I just want to hug this young man! You can overcome your upbringing.
I can see the deep pain and trouble in his face this is so sad.
This is awful. I hope this young man gets happy in his life, he deserves it.
I love that they blame everything on him, but clearly state his behavior is a result of things the parents did to him
He needs to get away from his parents.
"I punched him in the face. And then he threw me on the ground because he's stronger than me." Seriously sounds like a child "yeah I did this, BUT but and then he threw me on the ground. Because he's stronger than me." Poor me, pity me.🙄 Sounds just like my mother honestly.
Your mother punched you in the face and you threw her to the ground?
Speaking as a Survivor of childhood trauma, it is possible to heal mentally and emotionally from past trauma. It will take time and concentration and practice, but it can be done!❤🙂
I would love to know how you overcame that situation ❤
Please tell us how did you overcome your past trauma
At the end of the day the father is the adult and should not be putting his hands on that child especially not punching him in the Face ID rather let my child hit me as much as they could before I would EVER EVER put my hands on them in violence
The father told him that he thought he was a terrible person and both parents are blaming the son for his anger.
Both So-Called parents are Losers
The son still needs to take responsibility for his own actions
parents have no rights to complain about their child when they are uncapable of maintaining a healthy relationship with them
The young man is angry because the father is so arrogant, unloving, unempathetic, and difficult.
Hello, when your children are that violent, there’s some deeper seeded issues. They are calling out for help!!
He doesn't look angry of rageful, he looks terribly hurt. Just the expression on his face makes me tear up.
I'm so sorry Billy! You deserved so much better! Both of your parents betrayed you. My heart and prayers are with you and your recovery!!
Sounds like the parents are just mad that now he's big enough that he can actually fight back against them
No wonder Billy is experiencing anger issues!
He has experienced so much pain and a seemingly unsupportive family.
Family is not everything. In fact, for many people family brings them down. Don’t be afraid to cut ties with toxic people, even if they are your parents. Your parents don’t own you.
Completely agree. We need to move away from this idea that family is always the best to and for you. That "blood is thicker than water". A lot of the times it's family that hurts you the most.

I appreciate that this family shared these difficult things on the Dr. Phil Show. It can be so difficult to be a family. I also appreciate the father for saying that he's sorry and being very open and honest about what has occurred. A similar thing happened to me when I was a teenager and my mother decided to punch me in the face out of the blue for no reason, apparently. My mother didn't apologize. I don't know what was wrong with her that day. I also became emotionally overwhelmed as a result. I can't imagine trying to be a parent and dealing with the responsibility of trying to be an excellent parent at all times and never making mistakes you really regret. Hopefully their son has recovered and they've all gotten over these issues and are stronger as a result.
This kid just needs some love
"I don't know if I apologized to my son for punching him in the face." Are you kidding?! That means you never did! Quit deflecting, bro! 🤦🏻♀️
These people where clearly practicing the police hold and where definitely planning on using it on the poor kid.
Poor kid
Sad
Regardless of the son's behaviour Dr Phil is right why would any parent abuse them physically for whatever reasons they could've done it differently like send them to therapy anything but a hit.
his parents r to blame
I'm spiderman
I'm sorry maybe of i woukd have gotten a few more beat downs by my pops id probably be better person then I was when I was younger
“Tell me you have white privilege without telling me you have white privilege”
I feel sorry for the father. Children these days are so disrespectful. The mother is probably the cause of this toxic relationship. At the end of the day, that child will be homeless and thrown to the streets. Dr. Phil need to stfu, he has maids, butlers, and nannies to raise his children.
