It’s a really emotional song, about (obvious) parents and how they try to give you wings when you grow up and then when you do, you’re leaving your parents and go your own way..decades in the sun is not performed live because of those emotions..

I started watching Beste Zangers because of Floor and then found that I liked all the singers on the 2019 show. I fell in love with Samantha's voice and apparently she and Floor became friends during the show because they found they had so much in common. Yes, it's true that "Our Decades In The Sun" was co-written by all the members of Nightwish about their parents and they have never as a group performed it live in concert. I do believe that Floor has performed it as part of her solo act but in English of course.

Yeah, it's quite similar... Especially in sentence building you can translate the words one on one and get a good sentence.
@@JHX1 There is a YouTYuber .. Langfocus where he goes into detail on the connection. Basically .. Old Dutch and Old English were close enough that speakers could probably communicate pretty easily .. brother/sister languages. If English had not been 'salted' with French Norman they would be much closer today.

Dutch has influences from England, Germany and even some Swedish or Norse. Or it sounds like it
As Afrikaans speaking South-African, Dutch is quite easy to understand since my mother tongue developed from Afrikaans

2 days ago, on wednesday, finally was the concert from Floor Jansen and Henk Poort and she did Decades in the sun as well. The whole concert was great! For her the first one after 1,5 years. And i recorded The PhAntom.. it is on my page here on YT

I just realized that the sound that the 'ij' (like in steenwijk and altijd) makes doesn't even exist in English. It's close to 'ay' or 'ey' but slightly a different sound.
