The BTCC is just British NASCAR

Stock bodied type cars, close bumper and door battles, on tight and often fast segments of track, is just the tip of the ice berg when comparing these two very similar series.
It experienced a golden age in a similar era, faced a completely gimped points system, and created personalities that will last for years to come.

If any Nascar fans watch this, try watching BTCC by any means possible. Sure you'll find a lot of people moaning about how the sport died in the early 2000s (sound familiar?) but the current racing is still spectacular, with lots of car diversity, contact-filled but fair racing and, I cannot stress this enough, A NORMAL POINTS SYSTEM.
There are also some old races around on CZcams if you can't catch the current season.

I second this, and I also disagree with people saying how the sport died in the 2000s. I may not be a concurrent viewer of the sport like yourself, but I think it’s still just as excellent as it was before. Perhaps just not as mental as it was during the super touring era proper, but it’s still a great series.
And, yes. An actually legible points system goes a long ways. Something NASCAR could learn from

@@ClumsyCardboard Yeah, I've started following recently and was surprised by how many people criticised anything post-90s without currently not watching it. There were apparently a couple very rough seasons in the early 2000s but it recovered pretty quickly.

@@ClumsyCardboard also have similar weight, a sequential and then independent suspension. I’d love to see top talent in supercars run nascar. Closest is Scott McLaughlin
