Undertaker's Hells Gate looked fucking lethal back when he was using it, that one is easily my favourite if it wasn't so difficult to lock in. There's just something terrifying about an almost 7' tall man twisting himself so that he can try to crush the neck of the poor sod up against him
Agreed. His use of it against Edge at Backlash 2008 looked brutal af And the way he locked it in against Edge at Wrestlemania 24 was also perfect in my opinion
The #1 is definitely a great move. And I love that you address the "variants" as being not the same at all. You know that when he locks in any of the variants, that the opponent is going to get out of the move, but when the actual move is utilized they ALWAYS tap out.

Thank you to everyone who pointed this out!
The real move is a bjj compression lock called the calf slicer, calf killer was what AJ had it called when in TNA and NJPW, this name was obviously not PG enough so it was changed to calf crusher in WWE. There's also a really easy and decent bicep slicer that can be used to counter when someone defending an armbar has too good a grip on their own hand/glove to separate and extend the arm. There's quite a few mma/bjj subs that could easily be carried over to wrestling imo. The twister being one that I would definitely use if I was a wrestler

Thank you so much for naming the Liontamer #1. I've felt like a crazy person for years coming back to wrestling after a few years off and seeing people call that boston crab a liontamer when I remember that masterpiece of a submission move being used by Jericho in WCW. I have fond memories of getting a bit too excited during a PPV and my friends and I trying holds on each other during the breaks between matches. This one hurt the most and had me tapping the fastest.
The difference between the Liontamer and the Boston Crab/Walls of Jericho. He literally had you doing a scorpion in the ring and put his knee on the back of people's heads for even more pressure. It just looked so much more painful. The Walls and Boston Crab just look like they're sitting down on an invisible chair, applying no pressure lol
wtf hells gate is a legit mma submission move. It's considered very deadly as there has been instances of people passing out and/or bleeding through the mouth when locked in it.
I'm Only Happy When it Reigns I’ve no even seen no.10 and I’m annoyed that’s no in it. I loved that you could not tap out from it and it did look cool as fuck
One of my favorite instance of the crossfire was when Benoit used his foot to push the rope away from a hand while gaining extra leverage for the move. Brilliant.
Have you seen Ken Patera's Full Nelson? He either shakes the guy around like Masters does, or goes into a full Airplane spin with it, or wrestles the guy facedown to the mat and wrenches up on him. The Masterlock was harsh, Patera's was fucking *vicious*...
Definitely should have given some love to The Asuka Lock, The Masterlock, The Crossface Chickenwing, The long forgotten Edgecator, and Eddie Guerrero's Lasso from El Paso.
I disagree with the Ankle Lock, for me when they do it in a standing position looks stupid, they can easily roll and stop the pressure, I love it when Kurt Angle goes to the floor with his opponent and wraps his legs around him leaving no escape that´s when it looks cool and believable.
Hell's Gate isn't a triangle lock. It's a gogoplata. The biggest difference between the moves is that in a triangle lock, the attacker's leg is behind the opponents head, whereas the gogoplata has the attacker's leg in the throat of their opponent. Triangle locks are very common in BJJ and MMA, and gogoplatas less common. Taker's Hell's Gate puts his right shin into the opponents throat, making it a gogoplata.
@@carlaustin5400 I don't care what the commentators called it. It's a BJJ move that's been around forever, and it's a gogoplata. They can call it a "reverse triangle" if they want, but they're wrong.

The Sharpshooter actually is a combination submission, it hurts the back and the legs at the same time. I've been in it. It wrenches the back but also hyper extends the knees and squishes the calves with the thigh and shin. The Sharpshooter is excruciating, it was the move I always tapped. And the STF by Cena is a lot better than you think

I don’t know why nobody seems to realize😂😂but in order to get the sharpshooter in-you have to soften up their legs. Otherwise, like the figure four, it’d be impossible to actually get on an opponent who’s resisting. It hurts the back, but you resist with the legs. You have to soften them up.
Here's why commentators mention leg softening with the Sharpshooter: your calves are being squished together on a shin and a thigh which hurts, and one or both knees are getting hyperextended. It's true MOST of the pain in the Sharpshooter is in the back, but the legs also are in pain. As for Cena's STF, he often looks like he's suffocating the opponent, which ain't fun
My mate used to be able to do a perfect Crossface and I can confirm that it fucking kills. He beat me so many times with that move because he'd either almost break my neck or almost break my nose

Whaaaat! No TEXAS CLOVER LEAF! Dean Malenko is on his way to your office to show you why it should have been number one!
In a pro wrestling seminar, I bloodied a guys nose doing the crossface.
Always been a sucker for the Torture Rack but I can not deny this list.
Always admire Bret as a child,,and his was and still is on the top of my list..)
I don't know who told you that about submission holds, but they were absolutely ribbing you. They are worked.
My older brother used to do every submission on me and nothing hurts like the figure four leg lock
kurt angle , chris jericho ,chris benoit are the master of submission in the history of wwe.
The cloverleaf is one hell of a submission. The pressure on you calf/ankle is incredible and then the torque on your back will make you JUST TAP OUT
My mate used to be able to do a perfect Crossface and I can confirm that it fucking kills. He beat me so many times with that move because he'd either almost break my neck or almost break my nose
Cultaholic: WHY THE JESUS HELL WOULD ANYONE WOULD EVER BE A WRESTLER
me: *MONEY DUDE*
RR entrance music.......
I submit to the restrooms, snack stand, shirt station or anything else but my seat.
