It's not common for people in the US to live with their parents, so he honestly asked if it was a cultural thing (and outside the US, it often is.) However, often actresses in the states do live with their parents and it's often a subject of conversation in interviews. Dave wasn't being mean or snarky (though "snark" is part of his thing) he was just conversing. Dave is beloved by people (especially guests who "get it") for a reason.

Its like Mandarin Chinese which is most spoken language in the world - because of the size of PRC population and not because Mandarin is widely spoken in all countries or the Lingua Franca of the world.

The Dravidian group of languages however, belong to the Sub-continent as we are the only remaining truly indigenous people of the land, neither our language, ethnic identity or genetics got tainted with blood of Mughals, Mongolians, Greeks etc
