    I still find, after all these years, the soundscape and graphic style impressive, immersive, imaginative and fantasy inspiring.

    I was so impressed how the background was unique and constantly changing. Unlike other games where the background was simple and kept repeating. Also, the background was constantly being loaded from disk while playing, which showcased the amazing multitasking abilities of the Amiga.

    Probably the best gameplay for this game out there.

    The best shoot 'em up ever for the best computer ever. I don't understand how the game can be forgotten and overlooked by so many. - I guess none of them had an Amiga.

      @@luxdico Well, most of the games you mentioned are nowhere near the technical and stylistic level of SWIV.
      Xenon 2 is the only game that is somewhat on par. However, the game has technical problems with the sound on the AMIGA.

    • @davidaitken8503
      @davidaitken8503 Před 2 lety +3

      Yeah. We had more impressive shoot 'em ups on more impressive systems like the SNES. This version of the game honestly looks pretty bad compared to the one on the SNES which plays much faster and smoother. Though good, I wouldn't place it in the top 10 of best SNES shooters either. You need to expose yourself to better systems and games, dude.

      @@Chuck_vs._The_Comment_Section The SNES is a superior piece of hardware for running games and its' version of SWIV is a perfect example. How is it you aren't aware of this fact. It honestly isn't even close. Having never played the Amiga back in the day I was interested in learning more about it, yet all I find are videos like this, apparently showing some "advanced" game on it looking, sounding, and playing far more primitive than even the mid-tier SNES games like Super SWIV. Or as I knew it as, Firepower 2000.
      Enlighten me. What am I missing? I honestly would like to learn more about it but so far I'm unimpressed.

    difficulty level in this game was very good, not too easy, not too difficult. generally shooting games with energy and millions of flying bullets on the screen which you couldn't really avoid it was always crap for me, "few lives system" and every object to avoid ( apart of shield time) was better ( like SWIV or other silk warm , original 1942, commando ect.). I know, right. I don't understand these people gushing about the Amiga when THIS is the best it could do? The SNES version is so much more impressive it could almost be considered a different game, and though good, it wouldn't even make a top 10 list of the systems' best shooters. I like the game, especially in two player co-op. In the States we knew it as Firepower 2000.

  • @davidaitken8503
    @davidaitken8503 Před 2 lety

    Um, does the Amiga version have no music while you're playing? This version of the game really sucks compared to the SNES version I grew up on. Living in the states, I'm not that familiar with the Amiga but if this is the best it can do, I'm not impressed. Do you not get different types of weapons and bombs in this version either? Can the jeep even lock its' aim in different directions and jump?

    • @camulodunon
      @camulodunon Před 2 lety +1

      To be fair the entire game is on single 512kb disk. They did a good job considering that limitation
      You should check out Battle Squadron on the Amiga, smooth frame rate, 32-color graphics (as opposed to 16 here), in game music, and it actually scrolls in more than one direction. Still not on par with the better shmups on the consoles, but it leaves this game in the dust.

      You also shouldn't compare systems that were 5 years separated... between Summer 1985 (Amiga Release) and Winter 1990 (SNES release) the leaps between hardware generations were huge, and the SNES was optimized for gaming from the beginning.
