- Section 4 is 65 miles from Tahquamenon Falls to Trout Lake Rd. This is a special section because I am joined by one of my hiking buddies from the Pacific Northwest Trail, Fitty Shrimp. We also stumbled onto a trail crew and found out how much work goes into maintaining the NCT.

For future NCT hikers. If you're looking for a nice shelter with firepits there is a nice one across from the Naomikong Overlook on Curley Lewis Hwy. Cross the street to the NCT trailhead on the south side of the road. The shelter is a very short hike in...not even a mile. When you come to the large pond look to your right. The shelter is on the north side of the pond. The setting is beautiful. The shelter was built by the Boy Scouts and their fathers on Father's Day weekend June 2013. Welcome to the U.P. Remember we have bears, wolves, and even big cats. So bring your bear spray. I'm local so I'm always packing heat when I enter our beautiful woods. Be safe! Hope to see yous out there.

An honest to goodness trail angel sighting. The Hiawatha Shore to Shore Chapter are some of the hardest working trail crews you will ever meet AND when you hike their section of the trail you are quite likely to do just that...meet them that is.

Thanks for this great video. I've hiked a short section of the NCT in the Trap Hills, now your video has me wanting to hike this segment. The river camp site looks cool, where was that? Also, the flashes at night are probably the increasing numbers of small satellites being launched by SpaceX and Amazon, and others.
