It still can be. "Advance Australia Fair" has only been the anthem since the 70's and is exceedingly dull in both lyrics and melody. I love this country and we deserve a better anthem - this should be it.

Listening to this from the other side of the world in Switzerland with no connection to Australia whatsoever. Yet hearing these lyrics, seeing the impact it has on all of those in that audience listening to it… What an amazing and also emotional thing to watch. Dobe Newton and Roger Corbett. Absolute true blue legends. When I was 9, Mum and I saw The Bushwackers live in 1994. One of the most fun nights ever. I even met Dobe Newton with Mum after the show. What a gentleman. I got one of their CD's and had all of the band members sign it. Still proudly own that CD to this day. 😊
You don't even need a beautiful voice to make people cry.... He just sang it and meant every word he sang... and I felt it too... what a moment...

Awesome performance from these 2 Aussie legends. Dobe and Roger have still got it. The Bushwhackers are a truly iconic Australian band who are amazing live. Their bush dances at Sydney town hall & Sydney Art School etc in the 80s were great fun. Dobe is a national treasure. Jess' joy & reaction is so heartwarming & authentic. BTW - Dobe co-wrote this song with the Seekers (also a wonderful Aussie band) - so I hope this channel corrects the description for this vid.

Used to go and watch Buswackers every Friday night at Dan O'Connells pub in Carlton over 4 years ago. The atmosphere and entertainment and talent of the band had people up and singing on the tables. Great memories.
