    It's so weird, I was just watching this video last week and thinking about Ray and The Doors, and now a week later he's gone. Ray and Jim are once again best buds rocking out for the first time in over 40 years.

    He really had superior coordination and dexterity -- extraordinarily precise fingering -- also incredible independence of fingers 3, 4 and 5.

      You see, that lyric is long and all ambitious but as Zeppelin kicked in with Rock And Roll, everybody just heard what that was meant to be. They really shouldn't have... And now they do something like Rammstein. Forget it.

    Ray is like the hippest guy...he even still dresses smooth... Ray sold the Doors sound to me when I was in high school around 1990....and I've been hooked mostly because of him ever since!

    Love you Ray!!! You are THE MAN! You are truly an inspiration to us all, as I am a HUGE DOORS FAN and think you guys are the Best Rock N Roll Band EVER!     Man... I love seeing this... Ray is teaching us how to play this part of Celebration of the lizard...you can see his fingers so well. The Vox and Fender Rhodes piano bass never go outta style.

    Man I still miss Ray. Can't believe he's gone. He was the coolest dude. I mean, when you look up the word "cool" in the dictionary all it shows is Ray at his keyboard talking about how they came up with a song.

    Great Story Ray. I hope he is still living. They were from Venice Beach Calif. My daughter lives in Venice and has for 7 years. I can so relate. I use to be a Los Angeles County Emergency Paramedic in the 1970s. My partner and I hit it off and the rest was history. Been married 42 years. We qquit the County and I joined the US Military and became a Combat Pilot x 26 years.

    @glenlanding I have a Rhodes bass myself and I run it with my Vox Continental through a huge 300 watt Behringer amp. It gets this real mellow bass sound but with sharp attacks. I love it.

    "Not to touch the earth" is the song Ray talking about.. I alwayed liked that bass-line,in fact the whole song is a doors classic... I regard Ray (rip) as an accomplished and the backbone of the doors.. Very talented man.. "A groovy cat" as he would say..

    @Hgclaw It's funny you mention that. The sharps and flats on my Italian and US are bright white... the ones I've seen on the UK Continentals are almost always yellow. It's funny how many nuances these vintage instruments have.

    @Hgclaw Very good eye. I didn't notice that D trane. Actually I think it's definitely worth pointing out. I think all the hoopla around the Italians having breakable keys really give them a bad name. Personally I actually like a plastic key continental in good shape with good key bushings and no key clack. Wood keys actually have a mushier action to me. Very good point you are making!
