turning off your brain is relying on muscle memory. and because its your unconcious mind playing you also can react faster. so its better to play like that when you know whats comming or dont want to practise anything, but for improvement you need to turn brain on. the zone is when you can mix you subconcious mind with your concious mind, its like your mind just took the limitless pill. but because that state is so rare i'd say turning off your brain is close enough to being in the zone

Can confirm I have learned a lot through osmosis from both of your channels, and from Shofu's old elite smash tags videos. I've never played smash competetiveley and I only play about once a week with my friend with items and stage morph and all that fun stuff, and I have to say I feel so big brain every time I play against him in smashdown lmao

I know a whole bunch about smash but I have never played it and don’t enjoy playing it myself very much. I really enjoy both of your personalities and your commentary on the game. I think that being good at video games is sort of arbitrary, but they’re without a doubt classes of different players. You have casual gamers, casual players, and serious gamers. Everybody is gonna play differently and that’s really cool.
Approximately from 12:50 to 13:50 or so: I think I just became an instantly better player than I was before I heard this advice. So very simple, and yet so very impactful. I know I definitely think too much sometimes in the middle of a match, and I've only just now, thanks to your conversation, realized how that only serves to give my opponent an opening against me. i think “turning your brain off” is actually just a funny way to say “being in the zone” and that’s why it works so well
I don't know man, I've literally turned my brain off and just pressed buttons/fired shots and it just works--in other games too
