Use good speakers or headphones! There are two main ingredients, both quite well done, in the engine noise coming through the speakers, induction growl and base tone. In the video the difference in induction noise is quite clear but is slightly more different in real life. The bass is harder to hear the difference in the video if you don't have a good pair of stereo or monitor speakers.
Coded the engine noise of and on with the Carista app and an OBD2 bluetooth adaptor
Sounds great without the fake noise. You hear more induction and turbo.
It sounds very honest and real without it. It's a keeper for me. But the fake noise is very well done! And fun!
@@rejsa-nu how did you disable it? Via app? Still waiting on my car but hopefully it will arrive in January😊
@@shibacentral6507 Carista phone app gr-yaris.co.uk/forum/threads/coding-carista-app.222/
Sounds great with the "fake noise" too
Agree, adds a bit of fun and excitement to the experience 👍 But when driving daily it can be a bit much comparing it directly to the "all natural" sounds only.
With fake sound: v12 like noise.
Without fake sound: like a 90's or mid 2000's turbocharged performance car.
So w/o fake sound is more better
From the video i would say without is better, but its hard to tell how it actually sounds in the car. Is the sound still recorded in the engine and fed through the speakers?
stupid reply ..
100% real sound is ALWAYS better.
Doesn't matter what car it is or how "realistic" the fake sound is !! 🤮
Interesting, I prefer it with the fake engine noise turned off! The sound of the intake and turbo is really quite cool, even if the engine itself is nothing special to listen to.
You make good content ! I will get my yaris SOON and youre Videos are very informal 👌
Thanks :-)
The fake sound sounds like playing Gran Turismo. So bad! First thing to do is remove that shit if i would buy one
Much better when it's off!
How did you turned it off?
A beta version of the mobile phone app Carista, here's more discussion about what it can do gr-yaris.co.uk/forum/threads/coding-carista-app.222/
So have you left the synthetic engine sounds of or did you put it back on i am curious?
I've kept it off so far. Might turn it back on, we'll see 😊
@@rejsa-nu Too bad the gopro has such a bad mic! I'll have to try it myself in march...........
Which phone mount is that?
Nice short video by the way!
It's a Brodit Proclip for Yaris with a self made 3D printed part that is exactly the size of my phone including it's protective cover. But Google Brodit, they have a complete kit too.
@@rejsa-nu Thank you!
Hey, I'm a bit late to the party, but have you maybe heard any difference of vibrations being more or less present with or without fake noise? If you go full throttle below 3k rpm in the yaris, I feel like some vibrations are generated by the active sound. Thanks
Haven't experienced anything like that from the active sound but to be honest I haven't had it on since way back.
I hear almost no difference
Did you listen with good headphones or good speakers? On a mobile phone it's hard to hear any difference, especially the low bass.
Iv put a pod filter on mine, it's so loud
First and second high rev runs sound the same.
Tried listening with good headphones or hifi speaker?
No I will later though. , is it first run with or without sound through speakers.
Also how do I disable it?
@@mikeormond7883 First run is with the fake noise. You can turn it on and off with for example the Carista app (plus a Bluetooth OBD2 dongle)
Can you disable the noise at high revs then or not?
@@mikeormond7883 You can disable all fake sounds totally with the Carista app. The fake sound is made up of a low bass tone plus added induction noise quite similar to the real induction noise but much louder. There is a rumour that a Toyota technician can adjust the level, not only have it fully off and on. Never saw proof of that though. I'm not sure this is what you asked about though, did I misunderstand your question?
bit muffled without the fake sound but still better nonetheless
How did you turn off de fake sound
Mobile phone app Carista 👍
How did u disable it?
Carista mobile phone app and an OBD2 bluetooth adaptor
HKS avgas 😉
Äh, den behöver inte låta på utsidan hehe. Men balansen och drivet pallar mycket mer effekt :-)
The same
Det verkar ändå låta rätt i högtalarna.
Japp, det är välgjort o stämmer rätt bra med originalljudet. "Förstärkt" helt enkelt. Men jag kommer köra utan, jag upplever ljudet klart äktare så.
That's not fake it's the engine sound out the boxes not fake, toyota don't fake
On or off, we reconize always the 3 cylinder, fo me it's that the real problem; when I get the car, I'll really want to improve the fake noise , for example with a 6 cylinder loud noise, and the GR will be perfect.....for me.
I think you are right. There is a microphone in the engine bay (apparently) that transmits certain frequencies through the speakers. I must admit I like it better with the 'piped in' noise then without.
