I AM NOT PAYING MONEY TO WATCH CZcams, SO GET OFF YOUR HIGH HORSE! (Or just tell me if New Earth sucked right now, and if it did, I agree)
Harry's known for years when the next coronation was to wait and make this episode. what a visionary
It’s funny I only am interested in the coronation because I watched the episode as a kid and thought a street party was a cool idea.
I still think a street party is a cool idea.
Was in a street party as a kid, went on a bouncy castle, tried to go on the top on an area you shouldn't be on, fell down the side head first into the concrete floor and a very high fall too, very close to possibly cracking my head open from that. 1/10 wouldn't try again
Back then you didn’t have to get permission from the council, and health and safety first , though!🤣
Yeah, it's underrated this one. People go on about the ending saying you have to forgive your parents no matter what, but I think it shows Tommy gaining agency. He doesn't say, "Dad, come back home", he helps him carry his bags away.
Yeah I used to agree with the hate, but now I see it more as Tommy rising above his father showing that he's the better man.
People tend to forget when looking at abusive situations like this that they are still parent and child and of course the safety of the child is most important who h is why the dad still left, but good relations can develop in time and the abusive parent can change and stop certain behaviours. Speaking from a child of an abusive parent.
I like all the elements of the episode, but the wire’s voice is just so over the top shrieky it’s grating and makes rewatches difficult for me.
This episode is so underrated idc
Can't believe I used to find this one crap, it's suprisingly good. Especially against the crap fear her.
Agreed.
This is big fax. Seeing grandma without a face was scarring as a child
I mean, I do definitely get why people criticized the scene where Rose encourages the kid to go back to his abusive father, but all the stuff Harry pointed out in here actually kinda pleasantly surprised me
The scene at 6:27 is great, but you missed the amazing Easteregg of the bodyguard in the background. The Doctor makes a quip about I think putting your fingers around your elbow, and just out of shot you see him trying lmao
Just shows how good RTD's original era was.
That stories everyone thought were bad or pretty meh at the time, are actually really good and still hold up almost decades later.
This episode was terrifying to me when I was younger. Still kind of is 😭😂
This episode is hilarious to watch because the child actor is Rory Jennings, a now well known football fan pundit who comes out with some pretty terrible takes.
It's possible Magpie had a relative and the business went to them when he died. Perhaps it was the then new owners who turned it around in this universe.
I think that's what happened and that's why Magpie TVs and technology kept popping up in future episodes! 😊😊
This episode has always had a special place in my heart. Never have a dull time watching 10 take control with the detective 😂 brilliant scene
Love that Rory Jennings is in this man went from EastEnders and doctor who to the kick off and you tube
Finally! A video that praises this episode. I've seen so many videos putting this one at the bottom but this video sparks me joy. I give this video 10/Tennant.
this episode as a kid aboustly terrified me just seeing rose without a face gave me nightmares for weeks
Love the fact rory jennings is in this episode
Oooh what a delectable medley of time travelling splendour
Maybe if he had been in the TARDIS he wouldn't have predicted Haaland to flop
it’s disrespectful to the establishment
It was good - but it's no Orphan 55!
Now where is my Bennnnnnnnnnniiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm sorry.....but are you gonna overlook the fact that Rose tells the young man to go after his abusive father - who has just, quite rightfully, been thrown out of the house by the wife? Telling someone to basically forgive someone that abusive and toxic because 'they're your family' is a really dangerous message to give to young people.
My thoughts exactly. It also reflects really poorly on Rose as a person. I guess it's in line with her character (I mean, not in season 1, but it's totally believable for her in season 2), but that doesn't make it any better. It comes across as quite self-centred and ignorant on her part. "Go back to your abusive father because a horrible, abusive parent is better than nothing" is one of the worst lessons, especially when Doctor Who has a fairly high percentage of young viewers. And from personal experience, NO, having an abusive parent is not better than nothing, and I'm sure most people with abusive parents will tell you the same. Maybe I'm being too sensitive, but this whole idea that kids owe their parents respect and love NO MATTER WHAT just because they're their parents is ABSURD.
Exactly this. Harbo's review was way better because it didn't gloss over this huge drawback of the episode
"A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one."
FINALLY! Someone who loves this episode too!
