they do them on Gearslutz.

    • @Mario-nl3mb
      @Mario-nl3mb Před 7 lety

      Analog Industries thank you! Had one more question - for someone who may have multiple H9s and other effects - do you recommend connecting them line level or daisy chaining them together into a single stereo line level ? Wondering if I may need to upgrade to a more robust interface .

    Thanks for your video ! I read everywhere you need a Reamp box (and a DI box) to keep a good convertion with the audio signal. I own a Umc204hd (2 outputs - 2 inputs) which sound crap on my pedal delay for example, but good on others. What do you think ?

  • @nedavine
    @nedavine Před 8 lety

    Great video. Are running either side of the modular through a mixer or input /output module? I imagine there is quite a level discrepancy between what comes out the interface and what goes in (via the modular)

      Well, yes. I guess I should have mentioned that. I use a Circuit Abbey Unify.

  • @RKTologist

    its insane, with thunderbolt the latency is virtually imperceptible and you can run effects in real time without having to compensate

    im trying to connect my rooster eq rack to ableton and its giving me crazy feedback. what do i do ?

  • @Mario-nl3mb
    @Mario-nl3mb Před 7 lety

    also, one more question - is it more CPU efficient to drop your pedal effects as send effects rather than dropping them into individual tracks? thanks!

    • @AnalogIndustries
      @AnalogIndustries  Před 7 lety +1

      I can't answer that. The PC I use for music is totally blown out, and the external effects plugin uses no noticeable CPU on my machine.

  • @dman030
    @dman030 Před 5 lety

    wanted to ask, how is the latency on this when recording into ableton?

  • @MechanicalHarvest
    @MechanicalHarvest Před 7 lety

    Great video! Can you help me understand why my Big Sky Reverb pedal is causing feedback when I try this? Is reverb tricky to use as an external effect, compared to distortion, etc? I'm using a Focusrite saphire firewire interface...It kinda works but only really quiet or else there's wicked bad feedback :(

    • @marcuswilespage
      @marcuswilespage Před 7 lety +1

      MechanicalHarvest hey I have a focusrite interface well and have dealt with feedback. I found that the issue was my patch in the Mix Control Software

    What audio interface are you using? Any experience with bad ones to stay clear of?

    • @AnalogIndustries
      @AnalogIndustries  Před 8 lety +1

      There are so many bad ones, I don't even know where to start. In this video I'm using a MOTU Ultralite Hybrid Mk3, which has its own set of problems but is probably the path of least resistance in Euroland.
      The only interface I've ever owned that was problem-free was a Lynx AES16e / Mytek 8x192 combination, and that needs so much support infrastructure to be useful that it's almost not worth the effort unless you're making a lot of money from your music.

    • @oscillosaurus
      @oscillosaurus Před 8 lety

      I have been using a MOTU Audio Express for a few years, great little unit but more a jack of all trades - a few I/O, SPDIF, MIDI I/O. Seriously lacking ins and outs, Ultralite has heaps more.

    • @oscillosaurus
      @oscillosaurus Před 8 lety

      Ultralite Mk4 just released! Nice addition of SPDIF for Eurorack guys so can play nice with ES-40 :)
