    How to make the Best Apricot Brandy sour ever! Sorry, the best Apricot Cognac sour ;)
    1.5 oz Cognac
    0.5 oz Apricot liqueur
    0.25 oz Simple syrup
    0.75 oz Lemon juice
    1 large or 2 small apricots
    1 Egg white
    Muddle the apricot and in a cocktail shaker
    Add the other ingredients
    Shake with ice
    Strain in your shaking tin
    Dry shake
    Fine strain in a coupe
    Garnish with a mint leaf and 3 drops of orange blossom water

    Me and my guests loved it. Apricot liqueur is slowly becoming one of my favourite mixing ingredients if used in moderation. Would also recommend the "Flor de Jerez" cocktail with apricot liqueur, amantillado sherry and jamaican rum another recent favorite of mine.

    Looks delicious. Question: Can you hold back the egg white and WET shake all non-egg ingredients. Strain and then DRY shake with the egg white. Will this give you "better" foam?

      Hey there, here's what I udually answer to this. My point of view is, the difference between dry shake vs reverse are so small, the best technique is simply the one you are the most comfortable with. For example, for me, I just love the reverse dry shake. I get a perfect and consistant result with it. I also think that if someone don't get good foam, the problem is probably not the dry or reverse shake or when the egg was added but the shaking technique itself. So bottom line, about this, I am not the one who will tell you what to do. I would prefer suggesting trying some techniques in order to choose which one you like best and stick to it while don't minding when you see someone doing otherwise ;) But don't overthink it

    Question: If you were to do your own apricot liqueur what kind of recipe you'd go with ? And does this recipe can be applied to other fruits like peach or banana ?

      I would probably (cause I didn't try so I can't say for sure) do a mix of essences and fruit maceration in a fruit eau de vie

    Would be interested to know if you've seen the Educated Barfly episode about comparing shaking techniques. After watching that video, i have a hard time justifying doing a reverse shake. It just seems like more hassle for the same (or worse) result. Do you agree?

      Hey there, I have watched that video. I also don't remember why exactly but I recall having a chat with Leandro about some details he neglected lol My point of view about this is, the difference between both techniques are so small, the best technique is simply the one you are the most comfortable with. For example, for me, I just love the reverse dry shake. I get a perfect and consistant result with it and I feel there's absolutely no hassle making it that way, In fact, it's quite the opposite for me. Example, making a regular dry shake = Throwing some ice in a shaker filled with emulsified cocktail. This always makes a mess. You could add the ice in the other tin and pour your cocktail over the ice closing the shaker you say? Well I am just not comfortable doing so. Everytime it feels awkward. In contrary, the reverse is for me a clean method, faster with which I'm always happy with the result. I also think that if someone don't get good foam, the problem is probably not the dry or reverse shake but the shaking technique itself. So bottom line, I am not the one who will tell you what to do. I would prefer suggesting trying both in order to choose which one you like best and stick to it while don't minding when you see someone doing otherwise ;)

      ​@@TrufflesOnTheRocks Thanks for the answer. I think by 'hassle' i meant that i have to strain it twice, and when you dump the ice you throw out a little of the cocktail with it. Also the shakers get wet already from the start of the process, and when you dump the ice you might have some cocktail running down the sides of the tin. The cocktail will also start heating up after dumping the ice, so it will get warmer faster in the glass (but this might be such a small difference it becomes irrelevant). Like you said, it's probably a small difference. I just think normal dry shake feels a bit cleaner somehow. But I'll definitely be trying this cocktail with reverse dry shake, I just so happen to have apricots lying around:)
