Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.
Play no thoughtless notes whenever I pick up the horn.
My mind’s ear plays every note first, determining how I will sound before I even breathe.
From first to last note of every warm-up, practice, rehearsal and performance, first know in my mind’s ear how I intend to sound.
Then focus to play only with that intention.
I compel energetic air to pass through my vibrating lips so those vibrations resonate (match the frequency) of the horn’s vibrating metal.
Tension anywhere in my body - and most especially in my face and neck and chest - is unnecessary and even detrimental.
When I practice intentionally by harnessing my mind’s ear, I can improve more in an hour than I ever imagined was possible.

Hi Yiran. I use a custom trumpet made by Charlie Melk here in the United States. I think Per is using a Yamaha, but I'm not sure what the exact model is.
