It's surprising that they got relegated at all in 1992/93 when they had so much talent at their disposal (but not at all surprising that they bounced back to finish 3rd in 1994/95).

    I was wondering if you could do a video on on who would be the 20 teams to feature in the Premier League if relegation was abolished. Excluding the top 6 (7?) Of course and teams based on just by being in the Premier League now. I was just looking through the EFL recently and was really shocked at the size of some of the teams down there.

    • @calvinbaII
      @calvinbaII Před 11 měsíci +2

      The reason why parachute payments became a thing in 2000-01 was because Sheffield Wednesday's relegation the season before. They had a couple international players on big wages but had a terrible/decrepit defense and went down, thus hemorrhaging money with no TV money to pay their salaries. Wednesday have been out of the EPL since 2000, closest they came to promotion was a 2015/16 playoff final loss, but have a 40k stadium in the 4th biggest city in England. The club had to liquidate most of it's assets including it's own training ground, and had to abolish their youth academy for many years (right at the time Jamie Vardy was released at age 16). Just awful, awful timing with it all.

    Post 5: Alfie you should really consider doing a video on the Bosnian men's national team, from being ranked 13 in the world in 2014 and qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil, to not qualifying for a single tournament since, yet managing to win their uefa nation leagues group, but genuinely hitting our lowest point with a 2-0 defeat to Luxembourg. Aging players, players who represent other national teams that are eligible to play for Bosnia but aren't seeming interested, just the genuine geopolitical mess that Bosnia is with how the Dayton agreement was meant to simply end the Bosnian war yet became the country's de facto constitution. I think it would make for a very interesting video, and could even span additional videos like how Velez Mostar are forced to play away from their original stadium in Mostar as it is on the Croatian side of the river, with their old stadium being taken over by Zrinjski Mostar. A club that was actually banned in Yugoslavia because of their nationalistic origin

If you never saw him play he was similar to a Kante in importance to the team but he leadership was A1 in ways you don't really see since. I'd encourage anyone to watch the of the full matches that include alot of the old players Alfie talks about. It'd broaden your perspective on the game and help you appreciate Alfie's analysis ever more.

      @@Ceaseless_Watcher Clearly, you don't understand the term 'time-barred'. Think of how E Jean Carrol sued trump because of the Adult Survivors Act, which allowed her to do so because the statute of limitations was lifted in 2022 on filing three years after the offence. Bill Cosby too. Basically there was a five-year Statue of Limitations with the UEFA FFP rules, so therefore some charges where not included when City knowingly mistated their accounts and also probably worse their subsequent non-cooperation. The Premier League has no such time limitation. Their titles are tainted.

      @Jorge-lh6px I love it when thickos try to tell someone who works in court about the law. Time-barred doesn't mean 'guilty but out of time'. It means the charges cannot even be considered. The only thing they were found guilty of was refusing to cooperate with UEFA. Which they said they would from the start as the investigation was corrupt. Given that they were cleared of every single financial charge which was in-time and could be considered, seems they might have been right. I've actually read the report. You haven't have you?
