    Your clip in the beginning of the original Mario Brothers reminded me of the game and it’s actually perfect for an assignment I have! I’m gonna recreate it for it, thanks for the inspiration! Amazing video too btw, cheers

    In the original Pac-Man, the devs used this idea of leaving an invisible dot you could think of as a scent ball every time Pac-Man touched a spot. The ball would degrade over time. If a ghost “picked up his scent” it would start moving in a direction where it could continue to find his scent. If pacman had made circles in the same area they’d follow the strongest scent (one with the lease decay) hope this helps.

    For ghost pathfinding I would probably opt to have the ghosts move in the direction of Path Man when there is direct line of sight between the two. The ghost would move in that one direction for awhile and then start moving randomly again.

    ~8:05 - You are probably well beyond this now, but it's a thing I used to be hyper interested in, sooooooo... You know the original Pac-... I mean, PathMan ghosts have separate AI, right? Red chases directly, Pink tries and cut you off (he aims for the spaces in front of the player), Blue, I think, tries and gets behind you (relative to it's position, your position, and it's teammates'), and Orange tries... and then gets lazy and wanders off... and then tries again. They also made a version of that script you wrote to keep them from going backwards... I mean, it was in Assembly and not C, but, you know. Parallels. :B
    Video Game Mechanics Explained has a whole video on it. Actually, he has several on PathMan alone... I think he's a little obsessed. :P
    And knowing just helps when you want to do something similar laters. :3

    Did you know pacman didn't have ghosts at the start people just called them ghosts so they were changed to ghosts

    Very nice. If you do ever go back and add pathfinder make sure to remember that each ghost actually has it's own ai with different behaviors.
