    I seat this bullet .050 off of the lands. Win 748 is 3200 fps in the accuracy charge with cci 200, with Varget not being too far behind.
    If you pull the front rest back, grip the forearm, pulling down and back at a 45* angle, your group will improve substantially.
    We shoot incredible groups with Win and Rem brass with this bullet. Approximately the same loads work well with the 125g Sierra's, which kill big deer like a bolt of lightening!

    Just got a browning x bolt micro in 308. 20” barrel. Been trying to load up a lighter recoil load. Have been using 125 ssts. Turns out that they don’t like much speed before they act like a varmint bullet. Probably will do fine on deer. The next thing I want to try is 130 ttsx.
    I’m starting to believe more in the high speed large diameter copper bullets. My buddy drew a moose tax and he’s going to use a 30-06 150 CX superformance. Can’t wait to see what it does compared to 180 bonded bear claws and 220 round nose that I usually use.

    I called Barnes about using their 130 grain TTSX in .270 Winchester yesterday because the powder I have - H4831SC - shows as a compressed load in the Barnes data for the maximum load. I’ve never loaded with compressed powder, but the Barnes tech pretty much told me “don’t worry - be happy.” I asked about using a drop tube and he told me that definitely would help and recommended a specific one (Forster).

    • @Snailz5
      @Snailz5 Před 2 měsíci

      @@hikenmikes8262 No signs of pressure for the 130 ttsx with 48.5 gr Varget. That's probably a grain or so off max with non-Winchester (which has higher capacity than most) brass. Hammers shoot well, but their BC numbers can't be trusted and are generally rather inflated. I have the 137. If you want to run TTSX the 130 is good if your chamber/mag are short. If you have the length, the 168gr TTSX is the best 30 cal bullet for the 308 win. It expands at a lower impact velocity (1500 fps) than the rest of the 30's that you can reasonably shoot (the 200gr LRX may tie it, but a 308 won't shoot it fast enough to matter). The 175gr LRX is a close second. The 150 and 165 should be avoided for 308.

      @@hikenmikes8262 if you want to chase speed, Leverevolution yeets them pretty good and has shot well for multiple bullets for me. TAC is also fast, but I've had trouble finding consistent, accurate loads. CFE 223 and my gun hate each other. Benchmark can produce small groups and is very temp stable, but it gives up speed to varget. I have StaBall match, but haven't shot it yet, but have heard good things. I suppose one could argue that the 130gr TTSX is superior to the 150gr TTSX in 308WIN for WT deer and antelope hunting inside of 400yd… there is a conversation to be had there. You don’t need a high sectional density for these smaller animals. The higher velocity of the lighter bullet will provide a much flatter trajectory and more rapid expansion. Hmm…

      I was thinking same thing. Compare factory 130 TTSX .270 to the .308 and they give near identical performance. A lot would say a 130 .270 can take game out to 500 yards. So, a 130 .308 should easily take game at 400 yards. Pretty cool that you can get a .308 to act like a .270 with these light rounds and get a 150/165 to act almost like a .30-06 with similar bullet weights.

      Its name is Frankenstein, lol. Yugo M48A action. The barrel is from a Steyr Chilean Mauser rebarrel in 1961. When they converted the rifles from 7mm Mauser to 7.62 NATO. The stock is a Boyd’s stock. With a timney trigger. A gunsmith sporterized it for me including the safety. Nothing special, but it’s always shot well.

    Is a 308 cal, a 30cal bullet. I know a 30-30 is a 30 cal bullet, and a 30-06 is a 30 cal bullet. A 308 cal, is a 308 cal, no ??.😊😊.

      308 is 30 caliber, literally .308 inches. The same as all other 30 cals. Most 38 pistol rounds are .357”. I know, confusing.