I love The Idiot's Lantern! It's such a nostalgic episode with a really creepy story! It's also represents a really fun part of history! 😊😊
I’ve been watching these videos in a binge and it made me realize that the “bells of St. John” was an attempt to make a “modernized” version of this episode
A raw force personified like living lightning in this episode and the fact the wire is given presence through something now as innocuous as TV is I think why I like this episode.
It's similar to a BBC-made Doctor Who audio book I really liked and actually found a little unsettling at times called Dead Air, in which the big bad was described as being just an angry ball of noise that eats sound, called The Hush, that was terrorising a pirate radio station. This episode is the like the tv equivalent to that audiobook's radio themes.
I absolutely love Dead Air, that's honestly a top tier Doctor Who story for me.
That Elvis hairdo on Tennant is just no words.
God, that intro threw me back, always loved seeing these reviews
Flashbacks to Harry's old intro with this one aha
the dutch tilts are less "strewn throughout" and more of a constant stream. you could get a great drinking game out of taking a shot every time they cut to an un-tilted shot.
Just found your channel today. Now I’m in a full on binge of your videos. ❤
Ahhh, so Name/Night/Day reviews are gonna be released in November? With Time released in December, alongside Ncuti's first story? Then Harry's all caught up!
Hopefully this means we get Children of Earth reviewed in the meantime
OG HMM opening. Fantastic.
This was a very whelming episode
Certainly one of the episodes of all time
Wait... you're telling me the wire wasn't meant to be the Queen?? Was I the only one who always thought this?
@2:33 I adore inanimate sensations, my fave death grips song, I did not suspect it would be showing up in one of Harry's videos djdjjd
What the hell?! I was literally looking for a "Did It Suck" video on this episode yesterday
I just rewatched it and I really really liked it. Love to see the Doctor and Rose having a good time by roasting a misogynistic, and also see them don't forgetting to be compassionate and aware (unlike tooth and claws)
Faceless humans remind me of those faceless Autons from Rose
I don't think she meant he should necessarily forgive his father, more saying his goodbye (the way I interpreted it anyway)
It was uh....it was definitely....definitely an episode. It was most definitely an episode.
doctor who has a problem with setting the climax of episodes atop towers.
I WANT MY BENNIE!
I have a soft spot for this episode because the Ally Pally tv mast stood at the end of my street, where I saw the first episodes of Dr Who at the age of 9, and from which they were transmitted. Moreover, I used to play literally in the shadow of that structure, and around the then semi-derelict structure of Alexandra Palace., which I always felt resembled a set for some such fantastical story.
My god, I wasn't expecting Inanimate Sensation to suddenly grace my ears
14th yes! And this episode's review is FINALLY OUT, YES! Thank you Harry!
I need to rewatch this one now
This episode traumatised me as a child
You say the last one he penned that you’ll review… ever fancy doing An Adventure in Space and Time that he wrote?
Harry it would be really funny to review that interactive game from the Doctor who website where you travel in the TARDIS and try to defeat the Graske
Your ok with a child going with his abusive father... what
You're*
The kid is seeing his father off to the station. If you think he's not going back to his mum you misread the scene.
This. Whatever Gatiss' motivations - which I can believe were probably well-meaning - to show that the "right" thing to do in this situation is to forgive an abuser who doesn't show any sign of repenting his behaviour is morally awful and potentially very damaging. You do not owe someone who has abused you forgiveness. Gatiss should have been asked to remove this moment from the script.
An underhated aspect of this story has to be the Doctor's hair in this episode. Like what the TARDIS were they actually thinking??
What’s the song at 2:36? Also banging review as always
Also will you be rerewving Heavens Sent? Cause I feel your opinion will have changed a lot
Inanimate Sensation by Death Grips, best band ever
@@Gengu thank you
Always thought this one was underrated definitely Gatiss' best or maybe Night Terrors? but i would take this one over that, its creepy, action packed, fun and memorable, just standout Doctor Who imo
Small point... He didn't swap out a light bulb.... But a valve... The device that came before a transistor.... An very important electronics component.
Mark also wrote an adventure in space and time.
This is definitely a great episode
I wish the Wire was a returning Vardan
wait you saying something is wrong with the Sarah jane adventures i love it one of my favourite shows when i was growing up
Rory Jennings hahahahahaj what a bloke
can we get more death grips please
This was really an episode

As long as Chloe Webber isnt involved, count me in!
I never really understood why people hated this episode
Lol did you change your opinion or Heaven Sent you Show regret to pumping it out so quickly
I thought Tommys acting was great tbh 🤷♀️
