- When I visited Belize last year, I fell in love with the beautiful country, it’s beaches, the romance in the breeze, the friendly people, and of course, the incredible food! One item that really struck me was the delicious hot sauce. Every restaurant we went, we would find a bottle of Belizean style hot sauce on the tables. The flavors of this sauce are intense and rustic, fiery hot, a little tangy, and just a fantastic blend of spiciness.
After trying many different recipes trying to replicate the flavors, I settled for this delicious and easy recipe. I don’t think I can ever go back to bottled hot sauce again!
Use as many or as few habanero peppers as you can handle. Also, the serrano peppers are completely optional. My sauce turned out to be a rich orange color, because I could only find orange habanero peppers at my local grocery store. Nevertheless, no matter what color habanero peppers you use, the taste is going to be mind blowing!
I cannot wait to use this in my sandwiches, serve with my grilled meats, add to my marinades... the options are endless!
Try it out, and ENJOY! And also, click on this video if you want to get a small glimpse into our Belize trip!
• 3 Days in Belize! Fun ...
Nothing beats homemade!! This delicious hot sauce will make you forget store bought, it’s that simple and easy to make and the taste is mind blowing!
Love how you made it a quick simple easy video . Other people make hour videos of them talking the whole time😂
Thank you so much 😊
I went to Belize and found this sauce at the Wet Lizard. I bought every bottle they had. About 25 bottles. They used to sell it locally at Walmart. I was so sad when they stopped. I appreciate your vid and I am definitely going to make my own.
I know! I miss this sauce! Probably never found any store bought sauce that even comes close to the flavor! Hope the recipe works out well for ya!
Some Fred Meyer/Kroger stores carry it! And it’s available on Amazon too. I have had it in my house almost all the time since 2001 after my first trip to Belize.
I would definitely try this, I love my hot sauce nice and spicy and nothing beats a home made sauce!! 👍🏼
Aww thank you! In that case you’ll love this recipe!! ♥️
@@AtiqasTantalizingBitesofLife for sure!! Will let you know!!

Thank you so much!
Been looking for this thank you
Wow fantastic
Thank you 🙏🏻
Since it contains vinegar I guess we can store it at the freezer ? For how long??. I followed your recipe and I got 5 jars. Very tasty!!
Thank you so much for your comment! You should be able to store it in the fridge for up to a month at least, and you can store in the freezer for 3 months. Thank you 🙏🏻
@@AtiqasTantalizingBitesofLife Thanks, I love so much this sauce that I will pass the 5 jars in 3 months! Next time I'll put more habaneros, I put this time 14, but I like more spicy👍
@@Monsieur-Estrada I’m so happy to hear that! My family also loves this sauce. It never last more than one month 😊 thank you so much for appreciating the recipe! I also like it extra hot and spicy 🥵
@@AtiqasTantalizingBitesofLife After trying your recipe from one week up to today, me and my family are enjoying so much your habanero sauce, it's so good you can drink it! Thanks again!!
@@Monsieur-Estrada awww thank you so much! I’m so happy you guys loved it ❤️
Hi-How long does this last bottled also does it have to be refridgerated?
I have kept it in the fridge safely for up to two months when I made a very large batch. It stayed fresh and delicious, the vinegar helps preserve it. But do keep it in the refrigerator. It usually doesn’t last long enough because it’s so delicious 😋 and gets wiped away pretty quick.
I’ve done this Belizean style sauce but still think something it’s missing.. I mean compared to Marie sharp… they maybe added a fruit? Or a fruit vinegar? 🤔 thanks for sharing
Hmmm could be a fruity vinegar, I will try to add some more tang and update the recipe if I find what it is! Thanks for trying it out ❤️
@@AtiqasTantalizingBitesofLife if you can try Tabasco habanero sauce it’s also delicious, those two sauces been in my mind how to replicate…
@@samsagas thanks for sharing that info! I will surely check that out!
ACV?
Her original sauce was made with some Papaya!
I have to try another batch. Two cups of water didn't evaporate much at medium heat. It didn't come out thick like yours.
Maybe different stoves have different heat levels? Try a bit higher temperature and maybe cook a little longer? Or perhaps start by adding half the amount of water, and increase a little more if needed. Hope it turns out great 😊
How does this compare to the old Sontava habanero sauce?
I am sorry, I’ve never tried that, so I cannot compare!
@@AtiqasTantalizingBitesofLifeI did try Marie’s sauce, and it is as mild as ketchup!
how is the tartness with the limes compared to marie sharp's? i think they use vinegar
I have also used vinegar in this recipe. I personally love the flavor of lime. This sauce is quite tangy and delicious, you can cut out the likes and replace with a 1/4 cup more of vinegar if you prefer to.
@@AtiqasTantalizingBitesofLife Oh I see I didn't catch when you added it. Thanks!
Sure thing! And remember you can just not add limes and instead add a little more vinegar for tartness. Since it’s homemade you can adjust the ingredients however you want.
How long will it keep?
I have kept it safely for up to 2 months in the fridge. Be sure to keep it refrigerated!
Thanks for the reply 👍💚😘💞 Im excited to make it
Did you delete the recipe you posted before?
Yes, it was not edited properly. Same recipe video after editing!
@@AtiqasTantalizingBitesofLife I see. You shouldn't delete the videos though because you'll lose overall views on your channel.
Oh I didn’t know! I’ll keep that in mind next time, thanks for the info! ♥️
Add mango
I will next time 😀
Why don't you share your ingredients???????..., ?
The video shows all the ingredients and technique, full recipe 😊
Idk bout the bell pepper
It somehow just works in the recipe, but you can omit it!
