Ce qui est formidable, c'est que vous reprenez, en “cover“, le thème de Pat, sans copier les impros. Vous apportez vos propres improvisations et vous êtes bigrement inspirés ! Bravo, on en redemande. Marc
Merci beaucoup, Marc!! En effet le but n'est pas de recopier les solos note pour note, mais bien d'aller chercher le son d'ensemble du groupe. Mais bien sûr, on a tellement écouté cette musique qu'on s'inspire plus ou moins fortement du style d'improvisation de Metheny et Mays. C'est inévitable! Pas toujours évident dans ce genre de projet de garder son individualité musicale. On essaie autant que possible d'amener humblement nos idées à cette musique déjà parfaite.

Never had the opportunity see the PMG in the Pat, Lyle, Rodby, Wertigo setting imho was the best. Did see him once in a later setting but you guys nail my favourite setting so……when have you planned to visit the Netherlands…..😉
Yeah that core 4tet was the GOAT! We saw Pat last year in Montreal. Great show but not the same without Lyle...

@@firstcirclepmgt He had such a unique ability to know when to hold back and be complementary, and then when to step forward and be the centerpiece...both in his compositions and his performing. There will never be another.

Beautiful. Watching the video I wondered where is Lyle signature ocarina-like sound coming from? From the piano-MIDI?
Hehehe very great question and I'm glad to answer. Lyle used a MIDI piano, wich we don't have. That's why our second vocalist has a keyboard. She's playing vibe, marimba and glockenspiel parts, as well as other sounds that we can't put into a playback. Like this JX-10 patch you hear.

Hey Luca! We met at Université de Montréal during our jazz degree. We've been playing together since a few years, now. At first, a few of us did'nt even know about the existence of that band... But then a teacher handed us the score of The Way Up and that's where it began.
We do play Minuano! The Awakening, not yet. But I'll keep that title in mind :)

@@amandalynngibson8332 Thank you so much!! I'm very happy you liked the female vocals. It's one of the main differences with the original band and I think it is a very great fit. Roxane and Lélia sing so well, and blend together like a charm. It's always a pleasure to reply to people who took their time to listen and comment.
