Those jokes using the LTR to stack a playoff lineup will lead to rule changes soon. I saw goaltender warmups go away because of Al Arbor, I have seen a trapezoid because of some goaltender from NJ could handle the puck. It is one thing for things to fall into place with an injury, and you get a player back for the playoffs. It is another when it becomes your team's MO as a way to cheat. Everyone knows they got too much too soon with the expansion draft rules, and they strong-armed every team in the NHL with the draft. Well, at least teams with any kind of talent and depth.

As a new hockey fan, this has immediately became my favorite NHL channel, I greatly appreciate the insight my guy
I so wish that there had been something like this in the 80s and 90s when I was a new fan. Hockey Psych does such a great job breaking down the way teams play, you just don't get that from mainstream hockey news sources, and if you aren't learning it on the ice you just have to piece it together over the years.

An important thing worth mentioning that you missed with the Canes: they were down 2 star players and a couple others at the start of the playoffs last year and continued to suffer injuries through the rest of the playoffs with even Fast getting injured in the last game against Florida. With a (mostly) healthy roster right now (excluding the aforementioned defenseman) they look in way better shape to make an even better run this time around.

He admitted after the game that it was an OH SHIT moment and he just took a swipe at it and got lucky. He knew it was going in....
It did look great though. No need to try and make an acrobatic save that would be meaningless.

One could say the same about the Panthers last year. Thats a full month of 100% effort before the puck drops in game 1 of the playoffs, and takes its toll. That being said, as much as I want the cup to come to ANY Canadian team this year, my money is on the Panthers.
hockey is the best pro sport on the planet. other leagues/sports may have more fans and generate more money, but the nhl consistently has the most entertaining games as a viewer. the playoffs just take it up to another level. i can't frickin' wait lol

After your vids all season I have never been so excited going into a playoffs. Stars fan to heart but Nucks fan since young. What a season and as a Texan who grew up in the south I have learned more about hockey and see a new world of what happens on the ice because of this channel. I have never had a chance to ice skate. Always something I see in movies or last decade on youtube. Words can describe how great you have been from the start of your channel. Thank you for all you do and not expecting us to have grown up where hockey is the main sport! Now let's see who earns a jersey purchase this year! Keep up the great work!

The battle of Florida will be the series to watch. It was the best series in the playoffs last time they played. So much skill, it should be very entertaining!
Different system than in years past Panthers will make it a series and wear the lightnings depth down. Vasy can keep them in games but we won’t know which version we get till tomorrow

Dallas(I'm biased,yes) but after 2020 in the Cup final, 2023 in the conference final, they have finally put the pieces together that work. This team really reminds me of the team in the late 90's.
You know the odds are long when the Leafs best shot is either the Bruins underestimating them and losing the series themselves, or the Leafs act like a completely different team.
That said really looking forward to this year. I think the cup has a better chance of returning to Canada than it has in a long time. Winnipeg and the Canucks both look 99% of the way there and just need that extra something something for playoff success. If they either finds it, they're a top contender.

The Jets are horrible matchup for the Avs
From my perspective, I just wish LA would have consistency and play to the level that they are capable of. They can be great and any team can win on any given night, but it feels like LA plays to the level of their opponent. They should've been stomping teams in the lower end of the standings but barely squeak by with an OT win in the last game of the season against the second-to-last place Blackhawks. They get caught by their rival Ducks towards the end of the season in a 3-1 loss, but can beat Vancouver 6-3 in the game before it. It's baffling to me as a Kings fan that every game feels like we've already lost until we don't. Trying to keep some faith, but that Oiler kryptonite is very real and it'll feel like we won the Cup of we make it out of the first round. *laughs to hide tears*

I mean all the Bruins had to do was win one of their last two games and they proceeded to not give a fuck instead. Seriously, they lost to Ottawa. That takes effort.
Regardless. We play who we play. Gotta beat the teams in front of us if we want the ultimate prize. That just happens to include Tampa at the moment. The boys have the talent and experience now to get it done. Should be a great series.

Stars get my vote as favorite. Reaching the finals a few years ago is a big plus with alot of the same players. Usually teams get a close call with a cup before maturing and actually winning one. Panthers would be my 2nd pick.

Absolutely love your breakdowns and how you see things! That said i think you didn’t see how much depth the oilers gained this year. Its not only relied on offense, they got key defensive this year that generates offensive and 3rd 4th liners that can grind. Goaltending is shaky though.

This playoffs is going to be brutal. Stars-Knights revenge series? I’m in. Classic Bruins-Leafs series? Double in. A lot of people hate the Leafs but I think it would be really cool to see them slay their demon and beat the Bruins in what will almost certainly be a 7 game series, won’t be easy though, feels like the Bruins will have a bit of a chip on their shoulder after what happened last year.

My team ia not in the playoffs (Seattle) and I get to enjoy watching this all shake out. Honestly, this is as wide open as I've seen the playoffs be in some time. Expect a lot of the unexpected to happen.
We have a great field of playoff teams this season and no clear favorite. The first round is going to be hockey worth watching and it only gets better from there. As a Stars fan, I just hope my team and its fans can carry themselves with some dignity this time around. Not like last year.

I understand is an American sports thing to know East Vs West, which is the best of every division. But come on, third year with almost same teams and same play offs. They will anyway be a lottery and exciting to see don't get me wrong, but again LA Vs Oilers, Bruins Vs Toronto... I rather would see Oilers Vs Tampa, Avalanche Vs Hurricanes... I mean teams from same division have already face each other like 8 times in regular season.
Maybe is only a problem, of regularity, few teams from the bottom surprise and rise to play off. And best teams continue every year.

NHL always goes through cycles of this. There's several years of similar playoffs, then the top teams rebuild and the bottom teams start to figure themselves out and everything is chaos for a while. Then as the rebuilds steady and the best of the bottom is sorted out, a new normal sets in

I genuinely enjoy your breakdowns, as they are quite detailed, and breakdown the technical aspects of the game into something digestible for a casual hockey fan, and thanks to your shoutout of Hockey Training, I've been able to show my son many technique videos to work on his game. Your jokes are getting tiresome though. Every video hearing " The Vegas Inure Reserves" is getting old. Yes, they exploit the LTIR, but 31 other tames have the ability to do it to. The CBA is the the joke, and laughing stock, not the Golden Knights.
As a canucks fan I hope demko can keep it together and we can play a more physical game because we all now how it will go if these things don’t line up
