The newly redesigned Epiphone Prophecy range combines the classic design and look of Gibson most iconic electric guitars, but adds a host of modern features to make them much more tonally versatile, whilst maintaining the vibe and style of the guitars that inspired them.
This guitar features the classic 1958 Gibson Flying V design with a Mahogany body and AAA Flame Maple veneer. The Mahogany neck features a modern Asymmetrical SlimTaper profile to improve playability. Other more modern features include a 24 fret Ebony fingerboard with a Graph Tech NuBone XL nut, a set of Grover locking rotomatic tuners, and most importantly a set of Fishman Fluence Pickups with an incredibly versatile switching circuit, offering modern high gain, vintage hum bucker and even noiseless single coil options.

truly a golden age of guitars, i'm a proud owner of four epi's, they are fantastic for the money!
Couldn't agree more. Got my first Epi 12 years ago because I couldn't afford Gibson. But since then I've accumulated 6 of them, including 3 previous generation Prophecies, and I have to say I love the brand. Never been let down by them.

Mine was neck heavy, and the fret ends were almost dangerous!!!
I love my Plus Top PRO and I have a '59 on the way so I'm not ready to give up on them over one guitar.
I'm just wondering if I'm an exception or if other people are disappointed with the Prophecy.
@@joehahn8817 couldn't order one afterall. My pre-order got cancelled so went with the Les Paul and love it. Yeah, the Les is neck heavy as well but the quality including fretwork is great. No complaints.
....and i thought Dagan was going into "Bark at the Moon", on the intro... ...i wish he would, in full, on this...with this tone...

I own alot of very good guitars, I own a v in that exact colour, it's my favorite.

@@MrRocknroIl Actually, yeah. It's pretty bad. I changed the tuner buttons to some light plastic ones and made a little counterweight for my strap.
It works but it's kinda like having my Les Paul around my neck with the extra weight.
To be honest, I ain't real crazy about the Fishman's either.
I should probably say that if you play serious Metal this would do just fine, but for Classis Rock...I ain't thrilled.
I have one of Epi's '59 Les Paul Standards coming Sunday according to FedEx. I probably should have done that in the first place.
The Prophecy Flying-V is a beautiful guitar, it just doesn't do what I need a guitar to do.
@@joehahn8817 cheers for getting back to me, mate. I could live with the tone as I have an LP for classic rock, however the neck dive kills it for me. I play standing up 80% of time, so it'll be a crutch. Thanks a lot man, you saved me the trouble!

What's with that SG Three pickup custom hanging on the wall in the left hand corner? Is that new? Is Epiphone rereleasing those?
I like this V and it’s probably gonna be my next axe. The only thing I would change is the pick ups they sound a little cold and thin. Put super distortions in that shit with is a set of Goto 510 locking tuners and a stainless steel nut . Just like my Gibson flying V that sounds and plays freaking awesome…… keep on rockin….
There not cold and thin at all 💪. I play mime through a modded 5150, i often have people coming up to me and saying how good the tone is✌

As far as I know, it's only the extura (explorer type) that has the purple finish, don't know why. Wish they were all in the same colors

Vees are hard to find with Floyd's. Epi has a discontinued sig model that is cool. Schecter has one. THIS....would be Game Changer!

Epiphone Prophecy SG or Flying V as a first guitar?
Big difference in a "Maple Top" and a "Laminate Top".. l do not have a V but absolutely think they are the coolest looking guitar made.. at the expense of being the absolute WORST to sit and play, its a stand only guitar in my book and likely why l have not bought one up to now, l do not have an Explorer either which l have also wanted. Now that the Prophecy line makes what appears to be a nice version of either it will be tough to decide, l am leaning towards the V in Black. However it will take a test run at GC to decide.. hopefully they will get them in soon. Thank you!
You get used to Flying Vs between your legs. Hold it right and it won't move!

Shame it isn't a satin neck otherwise I'd buy one. Gloss necks seem to get quite sticky and make it slow to move the thumb.
Awesome guitar. I will have one soon. Just like the last few Epi's I bought. Unobtanium. They have changed the buying model. Good luck getting one from "traditional" dealers. You'll likely have to buy direct. Not a bad thing. It's just luck of the draw. I kind of like the way they're going here. More profit for them, better guitars for us.
It took Zzounds a few weeks to restock when I was ordering mine but it only took 3-4 weeks to get here. I took that as a good sign that these axes are a solid purchase. Well, they are!!!

Its sooo close to perfect. Why cant epiphone put the strap button on the heel?? I can do it myself but its the principle. My old gibson faded v had perfect balance due to that.
I have the heel mod on my '58 Epi V. I just put a gold Iron Cross Strap button on the original location. I wouldn't worry about value on these. My Firebird Les Paul inspired Custom shop has it in the shitty shoulder location. My back actually hurts because of that location when I play that one. My FB VII is heavier and I can play that all day. edit: This rant inspired me to rant directly to Gibson like an old crotchety dude shaking his fists at the world.
How do you know that it was due to that??? Did you ever try moving it to the other location on your Gibson to see if it causes neck dive??? I'll bet not!!!
You'd have to put the strap button on the neck at about the 15th fret to stop the neck dive on these fuckers!!!

What does that mean?
@@bastardseaman188 meaning that if you wear a guitar strap and dont hold the neck with your left hand, the guitar will slide on your left shoulder and drop down to the left towards your feet. in other words, the guitar is unbalanced. A balanced guitar shouldn't move at all when you wear a guitar strap. Notice how in the video he always has to hold the neck with his left hand

I've got the 58 flying v reissue it does have some neck dive but to fix it all I did was put the bottom part of my strap over the guitars wing instead of under and now my axe stays in place try it out
I think Dagan is out of breath from having to run out of frame to "clean up" in between demos....I would have to as well.
